Acer H226HQLbid is 21.5" 1080p glossy eIPS. It's a very good value, but the stand doesn't do anything but tilt, and there are no VESA mounting holes. If you want a glossy IPS monitor, it should be a decent choice, though Acer quality consistency is not that good. See this review:
http://www.extrahardware.com/acer-h226hql-faithful-colors-inexpensive-and-glossy-ips-without-pwm

Asus VS247H-P is a totally different beast, a 23.6" 1080p matte TN. It should be like most common monitors out there, except the motion performance should be relatively good (though still on 60 Hz and with those limitations). Stand doesn't do anything but tilt and it's flimsy, but there are VESA mounting holes. Maybe not worth it for such a monitor though.

So I want to get a new monitor with low response time (2ms) and 120-144mhz if possible.

My friend showed me this: ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor (http://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-24-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top)

The thing I worry about is judging from the reviews the color is shit and it seems to be in most reviews. I just want to know does that make watching shows/movies horrible because of it? Is it really that bad or is it just for designers that see it? Does anyone have this monitor that can comment?

If anyone has any other suggestions preferably no more then 300$ I would appreciate it! :D

Most TNs are typically worse than other panel technologies like IPS in picture quality. Chances are your current monitor is way worse than the ASUS and you don't mind watching shows/movies on it.

K that was more what I was worried about. I have a 24 inch but it was from 2008 or 9 and is an acer no idea what model but I assumed it can't be any worse. Guess I shall see hopefully arrives this week.

Hello, I am looking into buying a new monitor or maybe two. From work I am used to dual monitor setup and now want it at home too. I currently have this one: LG W2361V.
For esthetic reasons I might want 2 of the same monitor and also propably not 23" but more like 21,5" so they dont fill up my whole desk (?).
Can you give me a rough estimate on how much money I would need to spend on this?

Hi, i'm about to buy a new IPS monitor after using an archaic TN
one for many years (prehistoric Acer AL1715 for those interested) and was very interested in the LG Flatron 22EA53VQ PRAD
unfortunately online informations are quite scarce given it seems like a new model (?) and i only really found a single review (both prad and TFT central have none) uk.hardware.info review
so i'm looking for more advice from more knowleadgeable people ^^

still, i'd say that unless i'm missing something obvious this monitor is very good for its price range (110-120€)

then again, perhaps my monitor requirements are quite strange
+ Show Spoiler +

given that i'm only really interested in a neatly looking IPS monitor, that at 21,5" this monitor is almost too big for me (i have a small desk and as i just said, i've used a 17" inches at horrible resolution for the last 5 years of my life), my GPU isn't strong enough for 1920x1080 120hz gameplay (660 GT), i mostly play medium action RTS titles and the model has decent response time with Overdrive activated anyways if i were to play FPS (besides, i'm quite sure that it is still faster than my old monitor on which i never noticed any ghosting and stuff... but a monitor enthusiast would probably say that i'm used to play with torturous devices instead of proper monitors xD

Alright guys. So I recently got a new monitor for my birthday, Its the vg278 from assus. I'm not really happy with the resolution compared to a screen size and my computer can't really play games at more than 60-70 fps(fx8350 and a 7950.) And I prefer fancy colour stuff rather than fast/"gaming" features.
So I'm looking to send it back and get something else. The monitor cost 3490 kr=530 dollar, I can add a bit more but it prefer to keep it at the same price. I've been looking at the U2713HM H-IPS 27 for something higher resolution(I like big screens alright?)
The Eizo Foris FS2333 is also something I've been keeping my eyes on, as it seems to have a very good rating.
The store that I'm planning on buying stuff from is CDON.se. Keep in mind that shits expensive here.

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide between the Benq GW2450HM or the RL2455HM.

(Ignore these prices, not buying from there)
http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GW2450HM-24-Inch-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B007ZWI5VW
http://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Official-Monitor-RL2455HM-24-Inch/dp/B007HSKSMI/

I can get the GW2450HM for 20 bucks cheaper than the RL, but the RL2455HM appears to be slightly better on everything but input lag (though I can't trust the accuracy of the measurements I have found). The GW2450HM has a 6ms input lag according to TFT Central, which is GODLY. Unfortunately they have no review for the RL2455HM but displaylag.com gives it 10ms lag (which is still sub 1 frame, but I think TFT Central is more reputable in their measurements).

I play mostly fighting games right now, so input lag is a hugely important. I dabble in RTS and FPS from time to time. Color isn't really that important to me. I don't really pay that much attention to it, plus half the time I'm running Flux which probably makes it look like shit to anyone who cares about color accuracy.

One minor concern I have is that the stand on the RL2455HM juts out a bit, and looks kind of retarded. I don't know if that would get in the way of my keyboard or not (it is marketed as a "console" monitor so they probably didn't think much about keyboard real estate).

