Well wether depressing or not it's kinda a shame that the Koreans behaved like that.

This isn't about money. That has been made clear over and over by people in this thread.

This is about one of a few things:

1) Koreans trying to squeeze out NASL so that GSL remains number 1
2) They're pissed off at the EG/PuMa thing and they don't want that to repeat
3) They're pissed off at the hours of play and don't want to go through it again
4) They hate the tournament format for the finals and think its a waste of time

There may be other reasons, but those are the ones I can think of.

What I don't understand is why they went through the trouble of giving NASL an ultimatum. They clearly had no intention of competing to begin with. NASL has basically agreed to cover all travel costs...

Bah, you're just speculating. You don't know their minds or motives.

educated guess?

again, 2) and 4) really sound about right.

i hope NASL does something about finals format, it's something they can actually change for the better.

Boxer and Nada both withdrew before the SC2Con made its decision. So no, Boxer will not be playing.

Korean teams pulling out after the season begins?

No words exist for this low, low blow.

You can say whatever you want about NASL's format. You may disagree with it, you may hate it, and you may want to see it burn in hell. But the fact is - The Korean teams knew that it would be applied. Now, while the season has started, the Korean teams demand more than was agreed on when they entered the qualifiers.

This is a breach of agreement and is everything opposite to the so called 'honourable' Korean culture everyone talks about at all times. Poor performance by the Korean teams, and I hope for them to redeem themselves with regards to this issue, but it'd be hard for them.

which is why i think nasl should seek legal action against sc2 con. a huge chunk of players who sign contracts to play this season are now pulled out. there season will now be delayed to reformat. sc2con needs to at least apologize for the amount of damage they have caused this league

I can see how it's going to hurt NASL if they dont but I dont see how it's going to hurt NASL much if they do.

We would love to guarantee a 100% covered cost to every single player. We have a fixed budget, we're a company that is less than 1 year old and we're trying to do great things. We don't have the VC backing and years of events hosted such as companies like MLG (nor do we have the backing of a major corporation like GOMTV).

The offer we made is literally the most we can do with the current budget we have.

You'll end up losing a lot of your viewers tho.

So the question is, is this loss of revenue still less than if you were to fully cover their cost?
Have you considered reducing part of the grand final prize for this?

Comrades, let us remember the pitchforks we bought for the TSL debacle and had to return. I suggest waiting for the other side of the story before buying another pair.

If some of these teams cant afford traveling with that much money the NASL is willing to give them, then i dont even care about them, I am fine with the ones that can.

SlayerS has nothing to do with this at all. We have spoken directly with Jessica many times, and are on great terms with team SlayerS. They let us know a long time ago the issues they had with NASL and we couldn't come to an agreement with them... all is good!

For all those saying a plane ticket costs more than $2000 you are dead wrong. I just tried to book a round-trip ticket from Seoul to LA, and the average price was $1200. The remaining money would easily cover a hotel and food for a few days.

I will still watch and think its Unfair for them to demand anything that much. Dont they thing its costly for the westerners who go to the GSL finals and games any more expensive? the answer is no its not it is just as such. We dont need them to have good games.

90% of the people saying "I WILL NEVER WATCH NASL AGAIN AAARRGGGHHH!" will watch anyway, i doubt they'll take a very big blow in their viewer numbers

I think NASL actually went further than they should have by offering so much to the korean teams. I don't think koreans should get special treatment to be flown out to competitions en masse. If they don't have the sponsorship to attend a $40k tournament, too bad.

I watch almost every GSL match, and most major foreign tournaments also. I'm not a super technical observer, I watch for entertainment only, and to me american and european play is easier to watch and more interesting. The games aren't as faultless as the korean's, but they aren't as linear either. TLO nuke pushing, Huk Mothershipping, Idra Neural parasiting, Incontrol pyloning games are the ones I remember even now.

I will still watch all NASL games that I can, and be secretly relieved that there are fewer koreans.

That's a real shame, I was looking toward the increased talent of the player pool next season, I'll still watch occasionally though =D Shame things couldn't work out =(

This sucks on some levels, but good on some other. Hopefully we get some new NA/EU players that are really strong to step up.

Is that how they want to act? I wasn't gonna buy season 2 of NASL but now I'm going to buy it to show some support.
