My other recent team fails to mention:
- Had someone on my team say "We need a tank" after someone else on our team had already picked Axe. No joke, and they weren't trolling either.
- Had someone random Riki, and then another teammate picks Bounty hunter 10 seconds later. Loss.
- Pudge mid getting first blooded by their Riki mid 2 mins into the game trying to tower dive him for a greedy kill. Riki got out of control after getting that quick first blood. Loss.
- Getting grouped with 4 people Q'ing together as a party.. One of them (was on Rubick) tower dives several times dying.. I tell him to stop feeding.. The 4 of them spend the rest of the game raging at me and trash talking me because I told their buddy to quit being bad and feeding. This is one of the main reasons I hate being grouped with 4 people playing together.. Because they tend to get really defensive and angry the second one of them are given feedback or advice.

how do people handle solo queue?
I've been mostly playing with 2-3 friends for the last 2-3 months until tonight. Nobody online so I figure I'll go at it.
This is "very high" bracket whatever the fuck that means.
I random NightStalker.
I go mid, kill mid during daytime, have bottle, urn, phase boots ready first night. I go 6-0 in the first night phase. I'm feeling good, we're going to win, right? RIGHT?
Well our toplane panda/omniknight sits top the entire game watching our towers go down 1 after another. Our bottom rubick tries to roam and just feeds 0-10. Our Towers are gone, I'm now like 7-4 and our base is getting pushed. We're trying to defend mid rax, Skeleton King won't leave the jungle (even with our rax being attacked) we defend once. Yay. Second assault skeleton king only decides to come after 3 of us are dead. They end the game, I'm now 9-6 with our team only having 12 kills total.
How is this 'very high'? This is worst than the normal mmr matches I play on my smurf with my new to dota friends. I don't get this matchmaking and that game made it clear to never solo q because its a slot machine.

^^ I think the mm has gone really bad the last few days(after patch perhaps?). Before this, like last week I was getting very decent games. People picking decent heroes who fit in, supports buying courier, warding etc.
The last two days it's gone to complete trash. Again I just played a game where we had two towers down by 15 minutes and proceeded to lost the game from that point because dk got a boost by someone totally feeding him again. and you cant even quit or go afk, it feels like a total waste of time.

I just wish I had competent friends who played; have one close mate but he only plays vs bots ; ; gonna try and convince him to let me teach him later in the week
Solo Q can be a disaster, had two people on my team who were buddies and they were just giving disastrous advice along with a FV who didn't use his ult till the last second when it was too late every team fight, if he even came to engage.
Fortunately carried the team to a last second win (they were hitting our ancient, was ridiculously close) as Lycan

Get Naga, DS, AND Tidehunter in an RD, everything going fine, ulti combo about to come online, when tide inexplicably quits out - and it's not just a DC - he actually left the match and made it safe to leave. Gahhhhhhh

Ok so I don't normally QQ in games but lately a somewhat unsettling trend has been emerging. I like to play Pudge, I've been playing him lots recently and what I cant understand is the expectation that you have to have godly hooks. Many games, when I miss 1 out of 4 hooks the team rages/calls me a noob, sometimes battling through 250-300 ping. I am a decent Pudge, I get great hooks on average, missing 1 every now and then is FINE, because I know you couldn't do better. miss 1 hook and you get "fucking noob", even when hooking the same person to safety multiple times/forcestaffing them in for kills or away to safety. So please give your resident Pudge a break, its pretty hard.
Also TA is imba as fuck.

^ agree we need australian servers asap, any skillshots on 300 ping you have to do a different way you would on low ping, very counter-productive

I don't know why pubs just seem to have the impression that skillshots should have a 100% success rate. Miss a pudge hook or mirana arrow? Too bad your a fucking noob.

