To anyone defending the changes blizzard made: Nothing game changing here (like the roach pop. nerf). Let people bitch about the changes, people will always bitch about any changes. Once they realize the game changed all that much they'll stop moaning.

Wow.... I'm impressed that a zerg player actually thinks range should be purchased. I agree with removing energy from thors, but with nerfing void rays we now have literally no counter to corruptors. Not templar either apparently.

But hey, at least now carriers are finally useable in PvP.

Voidray change actually makes voidrays much much better against corruptors in a normal engagement situation without a critical mass of voidrays and them all being pre-charged.

Over short fights the voidray dps is much higher than before.

Now that we are at 37 pages (40 prob by the time I type this out), can the OP or a Mod throw on a few polls for us? Maybe, one for overall impression, one for most favorite change and one for least favorite change? I think we need something up front so that when Bliz sees this thread they will get a good summary of what the community thinks.

Personally, my reaction is meh to bleh. I see a few decent looking changes, and a few that I don't really care about, but the silly, silly* over-reaction of changing a classic, nay, historic tech tree is just beyond my comprehension. A.I. in SC1 would always build barracks on 8, supply on 9... where's the respect?

Nerf *reapers* to require supply depot, or engineering bay, or factory, or ghost academy... but nerfing the entire tech tree beginning with the barracks... well, let's just hope that every single map has a ramp or super narrow choke and that no one gets innovative with their maps... oh, and that no one proxy gateways in base or 6 pools. Marines cry. Very poor judgment Bliz.

Also, I think the thor buff is stupid. Leave it with energy and just make the 250mm worthwhile, like doing 750-1000 damage to structures only (whether or not they are floating), or making it a splash damage attack like the Odin's in the campaign but with a much smaller radius.

I am biased towards protoss, and here are my opinions on the balance changes.

My Opinions on the balance changes:
Protoss:
Nexus: Wtf, where did this come from? I don't think this is needed, but ok...
Void Ray: Meh, makes them less deadly en masse in 3v3s/4v4s. Doesn't affect my laddering too much.

Terran:
Supply Depot: I do not agree with the rax requires supply depot, but oh well, i dont play terran.
Supply depot: Ew, now it takes two more DT slices to kill.
Medivac: Doesn't affect my play too much, because DTs are in their base killin their doods before they get medvacs out. Helps against drops though, which is good.
Reaper: This wasn't the problem with terran, it was Concussive shells, not Nitro Packs. No one will use reapers now.
Thor: This is going to make them a bit harder to kill (no feedback) but immortals can still pwn them.

Zerg:
Buildings:I am OK with all the building life increases excluding the spire. Now timing attacks need to do even more damage...
Corruptor: I don't care one bit.
Infestor: Meh, dont really care.
Roach: This is gonna make PvZ early game hard as hell. 5 Roach Rush = GG
Survival is winning, everything else is bullshit.

Somehow I think that this patch gonna be good. No more bunker rush, no more reaper rush. So good! Even though VoidRay's were nerfed, it was needed. They were kinda too strong, IMHO, I think, that this patch will turn into good.
Looking forward to play games on this new patch and see how good roaches gonna be with 4 range. Hope this HP increase for buildings will be good, marauders wont snipe Nexus THAT fast now.

I do not understand why so many people think this is going to revolutionize Thor play....it still needs to be researched people. The only thing it does is make them not feedback/EMP vulnerable. You will still never see 250mm...you don't now and you still won't.

The only thing the change does is make the fact that you aren't using it no longer a liability if HT's are on the field.
Losing money is less good than making it, confirm?

After 10 years, the depot is now pre-reqed by a barracks. All because blizzard introduced a unit that is never seen 10 minutes after the game.

Now blizz has given terran even less incentive to get it. If I'm building a factory, I'll probably spend the gas on upgrades rather than reapers

I actually like the voidray change. I really didn't useit before because i felt like it was an allin type of strategy. If there was no way to get a good charge before entering battle you were pretty much screwed.

Now they are a little more powerful right off the bat and not god-like once they are fully charged hovering over someones base.

Seems to make sense to me.

Woah, I'm bummed about the slower medivacs but happy about the Thor change. I'll call it a wash for me personally.

I'm fascinated with what the MLG, Blizzcon and the GSL are going to look like with this new patch in place. The WoW tourneys will be nuts too since an enormous patch just went down there.

Should be interesting!

As a Zerg fan, I fear this patch...

Roach change is awesome and needed power...the other nerfs handed around to the other races mean that Zerg will be viewed as OP and just as other races figure out how to exploit zerg weakness (such as our limited anti-air) a big zerg nerf will come in and we'll be hit with a double-whammy (just as Terran is now).

Oh well, at least we won't be Toss with their constant lack of love. (You'll always have MLG Raleigh!)

In the GSL2 I'm predicting early Zerg and Terran domination with a surprise midgame rally by the top Terran and Protoss players exploiting FE (I've already seen this in the metagame since GSL1 - don't let zerg macro unharassed) and harass builds, until only FruitDealer again defends the swarm for the win.

Voids haven't been nerfed so much as redesigned. Previously, their effectiveness was 100% tied to charge, which meant they were useful when you could surprise people with them via proxy cheese, or when a terran was stupid enough to wall in, or if you set up a pylon ahead of time. But they served almost no purpose in normal fights, nor were they ever useful for defense. They were gimmicky and one-dimensional.

Now at least they do reasonable damage off the bat, so you can use them in battles, and you can use them for defense.

I do think getting longer range back would make sense though, because it fits with their purpose now as being a unit designed for use in actual fights.

Well, im only 1000 diamond, so that BO still works, and robo facility + building an observer + building an immortal takes some time.
Survival is winning, everything else is bullshit.

A spire costs 250/200 and takes 100 seconds to build. Yea, I think it should have more than 600 health.

Your timing attacks will still work perfectly fine.
