http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/tech-support/447990-solid-data-on-sc2-microstutter Is called microstutter. It's harder to see on youtube than actually playing the game on a 60hz+ monitor, but still visible Since you're explicitly noticing this (a lot of people seem not to, but it's hard to explain to people), i'm curious for your system specs, but pretty sure that is happens to everyone welcome to TL.net

Processor: Intel Core i7-3770K CPU 3.50 Hz 3.90 Hz RAM: 8 GB Hard Drive: SSD Power Supply: Rosewill Capstone 450w 80 Gold From the people I have spoken to they see to think my problem is the graphics card and power supply that I have and I should upgrade them.

no idea why you would want or need to upgrade PSU, given that it's better than probably >90% of psu's used in systems playing sc2 and your power consumption will be like 50% load on it i had the same issues across three graphics cards, two cpu's and two different PSU's (i7 950, gtx580, gtx260, i7 4770k, gtx770, some weak 80+ rated ~400w unit, tx650) and i'm pretty sure when i get my golden green hx550 tommorow, it'll still be the same. Seen fraps data from a bunch of systems too (4-5) and identical on all of them, so can be quite sure it's just bad coding. As far as i can tell, it happens to a lot of people if not everyone - but most people don't seem to see the big loss of motion quality and ease of interaction with the game without some kind of side-by-side comparison

But i had this a lot more on my previous machine wich was Graphic Gard : Radeon 6970 Proc : i7-920 RAM : 10Gb (Kingston) SC2 was on Normal HDD (system too) Same PSU. Mini spikes happened even when i got 120fps.

In offline mode, the workers move smoothly. In online mode, i have the same microstuttering as shown in the youtube video. No packet loss (checked with CTRL + ALT + F) The 60 fps twitch streams are now popular, and its pretty obvious that a majority of streamers doesn't have the issue described in this post. That is a pretty annoying problem.

Actually i'm not sure of some stuff. I'll have to redownload sc2 at some point and check a few things

97 megabits download and 27 megabits upload speed is my speedtest results. i have a question though, is that even fast? like thats 12 megabytes download and 3 megabytes upload. im curious. we pay for a boost but have it measured in bits per second feels like a ploy to make you think you blazing fast internet but meanwhile youre really just paying for mediocrity?

sc2 uses a tiny tiny fraction of that much data

Also, while the packetloss issue for me extends into other games, and larger lag spikes are common the microstutter is not. I think it's possible SC2 sends/receives packets with more rapidity than other games, which produces a magnified problem when consistent lag becomes concerned. This is an incredibly frustrating problem and has basically killed my drive to ladder because it can hurt you so many ways in-game. From issuing commands that never get sent, or building/upgrading something only to come back and discover hey that didn't get built at all and now our tech's behind, or trying to commit more actions in less time, it twists every aspect of the game and makes it virtually impossible to advance beyond a certain point because its a variable outside of your control. If there is a fix for this beyond changing ISP's, I would be grateful to whoever could figure that out, because it's ruining the game for me. EDIT: Misread Cyro's post earlier, really? Everyone experiences this issue? wat... if what you say is true (I don't doubt it, engine was the only other thing I could think of but due to how much I really hate my lag internet I had to tackle packetloss first), how in the hell can we get something as massive an issue as this fixed?
