Hey Everyone,

I'm thinking about upgrading my monitor and wanted your input. . .

I'm currently using the Newegg Link Acer G235HAbd 23" that I bought three years ago. I just saw the Newegg Link ASUS Vs248H-P 24" go on sale for $110 after $20 MIR. Is this a good deal? A good deal meaning am I going to tell the difference in quality between the two monitors? How would the Asus monitor affect the colors and textures in games like Shogun 2, Battlefield 3, ArmA 2, etc?

Also, I don't plan on going dual monitors.

Thanks!

To follow up on that question as I am also considering the same monitor (The ASUS VS248-H)
Is the ASUS VS239H-p at 169.99 (http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS239H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B008DWITHI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385622014&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+monitor+VS239H-P) that is recommended in the OP much better than this one (The differences is about 40-50 dollars with rebate) that much better?

Or is the dell ultrasharp 2312 a better value at 179.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2312HM-IPS-Monitor/dp/B005LN1JEC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1385622410&sr=8-1&keywords=dell+2312)- I mention this one specifically since it always seems to be touted, though it appears recent reviews seem to say the newer ones are less reliable and dell doesn't give their warranty if purchased through 3rd party sellers.

Also, is the drop off from hdmi to dvi (ultrasharp is dvi/vga only) noticeable at all? I currently am using a hd 6850 card that has the option to output both, but am currently using a hdmi cable.

I'm also only looking to do one monitor. I primarily play shooters and dota 2. Which would be the best bang for the buck?

Thank you for the help.

HDMI and DVI are identical in video quality.

Both the VS239H-P and U2312HM are IPS panels so yes these are better in terms of picture quality compared to TN panels.

The differences between the two are basically mentioned in the OP. If you want HDMI, get the ASUS. If you want a fully adjustable stand, get the Dell. You hear a lot about Ultrasharps because they go on sale often, they've been around for a long time, and Dell's post-sale support is generally excellent.

Dell's warranty isn't much different than anyone else's. Most manufacturers will only warrant products purchased directly from them or from authorized resellers.

Has anyone heard of the new Dell P series? I'm considering buying the Dell P2314H but I'm a bit hesitant because there hasn't been a press release or reviews from many sites on this new IPS line. I did read one review on tftcentral on the larger 24-in version. It seems like a great monitor that is going to replace the Dell U2312HM, which I previously planned to purchase until I found out about the P2314H. If anyone has purchased this monitor or know any further details on it, let me know! I'm about to pull the trigger on this...

Probably just a revision of the U2312HM.

In other news, U3214Q started selling in the states a few days ago for anyone that's rich and the U2412H too for anyone who wants a thin bezel IPS.

Never heard of the P series but I've owned the U2312HM for a year and have no regrets. Simply amazing all around, and with it being at $170 I'd suggest anyone looking to upgrade to get it.

P series before this refresh was significantly different. They used to be TN panels and with somewhat significantly different styling. About the only notable feature of the older models before xxx4 was the stand adjustments including height and rotate... and yeah, they looked terrible rotated.

Maybe it's just worth spending $216 on the P2414H model that's been reviewed.

Same with Canada. Those 3 are all on for those prices.

I have all 3 already. They're all great.

Hey guys, I just purchased an Asus VG248QE monitor: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236313

My laptop has mini-display port, HDMI, and VGA I/O ports. Which should I use and would I need to buy an adapter?

Heya guys, any pointers for a monitor in UK?

I'm looking at like £200-300 budget (not sure really) and have some basic knowledge, not sure what to ask for in terms of specs. High refresh rate and good motion performance 1080p, or 1440p preferably higher refresh rate too - something like one of the korean monitors that were 1440p and clocked to 100hz+ for cheap price would have been pretty good, but i heard recently that the newer ones don't OC very well.

I'm not too bothered about colors, its a bonus. Blacks are nice. Honestly not even really sure what i'm missing - using a probably quite-low quality 1920x1200 60hz tn from ~5 years ago without perfect calibration and probably too high brightness and such.

Anything i should look out for, any specific models? What's best to spend? Any 1440p's at decent price that have somewhat guaranteed high refresh rate?

I prefer pixel density to size and sit quite close, and also favor nvidia so lightboost is pretty big if possible

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=17

I'll ask around a little, but i'm not really up to date, aside from knowing a lot of the basics, so a little direction would be nice

2 ms response time quoted and 170 / 160 viewing angles are codewords for TN. Also, the price.

By the way, US deal on Dell P2414H (1080p AH-IPS, minimal overshoot, good contrast for IPS, no PWM backlight, all stand adjustments) for $200:
