And... Here... We.. Go...!!! It's been a crazy month, but we've finally arrived here at the grand finale! Polls are up, get to voting now! Time to find out this season's TLCMAT champion, the runner-up, and 3rd/4th place!
Since the other active thread is cluttered with voting and general questions at the moment, I am creating a place to hold TLCMAT-related discussion similar to lichter’s previous discussion/propaganda thread from Season 1. Here, you may discuss anything about the fabulous people in this contest. Share your favorites, whoever you think will win, or the people that no one should vote for. Additionally, if you are competing, introduce yourself and talk about why you are currently more awesome than anyone else on TL!
The present voting thread can be found here. Rules and nominees can be found here.
I have the stomach flu. Still I will try my best to get through this round. As mentioned in the nominations thread, I will deliver authentic shirtless programmer pics for each round I advance. Also, my ro48 group is awesome so vote for all of them too. They have all done badass stuff for the community.
Last quarter, it was announced by numerous industry analysts that E-Sports was growing at the best rate. A sign of trust, right? But not for us.
Our forums had a negative growth rate. Who's ever heard of this? It's never been below zero, even when Team Liquid splintered off into different sister sites.
Esports is growing, yet we are shrinking. People can't get quality discussions nor page views any more. The statistics are too horrible to even display in a public thread.
Our enemies are getting stronger and stronger by the day while we as a forum as getting weaker. Even our top quality articles don't reach front page of subreddits.
Our other contestants are all talk, no action. Remember that TL 1.5 update that broke Team Liquid for a couple of days? Sad! When I roll out updates, I hire the best people to test my updates. It costs me peanuts.
Well you need somebody because nothing is going to get done. They will not bring us, believe me, to the promised land of number one esports site. They do not even know how to.
I have been active on twitter talking to people. They ask me "XKCD, what are you going to discuss next?". They don't even talk about Reddit. When was the last time you heard "Reddit's killing us?" They're devaluating their post quality to a level that you wouldn't believe it makes it impossible for our forums to compete.
Impossible.
They're killing us, but you don't hear that from anyone else. You don't hear that from anyone else.
And I read the forums. I watch the discussions and they say "Oh we like it here. Things will get better. All sorts of wonderful things will happen".
But the people want activity. They want to engage in high quality talks while still have their dank memes.
We don't have that folks, we simply don't.
Our forums needs, our forums needs a truly great leader and we need a truly great leader now. We need a leader that wrote The Lombardi Factor. We need a leader that can bring back users, bring back content creation, bring back our community pros, and take care of our seniors.
We need somebody that can take the brand of Team Liquid and make it great again. It's not great.
I will be the greatest activity winner that god ever created, I tell you that.
When I started, I only had a small loan of one Team Liquid account. I work hard, and grew that into being on the Brood War staff and now preside over the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive section.
And these sections under my tutelage have received massive applaud. Many people love my work and the work my sections have done.
But why run for TLCMAT? Because I don't need anyone's pandering. It's nice. I don't need anyone's pandering. I'm using my own shitposting and analytical skills. I'm not using secret staff forums and Skype groups, I'm not using paid fanboys. I'm really awesome.
And by the way, I’m not even saying that to brag. That’s the kind of mindset, that’s the kind of thinking you need for this forum.
We got nothing. We have a dead Liquid Legends forum that is going to collapse, we have SC2 forum which has been bleeding in debt over the last years, we have more problems.
We're going to save it.
We're going to re-energize our forums. We're going to shitpost with the highest quality shitposts. We're going to grow the forums and make it so popular Liquid'Nazgul will come to me and complain "Oh XKCD, the Team Liquid forums are too busy for us to control it".
We must take great care to not allow ourselves to become GosuGamers. We must not become another name in the back of a history books.
Sadly, the Team Liquid forums are dead. But if I get elected winner of TLCMAT Season 3 I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make Team Liquid great again.
So now this is a bit shitty, me going against Clubfan in the first match, who i do not really want to shit-talk about because he is just so awesome. Real talk here: Clubfan does a lot of great things on Liquipedia, and we work together all the time. Therefore: Clubfan and i must prevail and win the group. In case Clubfan and i both make it out of the group, i promise to compile a top 5 of most awesome Liquipedia things ever, from epic pages, over epic extensions to epic saves and awesomeness no one outside of regular Liquipedia contributors ever saw.

