My computer is slowly dying.

Thinking about building a new computer. Want to stick with AMD.

Is there any reason to get Phenom II CPUs or should I try whatever AMD has in terms of latest CPUs?

Is this the latest and should I chose these types of CPUs over AMD Fusion or any other AMD CPUs?

This is $30 cheaper than 8 cores (though I know that most games only use like 2 cores max, maybe some are able to use 4 but I want to invest in a CPU I don't have to replace for a while).

Of course, should I just go with good old AMD Phenom II and upgrade my CPU whenever needed? Seems like AMD Phenom II is still good enough for most stuff nowadays.

You don't want to stick with AMD. All AMD chips are slow as shit compared to Intel processors. Core count is irrelevant if they're slow.

If you have money to spend on a computer, the best solution is basically always Intel in basically all price regions above $100.

Thanks for the heads up.I didn'treally know how well the CPUs compare (just wanted to stick with AMD since I've always used AMD), didn't know there was a huge difference.

All I know was that my AMD Athlon (Worse than Phenom) can run StarCraft II on Ultra (even 4v4s), and besides SC2, not sure what other games I really want to play.

I'll get the same DVD drive, RAM, and CPU from that video (I think I'll get a better motherboard though because motherboards are always the hardest/most tedious to replace + I think when using Windows OEM, it detects a Motherboard change as too big and may lock you out of Windows [well not sure if true or not but just something I vagule remember reading]).

Unless you know what you're doing, getting a more expensive motherboard for the sake of getting a more expensive motherboard is a huge waste of money. LGA1155 is dead next year, Haswell is using LGA1150.

Kingston HyperX isn't that great either since it's a 1.65v kit at $45, you can find 1.5v kits for less.

Well I am looking for a motherboard with at least 2 PCI slots (the one in the video only has 1).

My previous two computers, the onboard ethernet port always died after like 1-3 years of use (had to resort to using a PCI ethernet card).

Another PCI slot could be for anything else too (in case the onboard sound slots died too).

The Gigabyte board (Z77M-D3H) in the video isn't a good board, especially at a $115 price point.

If you're looking for a board with two legacy slots than you're looking at an ATX board such as an Asrock Z77 Pro3 or Pro4, both of which are less expensive.

Though if you don't already have legacy cards to use the slots, there's really no point since there are PCI-E cards available.

Nowadays people use PCIe cards or external solutions (USB mostly) for most things, particularly if they're buying something new and not hanging on to a relic of the past. But being able to use your old network adapter might be useful, I guess...

Sounds like you should be using a surge protector with Ethernet passed through it.

I would trust in the onboard ethernet. Then if I had a sound card I wouldnt use PCI anyway since the onboard audio is pretty close to those older PCI sound cards anyway.

Either way I wouldnt use legacy devices. Even if I had PCI relics ready to use.

Hi, does someone know where I can find a thread about why diablo 3 being a disappointment?

In the thread the OP basically listen 100 reasons why d3 is bad and I think it was mostly pretty well written.It was a really long thread does anyone know where I can find it?

oh and yes I obviously tried the search function but since I dont remember the name I am unable to find it.

Whats the fastest method for spamming infested terrans? Im asking because i know there was a technical thingy that certain zergs used before where they had changed some hotkey in sc2 settings to the scroll button or something. I assume this got fixed? So ye, whats the fastest (non cheat, obv) method in spamming inf. terrans right now?

Is anything obviously wrong with my computer? This is my CPUID temperature info, I have no clue what most of it means :O

-one of my fans might be out?
-my temperatures are too high on like everything i think
-any other info?

problems with computer
-has shut itself off randomly a few times in the past few weeks
-lags in sc2 sometimes and i lose control of my mouse for a second or so (might be unrelated)
-i start sc2 games 10seconds late (might be unrelated)
-def has dust in it, ive cleaned it before but maybe not as well as it could be cleaned.

GPU is definitely overheating. CPU is also probably overheating if those are your idle temperatures. This is the reason why your computer shuts it self randomly.

Hello guys, I need a suggestion. I've got a 9400gt and I'd upgrade it anytime soon, preparing for HotS and stuff, my processor is decent (3.8Ghz OC) but my GPU is setting my performances back.
Any advice on a cheap video card upgrade (less than 120€ would be cool) that can easily boost my performances? Thanks in advance.

What's your power supply? What CPU, for that matter?

Around that price, you can get an HD 7770, though if you can somehow find any kind of GTX 560 or GTX 460 version (or HD 6850), those are faster. All of these require an additional power connector or two, so cheap power supplies will not be happy with them.

A cheap upgrade that's significantly faster than a 9400 GT for well under budget would be some kind of HD 6570 or HD 6670, preferably a GDDR5 version. They tend to be the best for the cost at around that price point.

Not sure if this should go here. So i had SC2 English US installed, but when i updated it with the latest patch it changed to Spanish. How can i go back to English, do i have to reinstall the game completely? Also, Battle.net doenst allow me to log in with my account, says i need Blizzard's authorization to play in this language.

Ok guys, I have a recent problem. I hear hiss (ping? what's the word in english?) on my headphones. I use Razer Electra with a splitter (if it's called that in English) because that cable is too short to reach my PC. Anyway, I was wondering if it's headphones or some motherboard failure or something. What should I do?
