This is the kind of compromise you will have to accept if you want to stick to a *VA panel for your black crush desires haha. IMO, gamma shift is like a classier form of reduced viewing angles
I've owned a 2405 for 8 years (PVA panel) and I simply tolerated it because it was such a great deal back in 2005. In 2013 though, you can and should be far more discerning because of the choices available today.