Vote for me ..... err ... uhm .... because I'm probably the second or third oldest in the contest! Ohhh right promising stuff if I win .... err .. I'll make a "Rich and Cats" photo blog if I win the whole thing. and errr...... if I make it out of groups I'll make a "FO-nTTaX and Pizza" photo blog.
I have shitty group, SGTK autowin because not only SC2 but because he is the community itself, banjoe again SC2 writer autowin not like anyone has ever read what I've written or even if they have they haven't had much to say anyway(also hurts that I haven't written anything since January), I'd lose to sayle because hes sayle.
on the other hand I can make promises I won't need to keep because I'm going to lose.
If I place well enough in TLCMAT3 that might be enough leverage to get me into another tournament to do more interviews like DH Austin. Link is in my signature. Help me help you. + Show Spoiler +
just kidding, that's not actually how it works, have fun with this and vote for whomever you like ^_^
What FO-nTTaX said about me is 100% correct about him! He's even more awesome as he's also doing lots of CSS work for the CS:GO section, doing most of the work for the new Liquipedia skin and regularly developing extensions to the wiki. Also, he made it possible to embed LP into forum posts. Additionally, how am I supposed to shit-talk someone who loves pizza?!?!
Alright, how does one win that? I hope dank memes are not the way to go.

Vote for all the baguettes! \o/
We'll fight later. :>
On June 01 2016 17:08 Clubfan wrote: Additionally, how am I supposed to shit-talk someone who loves pizza?!?!
...I'm honored to be in Ro48, but I have no hope since I'm with: - a good looking girl who has the only issue to root for the wrong KT ; - the head of LP Dota; - one of the top editors of LP CS:GO
..the only thing I can say to try to save myself is that I'm the only italian guy in this tournament and if you cut me off from the Ro48 you'll have no real pizza for the rest of the tournament... think wisely!
Well, apparently I too was nominated to be part of this gentlemen's competition, what a great honor!
Surely the bracket must be rigged though, I would never fight Aeromi. Indeed, he is a man of many accomplishments and an example of passion in our community. I could never say anything bad about him. An advice to the organizers of this competition may be adequate though: If you have no rulebook for this, you're in for a bad time! Daily tweets, enormous amounts of bad press. Indeed, Aeromi's passion could accidently prove catastrophical for this entire event. So if people want this to continue without having to pay for YUUUUGE amounts of bureaucracy, without having to read through 500 pages of rules before voting, please think about casting your vote for me. I pledge to keep the TLCMAT simple and traditional, no complicated rules and barrages of passive-aggressive tweets.
As for my other contenders, I hope you'll vote for Musicus in the second match of the group. He's a passionate member of the community, he's very active in posting community news and his best characteristic is not being Soularion.
This Canadian isn't even watching and playing StarCraft 2 exclusively, can you believe it? He is a dirty follower of League of Legends and soils the TL Writers Chat with talk and chatter about this disgusting waste of pixels and computing powers. He's also a blinded Maru fanboy, who denies the glory of our lord and sexy saviour Zest.
As for me, well. What am I but a humble servant? I have pledged my heart and all my energy to this scene and this community, be it while writing or taking pictures, while translating or interviewing. I'll be at your service. *dramatic trumpets and drums*
