This isn't Dota QQ but I consider this forum my favorite place on the internet so fuck it.
I work in a science lab and the project I am working on has a very stringent deadline. I am currently in the crunch time before that deadline, working about 14-16 hours a day for the last 9 days. 12 hours ago when I started my work, I was on track to finish by working 16 hours over the next 3 days (friday, saturday, sunday) and finish by my deadline, Monday at 9 am. Unfortunately, I flubbed the last step in an experiment which takes about 9 hours. So now my 16 hour day is at least a 30 hour day (Due to the order and timing of specific experiments). To top it off, I have 0 money until payday on the first and had been living off nothing but bell peppers and lunch meat for the last week. I drove home after my failure of an experiment to cool down a bit and pick up some food and the last bit of coffee beans in my fridge. On the way back to work, about 200ft from the parking lot, my car finally runs out of gas and dies. So now I am stuck at work until I get money on the first, I can't sleep for another 16 hours (and when I can, it will be head down on a desk in my office), and I have 3 bell peppers, a package of turkey meat, and whatever is in the fridge at work to last me to the 1st. My pride prevents me from taking handouts (fairly new at the job and I really really don't want to show signs of weakness).
But hey, I have a few clothes in my car, there is a shower here, I always pack a toothbrush, and the star series final is going on. There is a chance I can get a friend to get me gas so I can get home after monday but who knows. I will never complain about shitty match making or pubs ever again.

I hate fucking Lich... The hero doesn't even require any skill... Just use sacrifice on CD and spam Nova every now and then, and the enemy can be happy if they can stay in exp range.... And even then they will end up being underleveled due to sacrifice...

a) It seems that Dota 2 likes to punish you for playing with friends. If you premake and there is more or less a skill "gap" between members of the group, you are going to get screwed by matchmaking no matter what. It'll put you against 5 tryhards or enemies way out of the group's league.
I was always curious what does tryhard mean actually? Because first I thought it means someone who tries his best to win, which in my opinion is always a commendable thing. But every time I see this word, it seems like its used in a negative meaning. So please explain it to me what do you mean by it, or why is trying hard a bad thing?
Did you say that because you are new to the game or you are quite an elist to say the least. There are many things that we dont do in pub game because they are pub games, in contrast to scrim/cw/tourney.
for the obvious examples: 1.is there any random pick in AP? usually there is 1-3 people randomed at the start, tryhards last minute pick all the counter hero or gay dual laning or pick gay combos at start. they play the exact same heroes for 100 games and their sole purpose is just to win the game. obviously everyone wants to win game but tryhards are desperate and rage very hard if they lost. is a fcking pub game and non-tryhards just want to have some fun.
2.dust/antiward since min1. i dont really go ward to prevent pulling but when i see the oppo team has a distinct advantage in their line up and i want my carry to have a slightly better lane, i go ward. tryhards will deward immediately....you dont even see players in comp games deward that frequently. or like i once saw a dazzle who went dust the whole game because we have a sandking in team......
the bottomline is i hope everyone who do solo queue now understand that AP is a no go.

go solo mid do the old carry lich :3 you will kill nonstop after you get 6 and that requires some skills. and i think that 'underleveled' is quite exaggerating, it is not like you will get a one level exp difference lol

I wish I could just cut out all the rocks and shit. Even in sc2 it's annoying. I don't want a pulsating zerg ui or anything. I just want to see the game =(

why do i always have a sniper on my team, hes so fucking bad

My internet took a shit and I got disconnected from a game briefly. I fixed the problem and reconnected to the game about a minute later, and our team won the game. I got back to the lobby and realized that it counted as a loss and an abandoned game.

From my experience if you are playing with someone new from LoL as their only MOBA experience, you are going to have a horrible time and you can expect them to feed. Just last night I played a game with a former LoL'er new to DOTA and he died 10 times in the first 7 minutes and was level 8 by the 25 minute mark. I was playing Weaver and he was my lane partner. Wasn't a good game.

I guess people use the word with several different meanings. My meaning wasn't directed at those who gank, push, etc... but to people, normally decent/good at the game, which abuse the most broken picks/strats in AP mode (never would go through in CM due to bans and such) and/or wait (the full team) as long as it takes to counterpick people who maybe just randomed or not picked the very best heroes. For example, one game I was playing with two or three friends. We get to hero selection, and they insta pick the following lineup (talking about 1.5-2 months ago): Invoker, Anti-Mage, Tidehunter, Prophet, Shadow Shaman, then proceed to talk shit about how much they owned you (took their 55 mins to win but npnp). I feel it as being quite the cheese, and disgusting, especially in AP. In this case, the word would mean "trying too hard as if it was a tournament game and being dicks about it" in an All Pick matchmaking game.
Imo that's the only time the complaint is justified... when people in AP mode pick insane hero comps or lanes off the bat or after the other team picks. Everything else is silly. I LIKE when the enemy team dewards/dusts/smokes, it makes the game more dynamic and interesting.
I really wish there was something in between AP and CM. Something like a fast paced, but ordered, AP picking setup. Maybe something like each person gets to pick 1, ban 1, and their total turn can only take 15-30s.
Lol players tend to overestimate their safety. They aren't used to accurate skill shots, low survivability, and no flash.

Yeah that's it. I'm not angered by people playing the game well (warding, dewarding, ganking, using smoke...). I'm just annoyed with OP picks/counterpicks/various woes of AP mode, and with the absurd MMR "boost" that matchmaking has for premades which makes suicidal to play with friends when there's some skill gap between premade members, or the exaggerated MMR boost for 5-manning. I mean, I personally don't enjoy solo queuing, this game is made, IMHO, to play with your friends.
And about the game modes, yeah, I'd be all for an AP with 1 pick 1 ban each, even if it's everyone-at-once instead of turns, or a captain's draft (I think it's called like that... captain does the bans, then every one picks their hero following the normal CM turns).

Oh well. I know the feeling. I want to pretty much kill everysingle Brazilian dota player (even tho I'm one of them. Not as bad, or at least I hope so) I used to run a professional team and I used to sign players from chile/Argentina just to avoid brazilians. So much bm and nonsense. I'm pretty happy that they got their own servers in dota2, haha.

Oh come on, tryhard is such a terrible word used by bad people when they lose. Ofc a Dazzle will carry dust if you have a sk. He would be fucking bad if he doesnt have one. The thing that I hate the most in pub is people congratulating each other when they win but blaming the team whe they lose a fight in the same game.

How long does it take for someone to get banned? I asked someone if they were AFK because they were and then he decided to feed and constantly call me racial slurs.
Question 2: Why are you allowed to buy 15 couriers and why does the entire team benefit so much from killing one?

Soloing against him is nightmare. You wont get levels and you will be constantly hit by nova. Luckily he is played as support most of the games on sidelane where you can gank him easily.

I like Random Draft for that reason actually. And when the game goes live there will probably be enough players that you don't have to queue for AP, and still get a game in reasonable time.
Also, I hope that 5, and even 4 man stacks will get a different queue too (again, when the game will have enough players to support it). Other than that, its really unlikely that without prior discussion, the whole enemy team would pick a 5 man lineup that works perfectly together.

its mostly dewarding though When I get my paws on dota 2, I would really wanna try Synderen's pushing strat. Level 1 roshan, win in 12 minutes. Seems pretty hilarious.
Edit: I'm still using dota 1 lingo.
