Hi,
I am thinking of getting a laptop that is quite small / portable for work although I want to be able to play games on it. I was thinking of a laptop which is the equivalent to the W110ER, from PCspecialist.co.uk.
The setup that I chose is for it to come with i7-3610QM , 8GB Kingston Hyper-X Ram, Nvidia 650M 2gb and a 240GB SSD
Was wondering if this will be good enough to run League of Legends / Starcraft 2 at medium settings roughly, and if anyone owns this and if they like it or not, and if not some other suggestions would be great!
And also if anyone knows what router I should get with this because I want to be able to game with wireless internet connection. I was thinking about ASUS Black Diamond but I am not sure about it, and need some help with it.
Thanks, BbBoS

Don't order from PCspecialist, order from a real manufacturer. If you need evidence to back that up, check a few pages back on the Simple Questions and Answer thread for the guy who's laptop from PC Specialist has it's GPU running at 90C regularly.
Stick with HP, Dell, Samsung, or Asus.

If you want a good laptop for gaming, don't go with HP, Dell, or Samsung. Asus is OK, but I don't like their laptops' external design.
I have no clue whether or not the website you chose is good or not, but the specs of that are more than enough to play SC2 and LoL at medium; you could actually do high comfortably and with some tweaks even ultra (probably not at 1080p).
I would recommend buying from XoticPC. They have a good rep, good prices and great support. http://www.xoticpc.com/custom-gaming-laptops-notebooks-clevo-sager-notebooks-ct-95_51_162.html <- you can find the W110ER listed here as the Sager NP6110. With a 1366x768 screen you'll definitely be fine on high settings if not ultra minus some shadows.
EDIT: Also just saw your question about networking. I actually bought an ASUS Black Diamond for my dad's office (where I'm posting this from). It performs excellently; the only issue I have with it is that the configuration sucks and it takes 2-3 minutes just to save any changes. This is only a problem on initial setup unless you plan on tweaking your router's settings often.

I'll admit I haven't had the chance to get my hand on a Samsung Series 7, but they've been wow-ing reviewers and blasting other laptops out of the competition. Also, HP and Dells are some of the best value in terms of what hardware you get for the money, can be ordered completely custom, are solidly built, and both have decent customer support (though with Dell you will wait on the phone for 45-60 minutes, they will eventually be helpful).
The fact that you're actually reccomending a Sager over the world's two largest laptop manufacturers and a newcomer who's been getting rave reviews and bechmarks tells me that you have no idea what you're talking about. I've been gaming on a laptop for over 5 years and have worked with laptops from half a dozen different manufacturers; home and business models; in my line of work.
But I'm sure you own a Sager, which must make you an expert. Lol.

That would definetly play lol at max and sc2 at medium-high.

I actually don't own a Sager, but I know lots of people will recommend them. 11:30AM on a workday, unfortunately.
HP is going to burn right through whatever surface it's on when you game with it. I thought they were pretty notorious for heat issues, lol. I once owned a Dell, it was DOA. Replacement was DOA as well. Phone support was outsourced to India and I had to wait forever (~3years ago). After that bought a MBP, lol.
You talk about HP and Dells being ordered completely custom, when they have less customization options than a Sager. XoticPC reviews will tell you that they have great support as well.
I'm recommending a Sager over HP and Dell for gaming purposes. I wouldn't recommend a Sager for a typical consumer. Also keep in mind nobody else makes a gaming laptop at 11.6" besides Alienware, and they haven't updated their m11x as far as I know so the Sager is the best choice at that screen size (which I'm assuming OP chose for portability).
edit: Also on pricing: Sager 6110 with the same specs as a dv6t, only difference is that the Sager has a 256GB SSD over HP's 160GB, which is a huge bonus, costs $1194.00 ($1158 if paid by cash). HP costs $1174.99.
Dell's XPS 14 line won't even let you choose a GT 650M, and quad-core models start at $1499. I'm not sure why you're recommending these brands, lol.
Samsung Series 7 uses terrible graphics so that's not going to be good at all for gaming purposes. Can barely handle SC2 on medium.