TOAU is the worst kind of person; not only does he like Zest, but he isn't even original in it! The only reason why he likes watching Zest is because he won GSL, he's a poser of a fan, and if he had it his way then herO would win every tournament in the universe. Not only that, but he's also a complete scrub who lacks the balls to write for WCS. Can any of you remember something he's written? Exactly. My first and foremost pledge in this competition is to beat TOAU here just as badly as I beat him in the Writer's Draft. If TOAU was a sc2 player he'd be KrasS; Musicius would at least be someone kinda cool like HeRoMaRinE or HasuObs or something. Vote for me if you like foreign players, or poutine, or Bal-Sagoth. holyshitcdrereleaseohboyohboyohboy
As an honorary baguette (come on guys I'm from Quebec that's close enough) I have to ask for you guys to vote for Aeromi, Ragnarok, OtherWorld, Shloub, Yhamm and PTSM; you guys should know the big writers by now, but vote for them too.
Lastly, here's my first reward tier! Starting soon (with luck today/tomorrow) I'll be posting a music-related blog every now and then. If I beat Musicius, every blog will include a list of four of five songs I've started listening to recently as well as a paragraph of additional writing. If you want introductions to metal or rap or just cool music in general : Vote Soularion!
Lyin' Soularion can't be trusted guys: Not only would not herO win every tournament in the universe if I had my way, it would be ByuL. Second: I did write for WCS in the past. Clearly lyin' Soularion has no idea what he's even talking about. SAD!
On June 01 2016 13:10 BLinD-RawR wrote: I can do scenes from BW staff chat if I make it through Ro48.
includes stuff like "101 ways of calling BigFan a dodger" and "How would we raise a kid?"
For the sake of decency please no ^_^ (the former is extremely indecent)
@xkcd, where you going to put up the wall? And who's going to pay for it?
We will have a big, beautiful wall protecting all of our game sections, our blogs, our community forums, and US Politics Mega Thread is going to pay for it!
We have a massive activity deficit with the US Politics Mega Thread. We're losing thousands of posts monthly to them. It has to stop folks!
They send in all of their shitposters, but those people are no good. They're not the best. They're not you folks.
We will have a great big beautiful wall! They can come into Team Liquid, but they have to come in LEGALLY folks! LEGALLY!
In my defense I spelled it right but Ragnarork has the fucking red line under it so I auto-corrected it ;_;
And yeah TOAU, you wrote for WCS in the past; but then I had to come in to make WCS great again. Just Little Marco folks, nothing more to see here. Good job on being a ByuL fan, by the way. Don't worry, I'll make sure you win as many matches here as ByuL won finals.
I didn't even know this was going on till i got the pm
I will promise absolutely nothing! I will still argue whenever i can that Taeja is kinda overrated, i will still sigbet anyone who doesn't think KT is best KT, from time to time i will still do the community power rankings and i will also still post a lot of other nonsense in whatever thread is active atm.
So yeah there is that, good luck and have fun i guess.
Okay, turns out I somehow got voted into this, what a surprise, thanks!
I landed in a group with Aeromi, TheOneAboveU and Soularion.
So why should you vote for me???
Well, you shouldn't!
All of those guys have way more passion than me and are doing some real work for esports . All I do is have fun in LR threads, share some news I saw on Twitter and that's it.
So please give your vote to any of my competitors and I'll just enjoy the show.
If you still vote for me I promise to give you nothing in return and I will just chill out on TL in the same way I always have.
I'm in a group with stuchiu and Shellbot, so obviously I'm boned. But the degree of boned is still up in the air. So do the right thing and vote for someone who deserves it.
On June 02 2016 02:02 Aeromi wrote: Do not vote for me.
Why not?
Because on TL I'm not doing a lot of things anymore, Musicus has done a lot of LR/thread this year. TheOneAboveU did some great interviews and Soularion did some nice PR. I have done very little this year, time to let the new generation get some fame

