Streaming software: xsplit
CPU/RAM: Core i5 2500k @ stock speed, 8 GB ram)
Windows version: Windows 7 Home 64 bit

xsplit own3d settings:

Desktop native resolution: 1680x1050
Xsplit resolution: 840x525
FPS: 25

Bandwidth test results for these settings:

Basically, my issue is how to get rid of black bars from my stream. Below are some specific examples of the issue.

Black bars (highlighted in green) appear on either side of the own3d stream for 840x525 (same aspect ratio as my monitor):

Black bars are not visible in xsplit preview for 840x525:

Black bars appear on either side of the own3d stream for 1280x720 (different aspect ratio from my monitor):

Since you in fact do stream in the same aspect ratio as your desktop resolution (in the first scenario), the only thing I can think of, is that either own3d messes up on their stream servers, or their player messes up client side

Edit: Give me a sec and I'll try it.

Have you tried the same settings with ie. Twitch.tv - just for reference?

Edit 2:
It's confirmed - there's black bars, but don't worry, they are only present in the player when viewed on the web page - once you go fullscreen they are removed (of course assuming you're viewing it on the same monitor or one with the same aspect ratio). It seems to be a own3d player issue?

Yes, I've tried the same settings with twitch and gotten the same result.

I also tried streaming in native resolution (1680x1050), and this issue was still occurring for both sites.

Right click.... Position... Keep Aspect Ratio
Its not hard to find out by yourself if you are really trying to find out how to fix it -.-

That has nothing to do with the problem. This will only stretch the image if the aspect ratio is off, which it isn't here.

Um, please look at the screenshots, that clearly isn't the issue. Keep Aspect Ratio just determines if the height/width ratio remains locked when you are resizing scene sources. It has nothing to do with my issue, which is black bars appearing on either side of the *stream* itself.

In any case that was already checked off.

But I get this issue with twitch too... :\

Also I wasn't getting it before I upgraded to Beta 6 today, so I have no idea what's going on.

Okay then. I need to study this further - if what you say is right XSplit is the culprit

Here's an example of the same issue occurring for 840x525 on twitch: [image loading]

You have to uncheck the box.......... DO NOT CHECK IT!!!

I ams sure it is the problem because it used to happen to me

The black bars should show up on the normal window because that has a fixed 16 : 9 size, as long as when you go fullscreen they go away its working fine.

This actually makes perfectly sense . The player is always the same size, no matter the stream resolution. I even think it's always been like this(?).

I'm sorry but you're not addressing the actual problem the OP has. Disabling 'keep aspect ratio' will stretch your image/scene out of its rightful proportions. Sometimes that doesn't matter, but if you "fixed" the entire stream by doing this, you're most likely only circumventing the real issue, which is that your desktop and stream are of different aspect ratios. The right and best way is to keep them the same for a proper 1:1 ratio. You don't want a circle to appear oval - see illustration here

That makes sense, but that doesn't explain why it still shows the bars when I stream in a 16 : 9 resolution (I've tried 1280x720 and the same issue occurs). It doesn't bother me personally, but one of my viewers mentioned that it was bothering him, which is why I've been trying to fix it.

I suppose its not a major deal as long as it looks good in fullscreen. At this point I'm just feeling stubborn since I could have sworn it's never happened to me before (maybe my memory is lying to me).

Actually it does, because your desktop was a 16 : 10 when you did that test (right?). As 16 : 9 is wider than 16 : 10 the bars appear in the player. Here it would be necessary to either change the desktop resolution (to 16 : 9) or uncheck the 'keep aspect ratio' (which will stretch the image out of proportion).

This is entirely normal. The players for Twitch / etc all expect 16:9, if your stream is 16:10 you get black bars. TL lets you change the aspect ratio of the player for your stream, but the streaming providers don't let you do it for their site.

Awesome, thanks R1CH. I completely missed that setting before on the TL player.

Also, thanks HellGreen for all your help, I really appreciate it!
