There are still heroes I'll probably repick because I don't feel comfortable with them (Meepo, Wisp and Visage come to mind) but I find one bot game as a hero is enough to learn how he should be played, then it's just up to not being a bad player.

Trilane is considered 'standard play' for many people. With random heroes I would still consider it easier to run a 1-1-3 with a defensive trilane with a shafted offlane hero than go 2-1-2, running the risk of losing both sidelanes.

I've never braved Meepo but I find Visage, and even Lone Druid, more challenging to play than Invoker (lots of practice mashing keyboard to create spells from Magicka). Kinda unfortunate from a Starcraft background to not be able to control two units at once :/ Then again, I did read up on Invoker and played against bots with him first. Just get out of position a few steps and the next thing you know, that orb walk trick is killing you. Once laned with a Drow as Venge at bottom (Dire side) against a Huskar and someone else. The other guy decides to pull creeps every now and then so that Huskar can tower hug and still get XP from creeps. You know how sometimes when the pulled creeps go back to the lane, you get to push the lane? The Huskar made a mistake of getting out of position, a stun and orb walked frost arrows killed him. Well, they continued to feed anyway.

Winning really isn't any fun either when you know its only because "the random meepo is 0-25-3". Whats the big deal anyways? Why the opposition to practice? This seems like the most logical first step anyone would take when familiarizing themselves with something new. You play vs bots when you try out new builds in sc2, you play singleplayer in fifa before going online, you play practice mode in tekken before trying out that 19 button combo mash, etc. The line of thinking that a player is ruining somebody's experience by playing poorly is misguided. They ruin their own experience by having unreasonable expectations, then having those expectations inevitably crushed. For example, expecting that people actively practice heroes, builds or strategies before engaging in a multiplayer game is an unreasonable expectation. As logical as it may seem to you, playing practice games or even reading in-depth guides is not the way most people care to spend their time - especially not as a service to other players. People simply do not feel the need or pressure to play well in every game they play, and consider it perfectly fine if they screw up a game or two by trying out a new hero.

Come back to lane, manage to kill Puck once when he got greedy (level 4 versus level 8, now), starting to feel okay... then my connection completely dies and due to another disconnect a few days before - welcome to LPQ!

I don't read in depth guides either. But I do expect people to try out Invoker in singleplayer before going online with him..Is that really unreasonable? I don't expect people to play perfectly all the time, I sure don't. But I find it weird that its unresonable to expect people to know that you don't skill stun first if you're going to jungle with Enigma, or that going middle with bristleback exclaiming that you're a "tank!" is not going to make this game fun for anyone, including yourself.

So basically what you say is that you don't like losing, you do realize though that in a multiplayer, on average people will have a 50% winrate. Without matchmaking if you are a bad player you will get rolled over every game, and if you're good you'd just roll over terrible players which is not fun either after a while. Not to mention that people would whine even more about the teamates they get. Finally, not it doesn't force 50% rate, it just tries to put you against people that you have a 50% chance to win against, it's different. Of course after a winning streak your mmr goes up, so you'll play against better players and/or have slighly worse teamates.

If you're that insecure and if you can't enjoy yourself in a game you're not winning handily, you need to stop taking yourself so seriously.

Don't worry bro, you can play against easy bots, you win 100% of the games!

Why is everyone so insanely defensive as if I'm insulting their mothers? All I'm saying is, Dota2 makes you win, let's say, 10 games in a row... then you lose 10 games in a row, and it almost never fails. I have no problem with losing, I spent most of my time in Brood War losing, and I fucking loved every second of it. I just don't like the fact that I'm being forced into this cyclicity, it is incredibly boring.

I really wish valve wouldn't rematch you with people you've already muted. Had this asshat in my game playing slark who started out muted (e.g. I had already muted him when playing with him previously). I didn't remember him at all, so it must've been awhile ago. Well, I unmute him when I discovered it about ten minutes into the game. Turns out, he's a totally douche, and I have him muted again by minute twenty. He feeds, and then bitches out teammates the whole game and actually refused to participate in team-fights when they 5-man pushed mid, blatantly admitting he was doing so. Why am I matched with this guy? He was an asshole once, and he was an asshole again. I feel like if Valve implemented a system that purposely didn't match you with people you've muted, it would actually help a lot. If people got muted a lot, they should be matched with other assholes who tend to get muted a lot. I guess it would probably be too complex, though. Alas.

played with an am that went treads-->vlads-->basher No. Battlefury. In. Sight. in the same game was a mag that went treads-->BATTLEFURY HUIRRDURR It's not like he has built in cleave or anything The fucking stupid part is that I have to play with these people to get enough wins to eventually get in a good stack since no one takes anyone under 200 wins. Nor does the one in SC2.

Oh, and there's no way this am was doing it because it was a legit build. He also bought no regen at the start and went immediate ring of regen vs a drow+veno lane
