Hi so I'm trying to use OBS now but I'm not really sure what settings would be optimal for me. I've tried tinkering around with my settings but I can't seem to get 60 FPS. I have 4MB upload and am streaming on a laptop with an i7-3610QM, 6 GB RAM, and GT 640M. I'm using an external monitor with a 1920x1080 resolution with the FPS set at 60.

My current settings are as follows:
Quality: 8
CPU Preset: Veryfast
Max bitrate: 1500
Buffer size: 1500

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I have an i7, 2.65ghz, gtx 285, 6 gigs ram.

I can't stand how sc2 runs in windowed mode. Runs absolutely flawless in regular fullscreen, even on ultra.

As soon as I go into windowed fullscreen though, the only way to get even close to tolerable, is to drop all settings to low... even then, there's still a several millisecond delay on everythinggggg I do.

I have no idea how you guys tolerate it. I guess my specs are just a tad too low.

First, I'd like to clarify the 60fps thing with software capture. The FPS option in the settings allows you to set the target FPS. When using software capture, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will get that FPS. There are indeed many people getting 60fps with software capture, but it usually depends on their system. In a version or two I will display capture FPS so you can see what you're actually getting - sorry about the delay on that feature.

Sovano - Laptops aren't always as smooth as desktops, but your laptop seems like a pretty good one. So I don't know whether it's your system or not. Also, if you're not using window capture, it's a little better than monitor capture in terms of FPS rates, so if you're not using it, try it out and see if that helps to improve framerates.

JohnJohnson - I don't know if this will help, but try turning off or disabling aero (if it's not already). Aero presents some GPU overhead and could cause problems for windowed games on some GPUs. Your specs aren't the latest, but they shouldn't be that bad.

Strange, I'm not modifying the webcam output or anything, so there shouldn't be any issues. Any possibility that you could try hitting the configure button when the device is selected? Usually, there are things like brightness settings and such you can modify in there. http://i.imgur.com/5kgo4.jpg for an example of what I mean

yeah I tried that. No matter what the image is super super dark.. Everything fine on xsplit tho I don't get it.

Program works really great for me minus that tho ><

I'll see what I can do on getting some additional options in for adjusting brightness and such in future updates for cases like these.

Do you happen to be using the 64bit version? (If on windows 64bit, the installer automatically installs 64bit). As r1ch said, certain devices may have issues on 64bit, so I would love to know if replacing your binaries with the 32bit version (which you can find on the website) would have any effect on your device output. The whole 64bit by default thing is my fault - going to make 64bit optional in later updates from now on.

I apologize for asking you to do this, but the testing would greatly help me (and potentially others) out if you could see if this helps.

Hi thanks for the reply. I tinkered around with the settings and lowered my monitor resolution from 1920x1080 to 1366x768 and I've noticed quite a difference. However I can say its probably floating around 30 FPS at decent quality. Perhaps my laptop is not powerful enough to achieve 60 FPS or I haven't found the right settings yet. Either way I'm looking forward to the upcoming versions! This is an absolutely amazing program.

SC_RainbowDash - I have an avermedia live gamer HD c985 myself, and it works fine. Could you be more specific about what you mean when you say you can't set resolution or FPS?

is there any way to Crop in edit scene, or more customisation for your scene. I find that with only being able to add bitmap files im really limited to having to add SWF files as software captures and i can't re-crop the GOM player, it looks really unprofessional. If there is a fix please say.

Other than that i love the ability to add screen regions and programs as separate scenes, i can alt tab out of sc2 without any other third party programs, but the auto scene one for this would be awesome!

SC_RainbowDash - hey, hm. I have the same exact capture card, and it works fine for me, so this is really weird. Does it list no resolutions?

Did you update your avermedia firmware at all recently? I've heard reports that some of the new firmware has been causing problems for some people, not entirely sure. I may have to update my firmware and check to see if I get the same thing, and fix it if possible.

Also, try using the 32bit version of my app if not already and see if that changes anything if possible

I'm just using the firmware that came with the card personally.. what about you? My drivers are the ones that came from the CD.. RECentral says version 1.0.1.43, not sure if thats the driver version or the RECentral version. edit - Probably RECentral actually, I looked in my device manager in control panel and the actual driver version appears to be 3.3.64.10

Bourne - what specifically are you trying to crop?

Bourne - if you're using window capture, use "inner window" to remove the border. Otherwise, you can use Sub-region to crop to a specific area.

Jim this is a fantastic piece of software!! So easy ad intuitive to use.

I'm currently running the 64 bit version and having some issues with hotkeys. I have set them up but when i press them the scene doesn't change. I just extracted the binary zip to a folder on my desktop. Do I need to run the installer for the hotkeys to work?

In addition, is there any intention to add a text source in the near future?

Overall I love it. Definitely switching from Xsplit.
