The spells won't scale well if you distribute your points across all three :x After the Invoker nerf in 6.74, several professional Chinese Invoker players would skill Quas Wex Invoker was 3 Quas->5 Wex->then max Exort, getting the 4th rank Quas somewhere in there for Forge Spirits. This results in a pretty evenly-split distribution of skill points, but plays very reasonably. I like this style the most personally, though I don't play Invoker very much. I am pretty much yet to see a QE Invoker be as useful to my team in a pub as even the shittiest QW. The thing about quas exort is that without tornado EMP you miss out on a lot of utility and teamfight control, and with most Invokers this means you end up being nothing but forge spirit+coldsnap right-click carry, and carries are rarely in a short supply. Combine this with the way Sunstrike has the Pudge/SF syndrome that if you miss once, you'll get flamed by idiot pubs for the rest of the game.
With an Exort invoker you end up being able to output a lot of damage in teamfights, with the tornado-meteor-deafening blast combo, and forge spirits are very useful to have as well, you dont have to just end up being a right click carry and you shouldn't

I've got a QQ, and the opposite of one, all in a single post:
So I'm trying to practice Faceless Void. In the original dota he was my favourite hero, and I was able to get decent chrono placements all the time (at least considering my mediocre pub skills), but I've been having trouble landing them for some reason in Dota 2 (I dunno, it just feels....different....somehow). So, I decided to sit down and practice my faceless void. And I had four terrible games in a row. Some were my fault (I realize now that I built my void wrong in the first game and got trounced in the late game, for example), but other's were just feed fests on the part of my allies. The last of the four was a nightmare, where the veno I was laning with missed first blood attacking creeps and subsequently died, I died because of a terribly unlucky spike that made me wander into the enemy tower against a VS, and with the veno I was laning with refused to subsequently hug the tower and just constantly insta-died to a leshrac-VS combo.....brutal.
Anyhow, I played a fifth game, and all I thought as the game started was "god damn, I wish I could get some decent support". And I did! I had a rhasta and an ES that straight up won that game. They held the enemy off of me the whole game to let me creep, helped me farm neutrals in the early game when the enemy heros kept the lane near their tower (the OD was really good at denying and lane management), and all around kept me safe. We ended up winning, and I went 10-0-16, all because I had two awesome supports helping me out the whole game. So, to that rhasta and ES: huzzah! You guys rock, and supports that actually support make playing Dota 2 awesome!

We have lost one tier 1 tower, started pushing enemy racks and our bh had like 15-0 at that point. I write to them to not get cocky and just play safe. Nope, BH gets rapier, proceds to die with, enemy ursa which had very little farm to that point begins to rape and slowly turns game back.

Hehe, I have a similar curse on Kunkka. I love that hero and I'm playing him decent. But most of the time when I choose him, I just get the worst team imaginable and we are getting stomped ^^

Holy fuck I came so close to having the worst game ever just now.
Start of the game, all 5 enemies random and get Tinker, Doom, BH, Tiny and Furion. WTF what kind of insane ganking lineup is that? My brother and I run KOTL and PL on the bottom lane, other 3 people pick Storm spirit, Lone druid and veno.
Both druid and veno are late to their top lane, and soon veno DCs blaming lag. Druid pauses the game, and only then I took a look at the items that my teammates had bought:
Storm went mid and bought bottle first. Lone druid bought a QB on bear, 2 slippers and 1 healing salve on hero. Veno bought a wraith band first.
Later after veno DCs and doesn't come back, this bear asks KOTL to come up top (we are laning against tiny and doom) because he apparently couldn't handle a lane that consisted of BH and furion. Yeah fuck man, Lone druid is one the weakest laners and absolutely can't solo the danger lane, let's put KOTL on top because PL and KOTL have absolutely no synergy and PL can do fine against a tiny and doom... wat? In the end this dumbass ends up jungling despite there being free lanes most of the game. Pubs need to wise up and just stop picking lone druid; I have never seen so much stupidity before.
So how did I manage to escape this game? Veno DCs and abandons the game before anyone dies, so the game didn't count.
edit: I'm seriously considering just playing lycan 1273012739023 times until I get placed into the 'High' MMR bracket...is this a good idea? It just seems like if I'm not playing a solo carry then it's almost impossible to win games because people just stop farming after like 10 minutes into the game.

