He definitely deserved the ban. The ban reason may have been intentionally harsh to hit him extra hard with the hammer. My interpretation is that mocking his faith and religion as 'fairy tales' is the extra wind up on the mighty banhammer to drive the point home. Still (this is where I'm split) the ban could have been done without the fairy tale part.