You have community in your title, you are also among the most beloved members of not only the TL community but the SC2 community in general, so stop worrying and ride the ez win wave.
After all this isn't really about the contributors, otherwise it would have been LP staff autowin.
On June 02 2016 03:03 opisska wrote: What have OW, Viper and Elentos ever done remotely useful to be in this contest? )
Well, that's our way of living things which clearly excites the crowds. Everyone's doing something useful : writer, mod, admin, staff member, quality poster, etc. We? We just (shit)post, over and over again, we sigbet, we preach that KT is best KT, we post and have useless debates instead of doing something remotely constructive (though, it should be noted, Viper is doing the Community Power Rank and Elentos often does LR threads). We lazily enjoy the life of your average Liquidian.
We're regular folks. We don't have any privileges. We come from the masses, and speak for them. We're not "useful". And that's why you, and everyone, should vote for us.
I may have accidentally posted this in the wrong thread. This is pretty awkward.
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a bribe, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you vote for me now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find your favourite players, and I will Writers Curse them into oblivion.
So I'd just like to take a moment to give a huge shout-out to the Liquipedia staff, regulars, contributors who have made team liquid great.
Tephus (Group A) Is the head of the Dota 2 wiki. Has contributed a tonne and made sure dota 2 is now on the throne in the esports scene for Dota 2.
CynicalDeath (Group A) Big contributor. I don't know to much about him but he's the 7th person in the edit rankings, from just editing sc2 (well one (yes 1) edit on SC1 as well.)
Ragnarork (Group A) is trial staff currently for the wiki (full staff writer) is mostly doing counterstrike and has been with our wiki since the very early days of us in the merging of clanwiki and kniferound.
Seeker (Group B) Contributes mostly to the SC2 wiki, is not afraid to ask when he doesn't know something. Even created a SQSA thread for all contributors, which is the most popular thread in our contributor forum.
Yhamm (Group B) This man has retired from editing but is still the #1 editor of all of liquipedia. Did mostly tournament results .... but he did like almost all of the ones for SC2 and Dota 2.
ChapatiyaqPTSM (Group B) Head of SC2 wiki. Has created lots of amazing things and keeps even more active like the main page for the mobile skin and the WCS rankings. He's also created a site so we can track all contributors on the wiki. (Which I used writing this list only mentioning people in the top 100 or top 10 for a particular wiki, (I think I got a bit lazy))
Inflicted (Group C) One of the most active editors on SC2 wiki currently has been editing for years and years and is like top 6 over all in editing numbers.
Darking (Group C) Currently trial staff as well. Is one of the more active editors on the SC2 wiki and has been doing us very proud in the StarCraft2 Improve Team League.
SNSeigfried (Group C) Big contributor to the SC2 wiki. Keeps tournaments up to date.
Aeromi (Group D) ranked #75 in edits, edited SC2 but not super active any more still does some "French stuff" (as FO put it.)
BLinD-RawR (Group E) Updates SC1 wiki. (which is usually pretty under appreciated work so hopefully you can all give him(?) some love (or at least votes) today!
Clubfan (Group F) German Staff member who is our expert in SMW which is a database structure within the wiki. It helps us reduce the amount of edits we need to update one change in multiple places on the wiki. He's one of the most prolific editors as well and makes contributions for all of our wikis.
FO-nTTaX (Group F) The other German person. His bot has raked up an insane amount of edits fixing tiny things here and there and he himself is probably the person who has done the most spread out work. He now works out of the TLHQ cause he's a great coder and does fancy graphic designs real websites for TLPRO. And he's also helming the production of our new skin for the wiki.
Shloub (Group I) Our Smash Staffer who is keeping the smash wiki alive and well during the big competitions.
prech (Group J) Our BW Staffer who is doing a lot to keep the BW wiki alive. He's got more edits on BW than the next two people in the rankings.
Plexa (Group L) Honourable mention to the man who was the first head of the Liquipedia project, up until it's launch pretty much.
Liquipedia has become a pretty big part of the TL network. (The biggest in terms of traffic at least as far as I know.) So I hope you'll give some of the great people involved in this huge project some well deserved love.
Do the right thing and vote for Shloub who does a lot more for the TL community than i do! While i think it's kinda fun that i am in this contest, i also think pretty much anybody in this tournament deserves it more! At the end of the day i simply post a little, argue a lot and be a god in liquibets
Why vote for him you say? Here are a few key points
* He is Mexican, therefore he has a pretty cool foreign accent. * He has helped both Teamliquid and Liquipedia for years. * He has a Community Commander portrait in Starcraft 2. This is a very rare portrait only given to the best of the best in Blizzard's eyes. twitter.com * He tweets! * He is the bridge between Liquipedia and the Latin American community. * He has co-casted many games of LickyPiddy, Liquipedia's community team. You can watch them here! * Played for several seasons alongside other Liquipedia people in the SC2ITL, putting the name of Liquipedia out there. * Gives shoutouts to Liquipedia and Team Liquid everytime he has the chance while on stream. * He makes awesome banners for the Copa América TL threads. Just look at some of his work! THIS, and THIS, of course THIS, THIS as well, a classic, and an epic one.

