Idra vs Kiwikaki in the IPL

+ Show Spoiler +
IdrA has suddenly become so beast-mode against everyone, including Protoss. It looks like he's coming out of this slump he had gotten himself into. Congrats IdrA! He's got a great shot at going on to winning the whole IPL.

IPL vs Kiwikaki spoilers
+ Show Spoiler +
3 games in a row he had solid reads of Kiwi and never gave him a chance. I actually knew the results of this series due to leaks and still thought he might lose that 2nd game. His ability to fight off all that harass and then recover from that failed drop was extremely impressive.

I'm sure Kiwi made some mistakes but it was damn well played by IdrA.

I wish I could play as instinctively as IdrA. His counters are so amazing.

So so impressed with his play against Kiwikaki today, it really looks like he's learned how to play against most Protoss styles now. So long as he recognises the build early enough he's almost unbeatable.

I think you'll be disappointed to learn he has this to say about his "new style":

To above poster Turgid.
Notice your quotes are 1 month apart. A lot of change can happen in a month ^_^
Also IdrA is right still. Zerg is still forced into 'guess-work' most of the time.
The only thing solid you can constantly maintain is your macro.

You have a point about the dates of those quotes, but more recent quotes, like from the SotG thread such as :

Yeah. Idra's ZvP is pretty crazy lately, in tournaments. I've seen him do 'standard' roach play, roach burrow movement all-in, roach burrow-movement defense of a 6-gate, roach drops, ling with baneling drops and infestors, roach-ling allin, spinecrawler-hydra-creephighway all-in and a 6-pool.

yeah for sure.
NASL spoiler

Look at his games vs Socke even! He has everything for the fake 3-gate down almost perfectly (he scouts RIGHT at the cancel, he clearly knows what time it's supposed to be canceled). Then in the following 2 games he might as well have had full map vision given how he played reading Socke flawlessly to take both the games.

i dont deserve any credit for it. i flipped coins cuz theres no reliable way to win in a long game vs a competent player and no way to read a nexus cancel before its too late.

blind guessing is just better odds than zvp right now.

are from just over a week ago and seem to imply that Idra's feelings haven't changed much at all.

And I believe this quote was written after his IGN games against Kiwikaki had already been played.

That's great that he has an opinion and all, but at some point as a pro you've got to just play to win. That's the whole point of competition. I'm sure Idra realizes this too. Whatever he thinks is the correct way to play is secondary to what wins (consistently).
I'd certainly rather see Idra doing well than try to bend the game to his will or whatever.

well he is doing what he has to win. have you seen his recent pvz games? he rarely aims for a long game now.
