PROBLEM: When I try to stream off of Justin.tv, none of the resolutions "fit". They all seem to put a large black border around my screen which is then centered.
USEFUL DATA: Software -> Xsplit Boradcaster Premium newest version. CPU -> AMD PHENOM II X6 3.30 RAM -> 8 GB Operating System -> Windows 7 (64-bit) Speed -> Ping: 16ms Downlaod: 24.9 Mbps Upload: 4.3 Mbps Xsplit Video Settings: Everything is at default except i moved FPS to 30 from 25
Resolution Xsplit -> 1280 x 720 (16 : 9) HDTV I tried to match the desktop resolution of 1280 x 1024 and it doesn't change anything My desktop resolution = 1280 x 1024 http://www.twitch.tv/lazyprobes/b/351793254
Details: So every time I start trying to stream I test all the options under resolution and they don't seem to "fit" in the justin.tv screen. I can adjust them in the Xsplit window by un-checking aspect ratio, but then the overall quality of the video is terrible, because the lettering is too small. I am not sure if this is fixable or if I just missed something in the popular xsplit setup thread, but I would appreciate some help
P.S. If i need to supply more information just comment and ill add it ASAP

If you're capturing a 1280x1024 window 5:4 and try to squeeze it into a 1280x720 16: 9 window you're either going to have the black bars or it's going to look really stretched. (10:8 vs 16: 9 if you will) It's kind of common sense. Fitting an almost square into a rectangle..
The simple play is to change your ingame resolution to 1280x720. I don't know how well your monitor will show that though.

Hi, While you can change you Game resolution, you can also simple match the stream resolution to fit. I believe BabyKnight streams in your resolution too (as well as a bunch of Koreans).
As your monitor is 5:4 in aspect ratio format, you should stream in that aspect ratio too. We don't show 5:4 formats in the XSplit resolution list by default because they are not that often used, but you can add it manually. You only need to do this one time of course. Go to View, Resolution and click 'Edit Resolutions...'. There click 'Add' and enter either of the following for these typical resolutions: 360p: 450x360 480p: 600x480 540p: 675x540 720p: 900x720 1024p: 1280x1024 The 'magic' conversion for the width is 5/4=1.25 (ie. 360x1.25=450).

Sure but won't the window on Twitch still have the black bars then?.. I think it resizes when you pop out the stream, but on your channel page I don't think the embed changes ratio..

@Martijn, You're right - it will, because if you view a 5:4 stream on a 16 : 9 monitor at full screen the aspect ratios doesn't match. There's nothing to do about it (stretching is not a viable option imho) - it's the same thing when watching a DVD on a 4:3 TV or a 4:3 recording on a wide screen TV (though that's horizontal bars).
If you want the viewers to watch a perfect fullscreen image, then you will have to stream in their monitor aspect ratio. Which is impossible to accomplish since people have various formats in 16 : 9, 16:10, 4:3, 5:4 etc. Of course you can target the most common one. It's really a question of whether you want to game on your normal aspect ratio or cater the stream to the viewers. While most viewers probably prefer a true full screen experience, many don't really mind as long as the content is entertaining.

AFAIK the twitch embeds on TL and twitch channel pages are 16: 9 so it'll look right on there at least. 720p or 1080p, pick your poison. (So that's 1280x720 or 1920x1080)

Yup, as long as you view the stream in the embedded player, it's forced 16 : 9. But I think most view in full screen? I might be wrong there - personal preference of course
I do look forward to what Twitch does with their new beta layout (add /new to the url of a Twitch stream to see it).

I posted a poll in the SC2 General forum, and 79% of respondents view full screen on a desktop, TV, laptop, or mobile device. Not exactly scientific, but beats not having any data.
