Once you find that out i'd shoot an email to steelseries' support and request an replacement assuming you have not exceeded manufacturer's warranty under Canadian law. But giving the infrequency of the event it's hard to say if they will honor your request.

is there any way to take my mouse apart and see if there is anything there?
Yes mice are often held by screws underneath the feet of the mouse. once opened you'll find microswitches for where the buttons are, at best you can check if there is like hair or something logged into the buttons which may be causing the double taps, i wouldn't reccomend opening up the mouse. anyways though.
1. once you remove the feet of the mouse just re sticking them back on probably wont yield satisfactory results, will probably have to buy replacement feet from steelseries, or add an adhesive after cleaning them of the old adhesive.
2. once you remove the feet you void the warranty.
3. Unless you're like me and you have every kind of odd screwdriver companies use to prevent anyone but "qualified" people from opening their devices, you risk killing the warranty for nothing as you might not have an odd thing like a triangle or star etc shaped screwdriver to open it up.
4. there may not be anything like a hair or what have you visible stuck in the microswitch, and taking one apart atleast the ones mice tend to use can be hard to put back together. Might just end up ordering a replacement for like 1 dollar but pay 5 bucks for shipping.
In other words i would just try to see if there is anything like hair stuck near the buttons on the mouse, without opening the mouse. After that repeatedly click the mouse until you can say with certainty that one switch is faulty, then request a replacement from steelseries. Good case everything turns out simple and you get a replacement, okay case they make you pay shipping, worse case they wont accept your replacement request and you can open the mouse up anyways.