If 1 person on the enemy team has any brain he will a) pick Enchantress, b)ward your camps or c) do both. And then you lose, because if there's one thing pub players hate, it's helping out others.

That would only make you lose much more often after you stop picking whatever "OP" hero you choose to bump your MMR. It's the classic story, you + 4 idiots should beat 5 idiots, so if you are not moving up there are good chances your teammates are not always so much worse than you. Since it seems you play with someone else, it's even easier to move up. The only situation I could see that working would be if you just started playing, to move up faster to the bracket you "deserve", but this kind of system ussually is much quicker to upgrade you if you only have a few games anyway.

what i adore about pubs is probably the ignorant eu kiddos exclaiming that all russians are bad on the sole basis of them being russian, and putting me on the list automatically without even thinking about how well did i perform i am a quite decent invoker/sf/sd player, albeit i never fail to have a game without eu kids, brainwashed to the extent of "omg dud stfu u talk too much :DDDD", "99% russians suk noobs :DDDD" did they even meet at least 0.000005% russians in their entire life? ask yourself that question before you type "all rusins suk lyl :DDD" on the topic, i've seen subhuman drones who managed to report me for stealing a single kill from them in a lost out-of-position teamfight after which they reported my meld location to the enemy and adviced them to get dust

So true. I've won about 6 games as VS in a row. Just gank a few times and even if you don't get the kill you still make the other team too wary to contest lanes properly. That and buy wards. Your carry will walk away with all the glory but you will know that you pretty much won the game with nothing but treads, wand and a bracer. And like 8 sets of wards.
OK I take this back.
Played as VS with an AM on my team. He goes Treads->Vlads->Bfury->Vanguard->Yasha->Eaglesong(horn?)->lose game.
No Manta at 45 minutes.
Farmed enemy dire ancients while we were fighting at their bot T2 tower.
Got hooked by pudge+dismembered. I stun+howl pudge, our NP sprouts him and AM together, pudge dying fast, AM has higher health than him but blinks away.
Never had a carry with so much farm be so useless.

Thats what happens when they put vlads on the recommended item list.

Lycan is the best to win games hard.
If you play lycan 24/7 though, consider taking a shower, because that is just dirty

Yeah after a few games I have to stop because it feels like cheating
Although it is hilarious sometimes to just farm the jungle with wolves + hero doing separate camps and just go crazy on the farm, I did this once and got 200 cs in just under 25 minutes, felt like Burning
edit: except he did it with a morphling, wat a beast

Gank squads, wards, the whole package every single game. I don't pick him anymore because of that, instead I wait for someone on the enemy team to make that mistake, then get the free gold.

Im also in normal right now after being dropped after they changed the MMR system, and I have like a 80% winrate with lycan. never have I seen someone ward my camps. (although a decent percentage of those I had random gold which makes lycan ridiculous.)

Odd because I have a smurf account where I play with friends and I have randomned lycan before and I can just go uncontested and get a 8min vlads medalion rosh pretty much and basically win the game by the 20 minute mark. They don't ward or even enter my jungle at all.
|
You both aren't playing against me obviously
Games I pick Lycan tend to be the same games where I'm up against a 5-man stack with trilane and everything, and where my team feeds to all hell, so there's that as well. Don't get me wrong, Lycan is amazing, but he can be shut down hard.

Ofcourse he can, but that is unlikely to happen in mid level mmr from what I have experienced.

Heh, regarding the recent Invoker discussion, I just played with one of those nightmarish exortvokers I seem to exclusively have on my team. He ended up going 1 quas 1 wex max exort. All he did the entire game was autoattack and sunstrike, having ghostwalk permanently in the other spell slot. At the end of the game, with his 0-7 score, he of course flamed the team for "no mek".
This person also had almost 500 wins.

Played with a reddit stack. Worst fucking idea ever. Worst players I've seen in my life. Period. SD+Riki dies 6x to a phantom assassin soloing the hardlane. What the fuck.