Your matchup was one I was undecided on, and this convinced me to vote you, so congrats :D
It is a sad day to see that the Liquipedia Cabal, and all of the low energy staffers who are fine with losing to the reddit mobs, but we will keep fighting to make Team Liquid Great Again!
Remember the launch of Liquid Legends? They're all talk, no action folks! They cant make good content for you folks. They don't even know what they're doing. Top tier writers have already left for other sites folks. We can't let that happen any more. We're losing!
Remember Team Liquid users, the staffers do not work for you, they work for themselves. Only I can win for Team Liquid!
We have a movement folks Lets make Team Liquid Great Again!!
Ok real talk here: Group F results should be evry clear, because we all know who the real bosses are: Liquipedia staff members. Vote FO-nTTaX and Clubfan for more Liquipedia awesomeness <3

Gotta vote 2Pac for upholding the legacy of this website (SC1 section) and helping develop shield battery. Plus he's my fearless leader.
I condemn the anti-German sentiment in Group D! Just let us take over, teamliquid will be so much more efficient. The French and French-Canadians will just strike all the time and force you to speak their language!

You guys already got a WCS champion! And a TLCMAT champion! And look where that got us : pretty much the same place, because neither of those are actually relevant to TL NOWHERE.
Vote Canada.
We might not be efficient, but at least we're nice.
Wonder if I should prepare some rewards, considering I might lose this match against Tephus, and the decider should be a tough one as well...
Alright, if I get out of groups, I'll whip out some kind of monthly or bi-monthly blog. CS related, can be anything, might include stuff about the team we're trying to put up with a few TL peeps (how we approach it, the struggles and the successes, etc.), some informal thoughts about something CS that wouldn't warrant a whole article, that kind of stuff.
Nazgul hadn't even realised he won his first match or lost his second match! Clearly this is not important to him as he is too busy rolling around in sick TL money!
I'm still in it?!?!? this is a new one... I've always been out in two straight rounds earlier....
Uhm .... if I make it into the next round ........ I'll make a food blog with a recipe of one of the things I cook regularly for the people here at the HQ which they think is good enough for me to write about.
Please vote for me over Olli, we all know that no one except him wants to live in a world where only PvP exists. Also, as a Frenchman, I can bring you good food (baguette, croissant, pot au feu, your call) and good wine.

I am afraid you would accept a world where only ZvZ exists and I don't see how is that any better PvP is actually quite fun lately.

Members of the ROACH are tolerant towards inferior species, as proved by the fact that said species still exist while ROACH ROACH ROACH could have annihilated them long ago. We even let inferior species win in PvP and TvT.
Voting ROACH needs no justification, no explanation, no reasoning. ROACH is your instinct, your heart and your brain ; ROACH is the natural way of things, how things should be and how things are. ROACH.
If I win my match against Seeker, I will be writing a behind-the-scenes thoughts for every 'official' writing piece I write. This works as well for small GSL matches as it does for big WCS PRs- this includes glimpses into the writer's skype chat, personal thoughts on the matchups, and small comments on the style of the article.
Pretty rough group, but I think I can make it work.
The system is honestly worse then WCS 2016. I know this is just for fun and I don't have any real grudges against you because of it. That doesn't mean I am not gonna shittalk you for putting people from one Ro48 group into the same Ro24 group. It literarily makes less sense than an average fluidrone post.

from the thread starting post.
Also maybe Soularion hired him as campaign manager.
Well, I'll be damned Completely forgot about that part. Very well opisska, swing away. Just be warned though, cross the admin of this tournament in the wrong way and shit may not go well for you or the people you're vouching for.