Stick with HP, Dell, Samsung, or Asus. Disagree totally, the only place you can buy these high end custom laptops from are places like pcspecialist.co.uk, and you get much better spec/value for money than buying an Alienware/MSI, ASUS etc.. That CPU is the best choice to, so you should definitly go with it. That spec will have no problems playing SC2 at medium even on the 1920x1080 screen I presume it comes with

Every laptop has major heat issues, except for something like an Alienware that has a beefy enough cooling system.
I'll admit, I might be a bit biased. But hardware value only tells half the story, build qualty and performance mean a lot too, in addition to customer support.
Has anyone actually owned a Sager and an HP or Dell who can compare between the two? How easy is it to find and download drivers? Heat issues?
I'm also trying to find some benchmarks comparing the Sager to the Samsung Series 7 or the HPs, so far I haven't found anything.

I own a rather old Sager gaming laptop, but have never owned an HP or Dell. I'll take you through what I did to find drivers last year. When looking for drivers you just have to remember that Sager and Clevo make the exact same machines, but they use different model numbers. So here's something for you to think about. My Laptop says it's a Sager right on the top, but uses the model number D500E (which sager doesn't make). Therefor, you look up the Clevo D500E when searching for drivers, you'll also find out that it's also called a Sager NP5690! So then you can search either one when looking for drivers. My results? http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=D5x0E<ype=9&submit= GO is what I ended up coming up with. Can also use http://www2.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/download.cfm?ProductType=5690 after finding out that the D500E is the NP5690. So long as you keep all that in mind, it's really easy to get drivers, or at least it was for me (And I got this laptop second hand, and actually needed to find/update these after a fresh install of XP).

HP has dramatically increased the quality of their home laptops in recent years (probably in part due to this issue). My old Pavilion from 2007 was junk, literally fell apart. The latest one I got in January of last year, which is very similar to the current line of Pavilions, is very nicely built. Very solid with big large hinges, also very thin and light. Gets hot, but that's what happens when you have a quad core processor .3 inches from the bottom of the laptop.
Asus had similar issues for a while too a few years ago. A number of their laptops were plauged with BSODs which was traced back to bios issues. A few of their models had major over-heating issues too. Doesn't mean the whole brand is forever crap though...

I know it's pretty darn old. Only issues I had was a driver issue after reinstalling XP. They actually give you an xp install disc + a driver disc to use after xp is installed, but I didn't have the driver disc.. So my only internet access at the time being Wifi, I couldn't get online to download the drivers hahaha. Went to a buddies house with a usb stick and got what I needed just fine tho, and never had any issues since (if you even consider that troubling to begin with).
As far as temps go - when I first got the thing, I ran speedfan to check loaded temps, and it was in the high 70s, which bothered me a bit. Decided to take it apart and clean out all the fans and found a TON of dust. After snapping it all back together, it was in the high 50s low 60s loaded, which is perfectly acceptable. I think that the person my mother had gotten it from had bought it a few months after release. Highly likely purchased some time in early/mid '04, and the latest it would have been in early '05. Remember, I got this thing like a year ago for free haha. While it was a gaming laptop at the time, it doesn't really run the latest and greatest any longer. Sauerbraten and Red Eclipse run perfectly for me at native resolution, medium/high settings. I didn't bother with SC2, Broodwar was cake tho! :D
EDIT: And I'm sorry OP, but I don't have much to contribute, was just answering some questions that were raised in here. Good luck pickin out a laptop and router though!

Lol. Hmm, interesting. Thanks!

Anything that's 10/100 for wired connections and/or b/g/n for wifi would work just fine.

No problem! But I actually forgot to mention this (because I rarely actually move it), but the batteries are both long dead now. Not sure if that was implied or not considering the age, but yeah. I guess you can't expect them to last 8 years tho huh? hahaha. Figured I'd be as thorough as possible
