Really simple question here guys.

I recently got adblock (for Firefox) and in a noob moment I clicked onto a stream here on TeamLiquid. Everything was working fine until one day, I clicked "Block" located in the top right of the stream box. It's really small and hard to see. Anyway.... the stream turned off and I was only able to watch streams directly from the person(s) twitch.tv account rather than directly from TL. But now I can't watch anything, be it Youtube, streams on Twitch or whatever.

Would love to know what I did and how to resolve it. I've also tried going into AdBlock settings and disabling everything for TL but it didn't work.

Ctrl+Shift+F -> Click the custom filters tab -> Click "Actions" on "Ad blocking rules" and click "show/hide filters" -> uncheck the related urls you want to unblock.

So I have:

Windows 7 Ultimate x86
Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66 GHz: http://ark.intel.com/products/35365/Intel-Core2-Quad-Processor-Q9400-(6M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB)
2 GB RAM DDR2
GeForce 8600 GT: http://www.nvidia.com/object/geforce_8600.html

However, I notice lag in sc2 despite low settings. I used to run sc2 better before 1.5, but oh well... what's faulty in your opinion though? Weak NVIDIA GPU? If yes, can it be replaced with newer one without replacing my motherboard? It's Intel DP35DP in case it's needed.

Hello,

I'm changing my system and I'm wondering what's the fastest way to re-install sc2:
- Install from orginal CD + update
or
- Download the 6GB client from my battle.net account and install it.

My simple question is : Is the sc2 client that can be downloaded from battle.net already updated to 1.5 ? Or do I have to apply an update as well after downloading ?

Thank you!

you still have to apply the patch if you download it

If you still have your old installation, just copy/paste the SC2 folder to the new disk. SC2 (like other Blizzard games) runs fine without the regular installation process, making it easy to transfer to a new machine.

Your CPU is okay. Although your RAM and GPU worry me. In this day and age there is little reason not to get 8 GB RAM, if not at least 4 GB. Additionally your GPU just outright sucks. Even though SC2 is not a graphically demanding game, you'll be limited to playing low only on that. But if you want to replace your GPU you'll have to replace your mobo; at least I would reccomend doing so. Your mobo uses an older type of socket; LGA 775. Modern mobos now have the 1155 socket, which will greatly increase the amount of better GPUs you can replace your current one with.

His motherboard isn't limiting his GPU upgrade capabilities. It has a PCI-e 2.0 x16 slot so even a GTX 680 or HD 7970 would not be bottlenecked by the slot's bandwidth...though it would be a stupid upgrade because the CPU is far from strong enough to keep up and he'd be CPU limited in like 99.9% of scenarios with such a high end card.

RAM should be fine also as long as he's not running out of it.

@darkness - do you have 2 sticks of 1GB? Dual channel does help a bit.

There seem to be a lot of issues with the patch. Your CPU is indeed older and SC2 is very CPU-intensive, but it should still be okay. Really I just think it's the patch.

But if you want to play with medium or higher graphical settings (and other games also), yes you can upgrade your video card to anything you want as long as your PSU can handle it and your case can fit it. There won't be much point in cards over about ~$150 though due to the older CPU. Also, you didn't mention your resolution.

Simple question about DXTory recording.

In the audio settings, I have 2 channels set up for my headset.

1. for my microphone
2. for my speakers

Now my problem is that when I record, I can only hear one or the other (whichever was put into the 1st channel) when I play the video on WMP. I was told that both channels would only work on an editing program like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere is this true? Would the audio problem I have be fixed if I tried editing on windows movie maker?

Baaah im so lost when it comes to cpu's. I know the K series is for overclocking, whats the 's' series for? im seeing they have to integrated graphics, so why are they as/more expensive?

S stands for shit. Or was that T lol. Both i think.

Ivy bridge is the successor to Sandy bridge. It offers same or higher performance at lower power consumption.

Where you might have heard otherwise is people saying you can clock the 2500k higher than its ivy bridge equivalent but remember that it needs said higher clocks just to compete. Some mega enthusiasts still prefer 2500k for crazy top end potential but you simply do not have to worry about that.

No, S stands for slower, not much worse at all. T for third-rate. (Okay, well actually they're just the lower-power variants. They run at a lower clock speed though they may have higher Turbo Boost to compensate like the laptop processors, and they use lower voltage. Of course, you could undervolt and underclock the standard processors yourself, but this is an out-of-box version from Intel so you can be guaranteed a certain amount of power consumption and thermal envelope to deal with, for certain constrained applications.)

By the way, the second link is non-k. Just checking.

Athlon ii x4 3.4ghz
4GB RAM
1360x768 resolution

Can I run SC2 without a GPU? I need to send my card in for an RMA, and my weird motherboard means I can't exactly test out what would happen if I just plug my monitor into my mobo instead of GPU without buying a somewhat pricy adapter (and no other monitor).

I'm not worried about being on low settings or whatever. My question is, is do I need to buy/rent a GPU for a month during the month long RMA process, or can I run SC2 on low settings without a GPU with my current CPU and resolution?

Thanks. I'm not looking for advice on GPUs or how to fix my GPU or anything like that. Just asking if I can play sc2 without a GPU on low settings at my resolution, or if I need to buy a temporary GPU in order to play.

Shit and Turd sounds great to me, except that it becomes unclear which is worse. We'll have to think on that one.

Seems to be implied that the motherboard has graphics output ports, and thus has integrated GPU? I mean, you can't get any graphics output without some GPU somewhere.

What you have depends on the chipset, but it's probably some kind of Radeon HD 42xx (well it is if it's 785G, 880G, or 890GX—otherwise it's older), passable on low settings at that resolution if you're expecting low framerates.

I don't believe I have integrated graphics, I have a Biostar AE770E3: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138179 (onboard video chipset = none).

I recall when first setting up my PC, I believe I plugged in directly to my mobo, and the screen had mostly black edges and terrible resolution, like really small screen was displayed with terrible detail (resolution). Or maybe I had plugged into my gpu without drivers yet installed, I forget.. i think i plugged in directly.

But yea, no chipset.

So I guess I gotta get a temporary GPU?

http://ark.intel.com/products/63696/Intel-Core-i7-3960X-Processor-Extreme-Edition-(15M-Cache-3_30-GHz)

Why is the price double? I understand it has 3 MB more cache which is expensive and +100 MHz CPU, but it doesn't seem a better choice to me in terms of money/value.

There is no reason. It exists because its a halo product. Halo products are always overpriced compared to more mid-range offerings.
