The problem is that during certain games, (sometimes SC2, sometimes others but pretty much any newer game such as Diablo 3, Tribes Ascend, EVE, League of Legends, along with many others) during gameplay the screen will go black for a few seconds and come back with the message "Display driver nvlddmkm has stopped responding and has recovered". I've tried so many things and I can't seem to find anything that works so I'm asking here. Can anyone help me out here? It's difficult to play much of anything on this "gaming" laptop now.

i've been having the same problem with my newer model, but with a fresh nvidia driver install i haven't been getting any more crashes. another thing I can recommend is to get yourself a cooling fan/pad, as mine only crashes after heavy heavy extended usage. best of luck!

F2 at startup was for my laptop. Getting the latest drivers.... you are getting them from nvidia webpage? Normally you should get the latest drivers from sager website (only get the ones from nvidia if the drivers from sager wont let you run games). In general tech savy users from laptops say that generic drivers (from nvidia) will most likely give you trouble unless you manually install the independent drivers (this is not recomended). Also, unless you use 3d vision, when you make a new install, choose custom install and take away all 3D related Drivers, and Audio Drivers, leave only the Basic Driver and the control panel. I also suggest running MemTest 86+ to see if its a Ram module issue (basicly a Driver is loaded to a corrupted Ram module). Cant think of anything else now, good luck!

I seriously don't want to have to just give up on this computer as it was very expensive and currently it isn't worth half what I paid for it... anyone have any other suggestions?

Yurick I will definitely check temps with something ASAP and report back on that. And wcLLg, I just did a fresh install of nvidia's drivers today and the problem seems to be gone at least temporarily, but I haven't really tested to be absolutely sure yet. It could just be back to the way it was before where it was just an occasional deal instead of very often. I'm not getting my hopes up just yet

In case you want to "not update" by windows, just select to "search automaticly, but let me decide what updates to install". Of course you will have to do this manually then. You said the problem became more persistent with drivers by Sager. In new games only or in all sort of games? Normally in this situation, assuming its not a heat issue, id reinstall the entire windows from 0. I did do that however once on my new laptop and it turned out my blue screens were created by a broken ram module. Did you have the chance to run memtest 86+?

Burn on a DVD, get into Bios of my laptop. Set boot priority dvd frst then hard drive, rebot with dvd inside laptop. But if you are afraid to touch stuff inside the bios, better get someone who knows how to do it. Good luck.
