Got my xl2411z, and I'm running it at 144hz in csgo with blur reduction on, and using the blur busters strobe utility, and the first bar is set to about 1.5ms, didn't touch the other.
Rest of the setup, is as I can remember:
- installed monitor driver
- AMA high
- blur reduction ON
- digital vibrance to 100% in nvidia
- a custom ICC
- put "-freq 144" in csgo launcher option

I'm not sure I'm running it optimal, I want as little blur as possible. Have I forgot something?
I have not bothered with:
- forums.blurbusters.com - VT tweaking
- custom resolution as described in this yt video xl2411z advanced settings guide

Should I push my settings further and try grasp the "not bothered with" part?

Take it from someone who's been using blur reduction for quite a long time with that monitor, stop using it.

Blur reduction isn't worth sacrificing your colours etc... Using an xl2730z and an xl2411z as my second monitor and I stepped away from blur reduction altogether, and I do play csgo and quake and whatnot, and it's simply not worth it, even top players step away from it and I've been playing various games competitively at a high standard myself for about a decade, so really, it's overhyped to say the least. Less strain on the eyes as well which isn't something you should ignore either.

Colour wise that's personal preference but I leave all the digital vibrance shit to default (used 100% in every game for many many years but stepped away from that also), I just make sure my colour settings are good.

-freq 144 isn't really necessary anymore iirc as csgo sets its refresh rate to the rate you've set your desktop at. I know I don't use it.

Is the BENQ XL2411Z (24") still a valid buy four years later?
I have a deal for about 300 bucks lined up and want to make sure there's not a cheaper equivalent/better monitor available.

I'm looking for a monitor that is between 22" and 24", with a good refresh rate that is affordable. Mainly for entertainment purposes.

It's about how the game looks+responds and how comfortable you are playing on it more than anything else. Some people cannot notice a difference with on vs off, others cannot comfortably play competitively without a CRT or strobe.

at 4 years old you're probably thinking of the xl2411t which was a slightly different monitor. The xl2411z is still a pretty good buy, it doesn't have all of the features of newest stuff (like adaptive refresh AKA gsync/freesync)

bucks as in $$? Pcpartpicker lists xl2411z at $269 and 272 euros.

Shortly buying a high end new system with a 1080 for good measure and looking at my monitor options. Would obviously like 4Kcapability (talk me out of it if it's not the be all and end all though) and from doing some research it sounds like Gsync is a feature I want to be getting, Size wise thinking 27/28" although never had bigger than 24 so hoping it's still suitable for RTS/MOBA gaming. Don't really want to go higher than £400 or do I need to spend more to do the PC justice?

After some quick checks i'm not even sure that any 4k 60hz gsync monitors exist at/below £400

Hmm. There's a lot of variables I'm trying to get my head around. Refresh rate is not something I particularly understand but I take it 60hz is the standard. I saw many references to 144hz too but obviously the important thing is image quality and lack of input lag. Figured 4K and gsync would cover that. Any idea of some good mid range monitors at that level?

1080p60hz is the standard for monitors but it's not particularly good. 144hz has:

* An input lag reduction of about 10ms, which is about a 1.5x reduction for input to pixels latency on an optimised setup

* more consistent input lag, since delay from screen refresh is highly random and makes up a much larger portion of the input lag on 60hz

* 2.4x smoother image

* 2.4x less motion blur from the sample and hold effect which is often by far the biggest cause of motion blur on modern displays

It's easiest to do high refresh rate, gsync and strobing on TN monitors so there are a lot more of them than IPS/VA/etc and those monitors are generally the cheaper ones. I don't know many monitors well these days for specifics

To start things off, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to computer related things. I built my own rig, but my knowledge ends there. I recently upgraded my monitor, but I'm having some trouble and have a few questions.

My old monitor shit out on me, so I decided to get the AOC G2460PQU. It is 144hz, but after setting it up and going into my display settings, it appears that my screen refresh rate is capped at 60hz. My GPU is the MSI Radeon R9 270x. Did I just make a huge mistake and get a 144hz monitor when my GPU does not support it? I currently have my monitor connected to my PC via DVI. Is that why?

I don't have an optical drive in my rig, so I wasn't able to use the disk I got with the monitor to install the drivers and I've been having some trouble downloading those online off of AOC's website if that would make a difference.

Halp.

Edit
Have been doing research all day on this. Eventually got all the drivers downloaded and installed. It appears that my R9 Radeon 270x does support 144hz and instead of the DVI cable I'm using to connect the monitor to my PC, only DisplayPort and HDMI 1.3 supports 144hz as far as I'm understanding, but I could be completely wrong. If that's the case, why didn't they include the necessary cables I'd need to take advantage of the 144hz, which is the entire point of this monitor? Argh.

You usually want displayport or dual-link DVI which can both do 1920x1080@144hz. HDMI couldn't even do 1080p@120hz in earlier revisions when some of these screens were released, so defaults were those two.

Not sure why it won't work for you, try both of the DVI outputs on the graphics card

Also make sure that you're plugging the monitor into the graphics card and not into your integrated graphics!

Can anyone recommend me a slim, lightweight monitor that's easy to carry around? This is for connecting my laptop. I move around a lot and my desk at home is tiny. Thanks.

With regular monitors I dont think any brand is particularly lighter than others. Just pick size that you think is suitable for your needs. 19" will be lighter than 23" which will be lighter than 28"

Apparently such thing like laptop monitor exists.

In the market for a good gaming Monitor. How reliable is this site?
http://www.144hzmonitors.com/gaming-monitors-buyers-guide-june-2016/

Yeah, the site uses url shorteners to obscure an Amazon referral link, which automatically knocks it down a peg in my eyes. But other than that, it's the top site I found on a google search for a monitor. It breaks down several options by categories, and I can search for features that are within my budget of around 300 or slightly more.

I prefer higher framerate over higher resolution, so the 1080p 144hz monitors seem to be the ones that fit within my budget. But I am considering Acer XB240H with G-Sync just to take advantage of my 980 Ti, even though it is quite pricey and a bit out of what I'm comfortable with. I can afford it, but might need a bit of convincing. But would anyone mind giving out some buyer tips on the 3 1080p 144hz monitors they have listed? They are:

Asus VG248QE, currently for $248 on Amazon.
BenQ XL2411Z, currently for $269 on Amazon.
AOC G2460PF, currently for $209 on Amazon.

And the G-Sync Acer XB240H that I'm slightly considering is currently $469.50 on Amazon.

Also, when I was building my computer and bought parts on Amazon, I got them with the 1 or 2 year proteciton plans, since they were only like 5-10 dollars. If I buy a monitor from Amazon, should I get it with the 2 protection as well if they're pretty cheap?

Thank you for any help you can give me.
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

Is anyone happy with their 16:10 monitor despite the reduced FOV in SC2? I'm deciding between the dell ultrasharps 2414 or 2415.

I'd go for a 2417h or 2515h to be quite honest and just stick with 16: 9 depending on what resolution you want to run. The 2414's are nice (I have 2), but color quality and bezels are improved over the 2414s. Not sure if the 2417's will overclock to 72Hz, but I have no reason to expect that they wouldn't.
