Well at least on BNET forums you can see the race and league of the people making the statement. That would be pretty useful here even though I can often figure it out :p. Haha, even then, you never know someones true ranking that they deserve XD. Why is that? Is there an "ELO Hell" for SC2? lol No, it's just the thing where people go "I'm gold, but if not for cheese, then I'd be masters" or "I have the understanding of a GM player but mechanics have me stuck in diamond." From the "Blizzard being dumb" thread, after flaming TB (lol): theking1 was just temp banned for 1 week by MoonBear.

Reason: You were banned only 10 days ago for being unable to debate in a civil way. Here you are being a repeat offender. Either learn to manner up or get off TL. I can't decide if he and the other idiot in there with his location listed as Romania are the same guy or not and it's some elaborate trolling scheme where he aggressively debates both sides of the argument. Thoughts? http://i.imgur.com/YvwROey.png < That's him, you can safely say he's just a shitty troll and won't be here for long. what a fucking asshole. jesus christ. Oh my. I know users are rarely banned for things outside TL, but I think this should be one of those rare occasions. i am firmly opposed to people being banned on tl.net for stuff they do off the site unless they specifically relate to tl.net--tl.net isnt the world police (thats americas job). there are multiple occasions where this has legitimately happened (e.g., idra telling his minions to go after chill on twitter (?), some dude on battle.net who verbally attacked a mod knowing full well that it was a mod). since the guy attacked TB on a tl.net thread and then subsequently attacked him (after being banned?) maybe that is enough, im not sure, it doesnt seem enough to me. doesnt twitter have rules? Hmm...I agree to some extent. My only real point in saying that is that it seems pretty clear to me from that exchange that he's not going to be a constructive member of the TL forums. In fact, it can be argued that he's particularly malicious so there's no reason to keep him around. What if it's a case of mistaken (albeit consistently douchy) identity? It would suck to ban the wrong guy, it's not like we have two IdrA's running around.

the main problem with moderating non-tl.net actions is that what you will see will be abuse of the system, not legitimate moderation. be BM to one of the old boys' group, banned from tl.net. be one of the old boys' group and BMing people, no action taken. be BM to random tl.net user who reports you to tl.net mods, no action.

Well the usernames match up with his post on Reddit and they're not new accounts either, they both have histories, so it's safe to say it's him.

Yeah, that's definitely something I agree with. If I remember correctly, there was such an issue with someone being banned on TL for bming on B.net and I really disagreed with that action. I think this is exactly why the occurrences of banning someone for something outside of TL is so rare. They might have even stopped completely after that incident.

I see where you're coming from but honestly getting rid of this moron is better than not doing anything at all, even if you don't get rid of all the morons who might be deserving, it's still a step in the right direction. I'm not sure who would actually *complain* about this course of action beyond just playing devil's advocate. Either way it's well worth it imo.

He needs some serious help.

There's been bans for behavior outside of TL where the behavior of the person banned at TL itself was also dodgy and the outside TL shenanigans pushed it over the edge into bannination, KwarK has had a few of those I think. But bantage particularly or exclusively for being an asshole on B.Net or somewhere I don't think that has happened except for the examples phreak mentions.

My ideal punishments would be
1) Going round to their house and film them squirming as I explain who I am and then uploading it to reddit for the world to see what a coward they are.
and 2) Contacting their parents and explaining what their child has been doing on the internet
But no. 3 would be having them go to court and end up paying a fine or doing community service.

Can't agree with 1 and 3, maybe #2 though if it's a child and what he or she has done was very severe.

I think when you show a parent screenshots about their child daily insulting a certain guy on twitter/youtube/whatever then they won't think "OH MY GOD MY CHILD INSULTS HIM EVERY DAY IN HORRIBLY DISGUSTING WAYS, HE CLEARLY STALKS THE LITTLE BOY!" Since the guy talked about "ideal punishment" it may not even be him showing up at the parent's doorstep, but maybe the police.

In fact, it can be argued that he's particularly malicious so there's no reason to keep him around. i dont disagree. but i think they can come to that same conclusion from just reviewing his posts on tl.net. the main problem with moderating non-tl.net actions is that what you will see will be abuse of the system, not legitimate moderation. be BM to one of the old boys' group, banned from tl.net. be one of the old boys' group and BMing people, no action taken. be BM to random tl.net user who reports you to tl.net mods, no action. Yeah, that's definitely something I agree with. If I remember correctly, there was such an issue with someone being banned on TL for bming on B.net and I really disagreed with that action. I think this is exactly why the occurrences of banning someone for something outside of TL is so rare. If you show that you're not the kind of person we'd like to have here at tl then I see absolutely no reason why we'd keep you here just because you didn't do it on tl itself. We either want you here or you don't, there's no "don't want you but technically we can't do anything". A few years ago there was a guy recounting how he raped a girl on tl, the fact that the rape happened in real life didn't make him any less distasteful or make me want him on the website more.
