What's your budget and are you going to use it for gaming?

Personally if you're into it, a nice 1080p144 monitor is nice. There may be arguments for getting a nice 1440p panel though.. not sure? Depends on what you want. I would consider Korean monitors

Anything around 200-400 is probably acceptable for me. Although honestly I usually think about what I want / what are out there in conjunction with budget instead of setting a budget from the get-go: if there is something out there that is good, I will consider getting it.

I've been using a Thunderbolt monitor at work lately - it's 27 inch, 1440p, and simply a pleasure to use for work purposes. I don't use mac at home so I obviously don't want that kind of monitor in particular, but I am thinking of getting something similar (maybe not 27 inch, but at least bigger than 21).

Well if you want to do work I have one recommendation. Dell U2414H - bought one of them (second later) and never regretted it. Depending on where you work you could also get a discount off Dell MPP so 285+tax atm, which is about the middle of your budget. I'd wait til Black Friday or Christmas and it might save a bit more. Excellent colors and the thin bezel is really something. Adds almost an inch extra of room between the left and the right bezel per monitor compared to most other monitors.

These days for me personally, I'm drifting away from the twitch and reflex games and more to thinking games so 120Hz becomes less and less appealing, and after working with color calibrated monitors for CAD(and consequently redditing/TL etc.), I'd never go back to anything that didn't at least attempt a calibration.

The U2414H is 225USD on amazon right now, thinking if I should pick it up or not, doubt the price will go down significantly during Black Friday / Cyber Monday

My issue

My current monitor is an LG Flatron E2240; it's older than the actual computer I use and is beginning to die and I'm looking to upgrade; which is a shame because I've never had any issues before with this monitor outside of some minor screen tear.

So I'm rather lost when it comes to monitor upgrades - it's not really a peripheral I've taken the time to study in depth. I've read a little around new monitors and their tech but reviews of possible upgrades seem to conflict with each other and I can't seem to get any sort of 'average' about them,

If it helps; I'm running an Nvidia GTX 560 Ti graphics card, Win 7 and a 4.6ghz i5 processor.

I mainly use this PC for multi-purpose gaming; from CS:GO/TF2 to Dark Souls/Skyrim and Starcraft 2.

My budget

I'm looking to spend anywhere between £150 to £250 with a possible stretch to £275 if the monitor is a stand out model.

Edit - I should mention I'm looking at around 24 inches - though if there's a 25 or 27 inch within that budget I'd consider it.

What are reputable 144hz monitor brands? Guess I'm looking for a solid mid-pricerange ~24" 144hz one that I can use for playing csgo.

EDIT: how is this? (ASUS VG248QE)

Either ASUS or BenQ are good. ASUS is cheaper but maintains quality. I have the BenQ counterpart and I love the shit out of it. Up to you.

EDIT: Don't buy EIZO. DH is sponsored by them and the players hated them so much they got covered BenQs to use on stream instead.

vg248qe and xl2411z are two of the popular non-gsync ones (for low price 144hz). The benq one is often cheaper in europe; asus in the US. They're quite similar with minor differences - The xl2411z has a utility that allows you to control backlight strobing better but it used to have worse overdrive settings. That may have been improved in the last year or so

I think they're usually more around $250-270

Maybe a dumb question, but can you run multiple monitors above 60 hz from one card? I know you can use both displayport and DVI-D for 144 hz monitors but wasn't sure if you could use both at the same time, or if one would only run at 60 hz

Proposed setup that I want to use is one for a 144hz 24", one for a 105 hz 27" korean monitor, and use the HDMI port for my TV at 60 hz

You should be able to use both at the same time just fine, as long as you have the connectors as you said.

Follow up question, i'm currently mirroring the display on my 24" xl2411z and my TV (connected via HDMI). When I mirror the display, the brightness settings and other shit get completely screwed up on my monitor. I used a ICM profile that I found online and it looks great when it's running byitself but when I mirror the displays they get all messed up. Any idea how to change this?

Unfortunately (I have the same monitor) the xl2411z is a bit of a cunt when it comes to those profiles. Since you mentioned you're using a profile you found online I can safely assume you're using display pilot. Save the settings and also, go to the Presets tab, and save your profile as default/click on the button that says use this profile as default (mine's in a different language but it's pretty obvious which button I'm talking about when you're in the Presets tab. I saved mine under a different name and using that one as default, so far my colour settings have not been resetting nor changing, but, I do have to say I do not connect it to my tv nor am I using HDMI, I solely use it as a pc monitor for gaming purposes, not even using it for my ps4.

Slowly but surely starting to consider Eizo or iiyama for my next monitor, since their options and accessibility in terms of tweaking stuff seems to be way better, + the colours on the xl2411z (standard) are so inaccurate it's ridiculous, been able to tweak it to a good setting but in all honesty, if that's what a benQ monitor requires, basically doing their job yourself, then I'm sure there are better options out there.

That's not exactly what I did. I'll copy paste a other thread that I wrote up on this

Hi all, I previously built a computer about a year ago, posted about it in this link

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2jbqjb/build_complete_new_postwedding_present_to_myself/

I got a BenQ XL2411Z from my wife for christmas to replace my old 24" monitor, and it looks absolutely great. I installed a custom color profile as described here

https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/2o5ny1/anyone_got_a_good_setting_for_benq_xl2411z/

I've tested with testufo, the 144hz settings are working fine, everything is going great. However, I like to mirror the display of my main monitor onto my TV via an HDMI cable when I game so that my wife can watch as she does whatever, and when I duplicate the display, the color settings of my monitor get all screwed up and it becomes completely washed out. The color profile is still installed and looks active, so I don't know what the problem is. If I stop duplicating the display again, the colors go back to normal. I also did not have this problem in the past when I was using my old monitor. Any thoughts on how to avoid this issue or how to fix it (other than not duplicating the display)?

Thanks

So I finally want to upgrade to 144hz. Did some research and ended up with:

Asus VG248QE:

http://tinyurl.com/guo5scq (amazon link)

or

LG 24GM77-B

http://tinyurl.com/zg8brn6 (amazon link)

Which of those 2 is better or would anyone recommend a different one? Price shouldnt be higher than 350€.
If you think it's too hard there are solutions other than asking for a nerf, getting better is the first that comes to mind.

Does the 3D option adds to the price of the VG248 and XL2411Z?
If so, are there equivalents without it?

Sup guys, im posting this to get some opinions, i bought the benq xl2420t a few years ago (the old version, 2ms ect) it has no lightboost or anything, and the colors are atrocious tbh. Is it worth upgrading to something like the XL2411Z or would you advice me to wait for something better?
