FUKK ME People get banned and unbanned all the time - don't worry about it. Just ping one of the mods (or even The Steven himself) and reconcile with them.

Is this the same coddled attitude that comes with not grading tests in red ink? Is it the same attitiude that comes with telling kids that they get a gold star for failing big time because they're special and unique? But seriously... Taken in context, he frequently says "in your league" in order to point out to the student that the player he is currently practicing against, by and large has a far higher micro/macro proficiency than the people the student will be matched up against on the ladder "in their league". The objective is to win games and be a better player. Thus it is rather important to speak about the general capabilities of the people the student will likely be matched up against. If they can reliably take down a Diamond/Masters level 2 rax rush in a lesson, it stands to reason they will likely smash the same play at the Platinum or below level they regularly face on the ladder. This isn't disrespectful in the slightest. As a coach, how do you go about teaching someone without referring to, mentioning, or considering their current level on the ladder? Coaching a bronze level player is far different from coaching a Diamond or Master's league player. You certainly wouldn't start your Master's league student off by lecturing him about the importance of hotkeys, or informing him of the fact that minerals and gas are used to make units. You don't pay coaches to tell you you're a good player, you pay them to help you better yourself by pointing out your flaws and instilling the knowledge to rectify them. If that means referencing your league and comparing it to the skill you demonstrate in the lesson, so be it.

If that means referencing your league and comparing it to the skill you demonstrate in the lesson, so be it. Way to make a connotative manipulation of what I said. Hat off to you sir. So let me put is as clearly as possible; Beeing condecending is not helpful, no matter how you care to describe it. In "context" he did not once used the condecending tone or remarks to describe the relative diffrence between the player and the practicepartner, but only to point out why he should settle for subpar builds and strategies instead of "proper" ones. And let me be clear on this aswell; I dont really care that much. My first post was mainly due to beeing suprised and a way to give feedback to his coachingstyle. It wont stop me from enjoying his stream which is beyond doubt the most entertaining one out there. This post on the other hand is me beeing annoyed at the general fanboyism going on in your reply; you may sugarcoat crap, but it will still taste like shit. Take it for what it is. Im not interested in a long discussion and for all I know maybe he had a bad day or just a bad session. Or maybe he just didnt like his pupil.

I teach very simple (and strategically silly) builds to newer players so they can hammer out mechanics. The less things a new player has to focus on (expanding, harassing, scouting, creep spread, upgrades, tech, drone saturation between two bases, managing queens, timing attacks, expo timings, etc...), the more likely he is to succeed in those things. I've actually learned quite a bit coaching beginning players and am ALMOST motivated enough to make a big post on it. Maybe after this LAN...
