I think the problem with that is that if you blur the lines then you open the flood gates. Everybody and their mom will start a debate if it was justified in their case. The whole thing would turn sour in a matter of minutes. | ||

Moderators make the decision if it is acceptable or not, same with any other post. It would be more work for the Mods off the bat, but I could see a wagon sprout from people just failing to comply to rules to post memes and it would fish out so many quick bans. Natural ban selection? Open the floodgates I say! | ||

It's the internet equivalent of that one older guy everyone knows who thinks he's a real hoot and keeps making the same tired, old jokes over and over again. There's a time and a place, but not in the middle of serious discussion threads. | ||

I've seen rei temp banned quite a few times. I've wondered what kind of tenure he has on TL, until I came across this: rei was just temp banned for 2 weeks by boesthius. That account was created on 2002-10-24 02:29:26 and had 1897 posts. Reason: This is not what we do here at Teamliquid. You are not a mod. You are not an admin. Just because you're a veteran does not mean you can shit all over the userbase of TL. You've been here since 2002. FUCKING 2002. You should really know better. Is there something I'm missing? | ||

In what aspect? Missing why he got temp banned, or why he isn't perma banned? I'm assuming the latter, but 2002 is a prehistoric account. He's been here the year that TL was born more or less... so they are being extremely lenient with him, which I agree with. The former, well, he's kind of being a huge dick for no apparent reason, and threatening the guy with a ban. | ||

Nightside was just temp banned for 2 days by GMarshal. That account was created on 2012-02-02 08:14:57 and had 1 posts. Reason: Being a dick AND making cheating accusations with no evidence all in your first post. When you get back I expect your second post to be nothing more than stellar, to make up for your first. This ban cracks me up, I mean like honestly I can just imagine GMarshal waiting patiently for Nightside's next post when he gets back and it has to be stellar. Don't disappoint me GMarshal, I expect you to smash him in the face with your ban hammer again if he doesn't deliver with his 2nd post. | ||
