If you queue with a couple of friends, yolo random everyone and try to make the lineup work, it helps finding out strenghts and weaknesses of some heros.
Also if you random 5 supports and win vs a "normal" 3core lineup cause you gank the shit out of mid as roaming rubik and shaman, you're having a good time.
SoloQ is different. I would agree with "otherwise I wouldn't pick", like earth spirit or meepo, hell even carrys or mids I wouldnt play that often cause nobody does decent support at 3k 
And Im far too bad to profit enough from my opponents mistakes and win the game on my own most of the time .)

Both, I really like that extra 200g and i never know what to pick. I'm bad at counterpicking because i can't come up with heroes that exploit weakness of the pick (but if i have undying and my enemy pick sniper, i know i'm fucked cuz he counters my tombstone, kinda weird). There are just too many heroes for me to remember

Start off the game as I always do saying "Hi team. I will play whatever we need." 2 teammates just don't say shit and we still end up with horrible picks. I get forced to play mid instead of supp when we have no cour or wards. Try to gank for failing sidelanes, end up getting shit on by the roaming supports who camp runes when we have no vision. Being nice usually goes a long way in dota but it really kills me when teammates just don't give a shit at all about working together.

Well in my 1700 games of dota this is the first time I was the object of blame by a 4 stack. It was a beast brawl and as soon as I loaded in they asked me to play sniper. Even though sniper isnt even that good I obliged. Im sure these guys think side lane death prophet is the shit or something. When we were behind 20 kills or so their supports still didnt think that maybe warding is a good idea.
And while I did fuck up by going to lane with a salve, tangos and RoP as sniper (never play this hero), I did just as bad not worse than all of you. I even lost my prediction because they sounded like they knew what they were doing. I shouldnt have picked sniper and I shouldnt have predicted.
What has this taught me? If people are talkative they most likely suck.

First time with people who have so little knowledge regarding gameplay that you can even smell defeat at the hero selection (unranked).
I am with friend in party, we want to go radiant top as a carry-support duo. Friend chooses Slark. We mark our lane. Two people prepare Huskar and Zeus, so I assume either of them can mid (heck, might the Zeus even help support) and I choose Omniknight as first pick. Fifth guy stalls until the very last moment and he chooses Spectre. Not the best draft, but Spectre+Zeus on bot and Huskar mid is acceptable. Enemy carefully drafts Sniper, OD, Axe, Jugg and Lion.
So I and friend go to top, but Spectre is coming behind us, while Huskar and Zeus is going bot together. We ask either of them repeatedly to go to mid, but they are jack silent and not reacting anything. So our spectre decides to go mid (wtf???).
Here comes the laning, with an aggressive Axe+Jugg demolishing our top lane and zoning out from the tier 1, OD dominating mid against the Spectre and bot stalling with the bottleless Zeus. They deny the slark a lot of farm, but we manage to keep ourselves in one piece behind the t2. Finally we make use of the low HP and manage to turn around. But the sheer pushing power of these guys results us in losing all low-ground towers, so virtually there is no mid game. On top of that, the Zeus disconnects, but we have the guts to continue even being outnumbered.
And see wonders, the tides seem to turn after the Huskar feeds into a 1v5 manfight. We manage to deflect their push on our highground, killing their core heroes and picking off stragglers. The Huskar buys a BKB which he doesn't at all, repel and guardian angel helps stall the teamfight enough so the Spectre's Radiance and Huskar could do some work. I even get a dagon 5 to get some burst damage. Two or three such fights come again, which we win, but guys get too foolhardy and get picked off two by two so the enemy can get further towers and rax, and eventually the throne.
During the match, I save their life with ulti, help them come back, give them compliments when scoring a kill, no answer, just titling my friend a feeder. Trash players, sadly, do exist.

Play the year beast bullshit mode. Retard on the team randoms, gets morphling. And that's the end of the story.

2.3k MMR. So I haven't been playing long and I'm not an expert.
But is it just me or are people fucking retarded?
Why do people keep hitting Abaddon when his ult is going? Why do people focus fire Bristleback in a team fight with much slower heroes like Axe? Why do people just STAND under CM's ult? Or use their stuns on a tank instead of a Witch Doctor as he's channeling Death Ward?
Why do people pick teams with 4 mid heroes then argue over who called mid first?
It's like people actually have no brain.

Every game the other team picks at least 2-3 FOTM heroes like axe/jugg/storm/troll and my team picks techies and some other trash shit like slardar solo off. Every fucking game

Playing as CM vs Silencer, Radiance Spectre and fat Slark so much fun times.
If this keeps up I'l sell my arcana swifter than the wolves of icewrack.

Then my buddy fucking Timbersaw TAKES THE FUCKING AEGIS WHAT THE FUCK. He even said "Yeah you can have it." 2 minutes earlier. When I was like WTF WHY YOU TAKE AEGIS He is like "I changed my mind." Minute later he dies twice and I get caught by tehir team and die and they Rax us. He says "Not a big deal, aegis wont change the outcome of a game." YES IT FUCKING WILL 50 MINUTES IN WHEN IM THE ONLY CARRY AND AM AT LVL 25 FUUUUUUUUUUUU

40 mins in our practically freefarm spectre is still saving up to buy a radiance.
i told him its a bit late to buy a radiance and someone said "maybe if ur a pro"
i went hard support with midas and had same gpm as him AFTER BUYING BACK AND SELLING SOME OF MY ITEMS
half way thru the game me and him are 2v1 vs the opponent troll who is on max 400 hp and our spec is on FULL HP AND STARTS RUNNING WHILE I'M RIGHTCLICKING (literally the other 4 players type wtf in chat at this point)
our lion had 17 last hits in a 50 min game
i had 3k higher hero damage as a 5th pos than our freefarm spectre carry
our spectre done 236 tower damage (our ember done 10 tower damage and that isnt even possible)
endgame 3 of us are rightclicking down the troll and our ember, standing literally next to him, doesnt attack because presumeably he's waiting for his w and forget he can just rightclick. i die just as the ember starts to attack (4 second delay) and the troll dies right afterwards

i only play ranked coz better players but clearly not during this time frame

Playing Bristleback, top with my friend on QoP because Morphling refused to go anywhere but mid. We're doing all right against a Void+Abbadon combo.
We're at about level 9 when a level 14 Drow with MoM and Yasha suddenly ganks our lane and kills us both. I check Morphling's items -- power treads and the beginnings of a Wraith Band.
Now usually I don't mind people being bad -- I'm not the best player myself. But after that fight, Morphling goes "Bristleback get Blademail, stupid wtf"
He ended the game with a ghost scepter, a wraith band, and a dagon 1.

I hate shadowfield. No matter how hard you crush him, if you take the pressure off for even a minute he just farms the whole jungle and is back ahead of you.
Like, I always hated him, but it was alright when he was unpopular. Now he's in every game.

First game I lose b/c our safelane carry disconnects. 2nd game I lose b/c our mid rage quits. And now after some bullshit players who can't see that I pinged a certain lane during the pick phase, I'm down 200 mmr in a single night. Good shit.