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Anyone that has any tips on how to calibrate a monitor that is "wrong" in the basics? I got two new monitors at work and with everything on default, they look vastly different from eachother while both being way of. One is very very blue, and if i turn the blue down it just tints over to green.... i can't get ridd of its blue shimmer and the brightness feels "capped" as 100 brightness is not even close to as bright as would look "normal". Other one has the same issue except it is a lot greener.

Both screens are a Samsung S24C450 and they are annoying the hell out of me. Whites look miles from white no matter what i try and greys don't look grey and black looks too light. And they are tinted way too far towards a specific color no matter what i do. Someone help plz it is killing me.

Hi Guys! I recently got my first gaming computer (i5 4670K, GPU 280x) but a very old monitor, so im looking for a 3 monitor Setup, anyone have any recommendation on this?

I found this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009V8F700/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

They say the monitor it Borderless (2mm) and i guess that important in this kind of configuration, but no Vesa Mount, so not sure if get this one.

If anyone could help my would be great, the budget is around 200 dollars for each monitor, and it should be 23-24 inch.

Turn them to the default settings and go from there. If its too blue, start adding a bit of red and see if it gets a bit warmer.

TFT monitors are known to having tinting issues. A lot of the time you can't actually fix them even with calibration. You can just make it less bad.

The AOC monitors are perfectly fine as they're AH-IPS as far as I can remember. I've seen them in person, they're perfectly fine IMHO. No VESA mounts but thin monitors never have them. Dell P2314H is also an option, though slightly more expensive. Thicker bezels but comes with high adjustable stands and VESA mounts.

Both have low input lag so who cares. RL2455HM will have better motion performance as its a 2ms TN monitor while the GW2450HM is a VA monitor. Its slower but it has much better contrast so it has better black depth/image quality. So pick your poison...

U2713HM has a bit of input lag. Its a very affordable option but be aware of it. You might not notice it but it is a nice screen.

If you're interested in the Eizo FS2333 (it is a good monitor), Fnatic sells it for 255 Euros so 2280 KR. Eizo has international warranty from what I can remember so you shouldn't have any problems regarding support.

Q271 has HDMI 1.4 if I remember correctly. If your GPU has HDMI 1.4, this means you can run 2560x1440 and all that via HDMI. There's also VESA mount differences. You just screw the Q271 in; you have to dismantle the Q270.

In preparation for Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Boxing Day sales I am looking for monitor advice. I am assembling a computer for a couple and I think they would prefer a 27" monitor over two smaller monitors. They aren't gamers so here is what are the specs I think they care about and what they don't:

Desired features:
- IPS/PLS or good CCFL
- Colour accuracy/reproduction
- somewhat Viewing Angles

Indifferent:
- Glossy vs Matte
- Input lag
- Response time
- Interface types

They have seen my U2312HMs and aren't bothered by the matte coating. The place where the computer will go has good light control so glossy should be fine too.

Any thoughts on what models to look for would be much appreciated!

Almost no monitors use CCFL rather than LED backlighting these days, and that's a separate issue as to the panel type (TN, IPS, PLS, MVA, PVA, etc.).

What price range? At the lower end, the models at 27" would all be 1080p. The more expensive stuff would be 2560x1440. For the higher resolution, make sure the computer has a dual-link DVI or DisplayPort output (or HDMI 1.4...), which is not all that common on say a laptop.

Most of the models fitting your description shouldn't be all that much different from each other aside from resolution, inputs, ergonomics. The more expensive models may have a bit more accurate out-of-box colors, but that's not too important for most people. And the expensive models would have all kinds of color correction or other features probably not needed.

Just look out for deals from the usual suspect brands (Dell, Asus, Samsung, HP, ViewSonic, BenQ, whatever) for 27" monitors with 178/178 listed viewing angle and those should be IPS / PLS / AHVA or similar. Or actually, some *VA panels are listed at that, but those might be reasonable options too.

I'm not exactly sure what price range would be appropriate. I think up to $600 would be feasible. I'm hoping there are some good deals in the upcoming sales so that high isn't necessary.

Colour reproduction is the main criterium. The couple likes to do photography as a hobby but they aren't so serious that it needs to be amazing. Anything average is fine but I figure if I have a choice I might as well get something "good". If it would make a big difference, I could buy a cheaper monitor along with a calibrator to fix any out-of-the-box issues.

Besides that, something between 25-29". The resolution doesn't really matter and I don't think they'll be watching movies on it. Since I have my choice of videocards and they aren't gaming, I figure the interface type isn't going to be hard to satisfy.

Well for $600, the Dell U2713HM should be attainable for around that or less. I suspect sRGB is good enough provided the display is factory calibrated well enough that photos appear how they should probably appear on the internet.
