For everyone having problems, I strongly recommend trying the 32 bit version. 64 bit might be unstable due to low availability and low amounts of testing for 64 bit directshow filters.

Yea, the installer automatically installs the 64bit version if you're using 64bit windows right now, and while it works for almost everyone just fine, some people have had some minor issues - going to make it an option in the installer instead.

YouthSC for example on the previous page fixed his problem when he switched to 32bit, even though he's on 64bit windows, so it's going to have to be optional.

The thing is it seems like it only supports only 16 downscale format as of now so improving it for 4:3 or 16:10 in the future would be better.

As a fellow 16:10 monitor user, I was wondering this too. If this can't be added, does anyone know how Twitch responds to being fed a 16:10 resolution?

The app supports and can downscale all output/monitor sizes. You shouldn't have any issues there.

It only allows me to have a resolution that matches my monitor, though. I can't seem to put my 16:10 screen size into a 16 stream (with black bars at sides). Am I just totally missing something somewhere? It's likely I am...

EDIT: I was totally missing something... you can just type in the resolution manually, it just defaults to multiples of your monitor's resolution. My bad!

Why would you force 16 : 10 to stream at 16 : 9? Just stream at your native resolution and let the pillarboxing / letterboxing happen on the viewers end, otherwise if someone watches your stream on a 16:10 monitor they have black bars on top, bottom, left and right, so it's impossible to watch full screen!

As a rule of thumb, if you see any black bars in your preview window you're doing something wrong.

Yea, in settings->video->base resolution is where you set the stream base resolution. You can set it to a custom value, or to the value of a specific monitor you're using. Then you use the same monitor in the software capture source.

Been testing it out. I'm able to stream at higher quality without the performance hit I had to take with xsplit. This is great software so far. If you want to take comparisons you can check my vods.

twitch.tv/paintball1
Watch a xOGaviNNN 1v1 masters part of a game then watch part of a game thats titled testing new software.
My settings with xsplit were a bit lower and I would average 30 fps or so. With this new program I stream with slightly higher quality than before averaging 60 fps. Its great

I use
amd 965 quad core black edition 3.4ghz
xfx hd radeon 6770 1gb
4gb ddr2 g.skill ram
www.twitch.tv/paintball1 - top 25 masters protoss

As someone who is really limited with his bandwidth, could someone help me with calculations?
If I steam at 500/750/1000/1250/1500 Kbps, how much upload bandwidth do I use per hour? In MB Or at least the way to calculate it. Granted, I probably know how, but the units confuse me =_=
Although I have a decent cap for Canada, I still don't want to accidentally screw myself over. Thanks ^-^

You can calculate the megabytes per hour by doing [kilobitspersecond]/8bits*60seconds*60minutes/1024kilobytes, so your values would be approximately:

500kb/s=219MB/h
750kb/s=329MB/h
1000kb/s=439MB/h
1250kb/s=549MB/h
1500kb/s=659MB/h

...this is only if you're outputting that bitrate constantly. in low motion scenes, you will often send less, so it's very unlikely that you'll actually output that much in an hour. you should also factor in audio bitrate as well. You may want to turn down the "quality" value to prevent your bitrate from always being max if you'd like.

...I do also hope I didn't jack that math.

Google lets you calculate these easily, https://www.google.com/search?q=1500kbps * 1 hours

The majority of what I stream is from a 16: 9 webcam, occasionally switching to my screen to show web pages etc. So I stream at 1280x720, so the webcam is fullscreen. Then I stretch/fit the 16:10 screencap so it fits vertically and has black bars at sides. This then gives me a 16: 9 video that fills the default stream size on Twitch, YouTube pages, etc. If I was just streaming game footage, and using it solely on Twitch, then I'd just do as you said.

Either way, I've worked out how to do it now, and will say I'm totally impressed with the software. It does all I need, is free, and is definitely less resource intensive in general than Xsplit (and no waiting for ages to startup/login).

When streaming to own3d, do you mean lag as as frames being dropped, does the indicator go yellow/red? If so, that means that frames are indeed being dropped. If that is the case, it could be the own3d server you're connecting to.. I actually don't think I have a complete list of own3d servers in the app at the moment.

No fps drops or anything. It is green the whole time, and i have also lowered connection settings and all still lags. With xsplit this does not happen to me for some reason.

hm, very strange. and you're seeing this on the vods after streaming right? if you watch the stream while streaming, it could look a bit more laggy than it actually is, but I'll assume that this is on your output vods as well -- it's strange, if you're fully green then there shouldn't be any problems.

I could be doing something that own3d doesn't particularly like.. not sure. will try to get an own3d stream myself and investigate.

Looking to set this up in the morning. May I ask what kind of upload is required to stream in a good quality setting? I got only 1MB upload.

1mb wouldn't be considered great quality. I would say if you have a beast computer 720p might not look too bad with a slower preset. If you have mid range pc 480p @ like 700kbps will look decent.

I'm trying this out right now.

So far I'm liking it, however, my webcam is super super dark in it, when its fine with xsplit.

i have micrsoft lifecam 6000

Strange, I'm not modifying the webcam output or anything, so there shouldn't be any issues. Any possibility that you could try hitting the configure button when the device is selected? Usually, there are things like brightness settings and such you can modify in there. http://i.imgur.com/5kgo4.jpg for an example of what I mean
