So I've been using my rat 7 for a little bit over a year now, but recently it seems to like to double click randomly, sometimes even making triple clicks (lol). Anyway, I really like this mouse, but don't want to buy a replacement since they are quite expensive, I don't want to pay for something that won't last a good amount of time. I was just wondering if anybody had any fixes for this. I've already tried scanning for spyware and viruses, i changed computers and yes it is the mouse at fault.

As you can probably guess, I can't play sc2 since the last time I tried, i pulled all of my probes from the mineral line to scout...

Please help!

Thank you ^.^

I had this problem after a week of usage, returned the mouse and they fixed it, now it has been working flawlessly for over a year. How long does the warranty last?

hmmm I have no idea how long the warranty is..but I doubt that it's over 1 year and 1 year is probably limited warranty or something. :/ you guys think a computer store can fix these issues? I mean its not a pc lol

This is a result of the springs under the mouse buttons getting worn out.
I have had it happen to all mice I've used for a long period of time.

Strangely enough it seemed that after a few months of it occuring, the problem went away and my mouse now single clicks normally again.

huh, so do you think that i should just try to use it and get to that point? or should i open it up and adjust the spring or something. cuz it doesnt feel like the spring changed at all. And also the double clicking doesnt happen when i hold down the button instead of just pressing it and letting go.

To answer your previous question, I strongly doubt that computer stores can fix it - the microswitch is defective and it needs a new one. It's possible that using it would fix it, but not necessarily.

the microswitch is the thing in the mouse that registers your physical mouse click. it sounds like its reached its end of life and you'll need to send it in for warranty repair.

There is no rule for that, every mouse no matter what brand can work good for years or be dead after 1 month... it depends on a luck. Im using Deathadder 1800dpi for 4 years and I dont have any issues, my firend bought 3500dpi Deathadder and it was doubleclicking after a month. Another example. I bought almost 2k$ PC 3 months ago, I used very highly rated PSU from Enermax, it got only great reviews ect. 3 year warranty, after 3 months it went dead, now Im 1 month without my pc and cant play anything XD

i have a RAT 7, too, but my laser doesn't track consistently. i used to have just a cheapo generic mousepad but bought a razer kabuto pad (soft) and it worked well but now it wiggles all over the place when it's in motion. i guess it lasted me a year and a half, but i won't buy another :/
i'm just looking to buy a deathadder soon. i really like my brother's and i've never heard anything bad about them.

So, Update*

Just took apart the Rat 7 and tried to see if there was something wrong with the switches or something but then i partially broke the plastic covering that keeps a wiring from falling off, then i put it back in its socket as well as i could and put the mouse back together. Plugged it back into the usb and my PC doesnt recognize it. BUT the double clicking went away (for now anyway lol) So in the end it was the drivers somehow that was messing it up...even though i rolledback, reinstalled, updated....so ya I don't know what happened but i fixed it by breaking it xD

I came a-Google-in when my started. Found this. After reading that someone broke it and fixed it, I have your real solution. Can of air. Whipped mine out after I read this whole thing, and after running air through the buttons for a second or two, cleared right up. Hope this helps others.

This is an old post but there's no solution and it ranks high so here we go.

There are solutions to this involving reshaping the spring yourself which means taking the device apart and gently reforming the springs to the stock form. Or, alternatively, you can employ something like autohotkey and create a script that will filter out annoying double clicks at the software level.

This works for a lot of the RAT series mice and some other kits.