That's an interesting trend, there is a kindof a meme between my FB friends, when frequently in political or other opiniated discussions they proclaim that I should be the country's president. Great minds think alike?
I really hope I didn't ruffle anyone's feathers, I thought that trashtalk is acceptable in these kinds of settings, when nothing is really at stake, steak or any combination thereof. I have never met Seeker, or anyone from TL for that matter in person, but I think he's a pretty fine bloke from his online presence.

To thank Yhamm for calling to vote for me, and to wear Liquipedia’s colors the best I can, I will try to be more active than in the previous rounds. So here are some reasons you should vote for me!
I edit Liquipedia SC2 almost daily. I started on 1 July 2011. I have made at least an edit (average ~15 edits) in 1574 days out of the 1806 days since then (87%), and in 345 days out of the last 366 days (94%). I also helped a lot of people over the years. I have contributed in a smaller way to all the other wikis (including an extension to grab data from the Dota 2 API for matches).
I’ve been maintaining TLPD for Legacy of the Void. Many people prefer to use Aligulac now, but TLPD has maps too, and at least I use it for Liquibets.
WHY VOTE DARKING OVER Olli See my previous post. Basically the same points also work here, except Olli has a flag, but the Mexican flag is cooler than the Austrian one. We have an eagle eating a snake, live on the flag!

Do you enjoy our Road to Blizzcon series? I've worked on every single one, writing at least two articles for each, as well as outlining the whole story for the last one.

It's actually crazy that I beat monk. Like, I remember being a fan of monk back when he was playing Hearthstone, and the fact that I'm 'technically' more popular than him on TL - even though insignificant - is really, really fucking cool.
I am really surprised that i am still in this. Who the hell votes for me? While i would lie if i said that it doesn't please me to some extent, on the other hand i know that everybody else still in the tournament deserves the votes a lot more.
So yeah, thanks to my 'supporters' i guess, but ask yourself if me having an opinion on everything (and a little bit of other stuff) is really enough at this point.

I have already beaten lichter once, you already know the correct choice, so go on and vote DARKING
Alright boys, you know the deal. Mad at Seeker for knocking out one of your favorites, from Aeromi to Shellshock to Nazgul? Now you can officially vote against bad luck, by voting Soularion.
Mad that no French people are left in the tournament? Pick a French-Canadian, and get the next best thing!
Support the last canadian player, and (at least I'm pretty fucking sure) the youngest person left in this tournament.
With the conclusion of the group stages for Ro12, it is now time to decide the final two players that will advance into the Ro8. Here we go! Round Robin time! Get your votes in now!
Ro12 Round Robin has now officially concluded. It's time for the playoffs! First off are the winner interviews. Please take the time to read them so you can see exactly who you want to vote for. Ro8 polls will be up tomorrow, stay tuned!
Ro8 matches have now officially started! It's time for the playoffs! I hope everyone enjoyed the interviews. Now let's figure out the best of the best!

Thanks KBB. I assumed you just told a couple of your lackey's to hold back some votes to give me the edge. Insider trading and all. Pretty sure I can beat FO-nTTaX again assuming he's still lost in an IKEA and can't campaign.
Hell i never was in the ikea, i just assembled the stuff JunoTheCat bought because i am a nice person.
If i actually win this, i promise another Liquipedia blog this year, and a small guide on nice places in Utrecht to chill at. I can also provide some pictures of the Team Liquid offices.
Edit: Other than that, remember i am responsible for more than 200 000 Liquipedia edits, my CSS powers the articles that multiple sections of the page have, from SC2 and Brood war over Counter-Strike and Smash.
And... Here... We.. Go...!!! It's been a crazy month, but we've finally arrived here at the grand finale! Polls are up, get to voting now! Time to find out this season's TLCMAT champion, the runner-up, and 3rd/4th place!