What is with every idiot picking a hero who is exclusively used for middle (in most cases) after I've already picked a hero that fills the same role. Then after they pick their terrible choice they "call" middle. I then have to proceed to be a "dick" and just sit in middle and force them to go to the side lane (this only works sometimes). This just happened in my last game and the guy had the nerve to say "Well I'll go bottom I guess for the good of the team."
REALLY FOR THE GOOD OF THE TEAM? JUST LIKE HOW YOU PICKED A MIDDLE HERO FOR THE GOOD OF THE TEAM WHEN I WAS ALREADY A MIDDLE HERO.

Dota2 has a HORRIBLE matchmaking system and it's one of the big reasons I rather play HoN.
I refuse to be paired with noobs.

I think the patch really messed up the MM.
I mean before it, I was having some good decent matches, good teammates, goo enemies, equal skill level
then the patch comes and BLAM, I suddenly get all these noobs, trolls, and feeders.
Holy Crap, I stopped playing dota 2 for a while until this whole thing goes under.

fuck this game, im done, why are people so shit? do they not watch any games? do they not know what teamwork is? lost like 6 games in a row because of absolute fucking retards who don't know how to play... And if Valve thinks I should be playing with them? Fuck Valve... At least with wc3 there were banlists, and aslong as you had a good/regular host u knew you would get decent games.

Got that soloqueue blues again, seriously. Fucking teammates constantly flaming everyone around them for anything and everything, while doing horribly stupid shit themselves.
Had about 10 garbage dota games in a row, but this last one tops it off. I random riki as first pick on my team, teammates pick tide enigma witch doctor invoker. I'm like cool we actually have really good laning options here. Well what happens is naturally Tide and Witch Doctor are Russian and decide they are going to safelane together. At this point I've written the game off so I'm like fuck it whatever and go solo hardlane against fucking Viper who gets sentries bought for him by his Enchantress. Finally I get some levels by hiding in the trees while they start to push our towers. I get told to "DEFEND NOOB".
I finally pop lvl6 and can move around the map a little and get some last hits. I've managed a magic stick and boots of speed to accompany my PMS, when our Invoker starts whining about our "carry" afk farming (how he still found the reasoning to consider me the carry is beyond me). Apparently since Riki is "not that kind of carry" I should've been out hunting for kills at lvl6 with no items when the whole enemy team is lvl 9-12. Our duo of magnificent Russians chime in with a mixture of languages about how I'm noob for going solo lane as Riki, as obviously it was my fault. Also, the word "GAMBURGER" came up at least 10 times and I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean.
And you know what the most fucked up part about all this is? The part that makes me fucking despair at the thought of hitting that queue button again? We fucking won the game.

I actually lold at that. Its happened to me too. Sometimes there are just games that your team is doing SO badly you've got absolutely no right to win it at all, but you do because the opposing team somehow manages to play even worse.

If you think wc3's "matchmaking" system is better than dota 2's, you're, at least mildly, crazy.
Half of you are complaining about your teammates, but it's clear that you aren't any good yourselves, so it stands to reason that your teammates aren't good...
To the rest, the trick is to cancel the queue when the search parameters widen too much. Just cancel the queue and start it again. It takes longer to find a game, duh, but you don't end up with Helen Keller on your team because no one else is queued up yet.

Oh the IRC/Garena days... Back then there were so many leavers that it became standard to play 4v5 or 4v4 games because people get sick of remaking 5-6 times. My Lancraft banlist was hundreds of names long, and grew by 1-2 names per game. Garena banlists didn't work so fuck that.
And the maphacks. The glorious dark age of maphacking, where literally everybody was maphacking. Even my friends were maphacking in private games (took me a while to realize why one of them "knew" all about my patterns of minelaying with techies). I guess it's inevitable that maphacks for Dota2 will appear, but I hope Valve bans them hard and fast. And sues the pants out of the maphack developers too.

MMR sigh. Got rolled by a team pretty badly but then the dota community does itself no favours when its quite clear they were better than us but still feel the need to go rosh, fountain camp a bit, smack talk about easy it was etc. Some people are just really unpleasant =/
