I've looked in the sound manager and realtek audio controls and the only recording device is the "Microphone" device which seems like its controlling both internal microphone and the 3.5mm jack. There doesn't appear to be any options for disabling microphone detection anywhere. Anybody have some idea on what I can do besides getting new earbuds without a microphone built into it?

I have four mic's there, webcam, usb headset and both 3.5mm inputs, with three disabled, it would be silly to not have seperate options somewhere

It's normal for laptop mic inputs to override the laptop's inbuilt mic. Only thing I could suggest is looking through the Realtek audio manager in more depth because it might allow you to choose more options for the jack input. Otherwise you might just have to buy a new set of earphones that doesn't also have a mic :/
