Ports to unblock Battle.net on work computer?

I'd like to bring my work computer home so I can design a map for the TL competition. I have a 4 y/o macbook at home, obviously that's slow going. =)

My work computer is basically a maxed out MBP 17" - I'm not using it while at work, just taking it home to do the map.

Any tips? We don't have an IT guy right now, so I'm on my own and don't really understand the port aspects of networking. Right now my machine won't communicate at all w/ bnet.

That info ia actually on blizzards website. I forget exactly where but I just goggled it.

Btw I don't understand exactly what you mean. Does the work MBP have some internal software blocking b.net cause if you brought it home and its doing that then its on your network/router?

Yeah this, unless you have some weird stuff installed for work it should work just fine at home.

Well, my home wifi network is messed up because I changed some settings on the router so I suspect it won't work at home b/c of that. But it doesn't work at work either. Would that be a firewall? Hmm I'll check blizzard's site out and do some testing tonight. Thanks.

provided your work didn't install anything specific to limit internet connections on the work mbp you can just completely reset your router to factory default (usually just sticking a pen point or something small into the reset hole for a few seconds) and everything should work as it should.

this will reset your router to the point that you have to put in a new name and password for your network and in most cases have to delete the old network off your computer completely before logging back in even if its the same name/pass as the old one. Not always but its easy enough to do that you should just doit. On windows you just go to manage wireless connections and right-click the network... Not sure about os x.

Allow port 6112 TCP out and allow established sessions in
Allow port 6112 TCP in (hosting custom games)
Allow port 6113-6119 TCP out and in (hosting custom games if you've changed the default port in the Options/Gameplay screen)
If you are still having problems after you open up the required ports, try opening 116(TCP) and 118(TCP). I don't really know if these ports are required or not.
I have had people tell me that opening up those two ports have helped them connect to battle.net.

The network admin might have restricted access to unknown ports on the local machine. If your home network allows for b.net on your Mac then it's more likely a problem with your firewall on the work PC.

If he did that you're going to need admin privileges on the PC to make an exception for 6112 in the advanced firewall settings.
