Are you saying you want a custom downscale? Custom downscales (that are properly filtered) are problematic. Downscaling well involves a fairly complex computation. I wish I could allow for any downscale, but it's just not that simple unfortunately. The downscale values may not be the best, but they are the best ones for preventing any performance hit.

There is a workaround, however. Instead of using downscale, set your base resolution to 1600x900 in video settings manually, then use Ctrl-F on the capture source (or right click and go to "Fit to screen"). That will downsize the source to your new custom resolution, though it won't be filtered and therefore won't look as good as the selectable downscales.

thanks for an answer. I will try.
I have one more thing. The indicator. I can't see the color of this while i am streaming. To do this I have to alt+tab to see OBS but then i am not streaming ingame actions and the indicator color can be diffrent. Am i right? Meybe you can add smth like fps info in dxtory which we can see from game point of view.

BTW obs app is brilliant!!!
PW. I have 3 Mb/s upload. I use 2300/2300. It's good ?

I can't do anything with dxtory as it's not my application - but maybe when I implement my own fullscreen alternative, I will make it do that.

If 2300/2300 gets you red/yellow (test with lots of screen movement/motion), keep turning them down and retrying until it stays green

Stream is black, according to the OBS website it's because I need to update my libraries.

Except both the directx 11 on my computer AND my gpu drivers are up to date...

What else should I look at to be updated?

This truly is an amazing piece of software. Streaming 1920x1200 with fps set to 60 and I can't even notice a performance hit while playing. This is my spec btw:

i7 2700K @ 4.6 GHz
Radeon HD7970
16GB RAM

Why did I pay for XSplit?!

Me love you long time!

But the question is, what did you manage to stream with XSplit ?
I am really loving the fast interface and usage of this software, also the settings are really nice.

Im gonna do some benchmarks with XSplit vs OBS at the same settings to see what kind of difference there is.

Edit: Benchmark

I7-960@4Ghz
8GB RAM
GTX580

1080P @ 60 FPS OBS = 85-95 fps range (Probe production, 3 buildings)
1080P @ 60 FPS XSplit+DXtory = 80-85 fps range (Probe production, 3 buildings)
1080P @ 60 FPS XSplit= 40-50 fps range (Probe production, 3 buildings)

XSplit seems to have a HUGE issue with AERO on Windows, its been like this since release. If you are streaming with DXtory or screen region you are better off with AERO disabled, but if using Game Source then its better with AERO enabled. Still, its only with DXtory as camera Xsplit is almost catching up to the OBS software, but still OBS is performing 10-15 fps more. Without DXtory Xsplit falls waaay behind with 50 fps less.

I am also really digging how fast the interface really is, Xsplit takes awhile to load and feels sluggish but OBS GUI is really responsive and fast. And all the encoding options and ways to control audio and everything feels awesome. They even have push to talk (Xsplit has too but you cant bind mouse buttons without a custom plugin)

Really impressed the hell outta me this software. If they add the possibility to add video files for use as overlays as with XSplit then why on earth use XSplit. But yeah, for 99% of streamers OBS is the clear winner here. Its lighting fast.

What i'm starting to think with obs is that the program, just like ffsplit, lowers the fps of the stream rather than lowering the fps of the game. So in your case avean, the viewers probably aren't seeing 60 fps. Which is why everybody is receiving these remarkable benchmarks.

Try using sc2 windowed fullscreen "mode". Hope that will help (as hots is basically wol but with some UI changes "read same game engine")

Tested this on 2 pcs:

1st one with i5 2500k oc'd to 4.5Ghz, 8gb ram, no gfx card (integrated). Aero disabled.

Quality at 10, veryfast setting, 1920x1080 scaled to 720p 1280x720, 3000kbs upload, 60fps.

Flawless run, no lag on stream nor game/pc. 150+ constant fps in game on low settings, for a 30 min game, dipped a lil below 100fps in big (full army) fights but no notice in fps on stream. Ran great with no problems. Very easy on the system.

2nd pc:

i5 2500k oc'd to 4.6ghz, 12gb ram, GTX580. Ultra settings, and Aero left enabled.

Quality at 10, veryfast setting, 1920x1080 1080p, 3000kbs upload, 60fps.

Same as above, flawless run. No lag on stream, nor game/pc. A little lower on the fps but I couldn't notice, and no fps loss on stream from what i could tell. Avg around 80-100 fps in game.

Great piece of work you've created, and open source? Serious props man. Also thanks to GTR for the thread. Think i might replace my current streaming program with this. Looking forward to the future of this program. I will keep an eye out for updates!

edit: 64bit system, and 64bit version of the program

I dont know how the hell you are managing 150fps without a GPU while capturing the game at 60fps

Is there a point to this post? That's exactly how it's supposed to be.

What you mean ? Thats not how its supposed to be. If you encode at 60fps then the stream should be at 60fps, not 50 fps to get better fps results. If i want better fps ingame i lower my encoding settings.

I highly doubt OBS software does this though and looking at my archive videos it seems to be showing 60fps.

RiSkyToss - The actual capturing FPS can now be seen in the latest daily builds I have posted on my site. The captured FPS is the FPS that you stream at. The FPS set in video settings is your maximum FPS, not necessarily your sustained FPS, but I do not artificially or intentionally lower the FPS of the stream or something, and I don't see why ffsplit would do that either. The rate you capture at is the rate you get, at least for my app.

I have no idea either, but the 1st pc has always ran sc2 good without a gpu on low settings. Might be the OC on it.

Also could never get such FPS with xsplit on the 1st pc, nor with FFsplit. Always lagged a bit in game, and on stream with either program running.

I want to report something, i don't know if it's intended or not but when you disable "Enable Preivew" it still uses your cpu to show it there. I have a small cpu so it effects me. So even if i disable the preview i have to scale it down to as small as possible to reduce it's effects on cpu. It would be nice that it won't waste my cpu anymore when i disable the preview...

Interesting. When I start Preview Stream, the CPU definitely spikes up. But when I hit Stop Preview, it falls back to idle as normal. Are you using the latest version?

edit: Oh, I think I see what you're doing. Are you just right clicking the preview window and unchecking "Enable View"? You have to actually press the Stop Preview button for the stream preview to actually be disabled.

So, I opened up OBS and it was working fine the last time I opened it. When I try to preview stream or start stream, I get a pop message saying, 'getdefaultmicid: could not get default audio capture device.' I tried switching audio to line out/mic/etc, neither work. I also tried re installing. Anyone come across this problem?
