NOW Razer releases a MATTE Black Widow with Browns.. O M G i kind of hat myself now! someone wanna buy a 8weeks used Blackwidow german layout? ;p

They are very loud and bouncy and have a more crisp feel than brown MX's and are louder than blues. I have had 2 keyboards both with white alps both are simplified but one is a newer cheaper switch, the XM switch and another is from a 486. Newer one feels rougher and more wobbly and less crisp but I guess its hard to find a good alps board that was made recently because they arent as trendy as cherrys. No experience with blues though. I would check geekhack as they have alot of reviews on cheap and old mech keyboards. If you see a cheap price on one then you may as well try it. Its not a huge investment and it could be fun.

I want that extra bump, and it is becoming the new rave over at geekhack. the conversion looks fairly simple and I plan on adding doubtshot keys to it as well. Black keyboard with all white keys, and I wanna add a different colors of my Macro keys ex. attack, move, stop , control groups. been playing around at the WASD website to get a general idea what it will look like. Looks pretty slick. Only real nerds soup up their already kick ass keyboards lol.

Thank you my good man, I've been looking around on Geekhack and certainly getting my fill on the Alp switch, think I might go for it and if worst comes to worst I can just sell it to my mate

I quite like the small form factor, I've rebound F1, F2, F3 and F4 to 7 8 9 0 for easier access to more control groups. The POM key caps are definately a step above the terribad coated ABS Filco ones. Got doubleshots ordered from the round 4 group buy for my filco though, hopefully they arrive before hell freezes over. ![]()

Granted reds and blacks are linear, it is probably just less stiff due to its 45g actuation. : D Currently, I'm only able to compare between reds, browns and blues.

The only comparison you could make between the two is that they are both linear, and both are non clicky and non tactile. reds are much lighter and are preferred over blacks for typing, I prefer reds to mx blacks and white alps *fukkas* I had a red noppo choc pro w/ reds and for the first week I was constantly bottoming out because the switch was so light, but after trying a g6v2 I can tell you that there is a complete difference. If your fingers are Q_Qing from blacks and you cant get used to them, goto a red/blue switch.

This could end up being the go to keyboard for someone wanting to buy their first mech keyboard for playing SC2. There were four reasonable arguments against buying the BlackWidow Standard. The Stealth eliminates two of them.
From Razer BlackWidow Stealth FAQ The standard Razer BlackWidow keyboards are USB only keyboards that feature a gaming optimized key matrix for the keys around the regular WASD cluster for multiple key presses without key ghosting or jamming. The Razer BlackWidow Stealth Edition keyboards, on the other hand, have full 6-key rollover capabilities for multiple key presses of up to 6 keys on anywhere on the keyboard. People say Razer is a terrible company, but this seems to be a great move. I'll definitely be getting one for the 6KRO. @above, this is more affordable, more available, and not everyone wants their keyboard in rainbow colours or their names on the function keys. I can't find anyone that disagrees with a Matte Black finish. And this is a WASD keyboard, unless you mean buying from wasdkeyboards.com. I also found out there's a Mac layout version of the BlackWidow Standard, cool. http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.211324200/categoryId.35156900 Switch preferences are switch preferences, but there's no real reason to buy a Das keyboard now unless you really need NKRO, or an Otaku layout, or slightly better build quality. Razer covered the Browns, which was Das' only real advantage over the BlackWidow. I find the function key switch negligible in real usage, and very handy for the occassional press. That's because it's straight up from the standard rest position, rather than slightly to the left. It makes F11 and F12 harder to hit, rather than F1 and F2. It's also much easier to locate F1 once you're used to it because there's a giant space. If they moved the Macro keys slightly more to the left, then this would truly be the best keyboard for the price. I find the difference in quality between Filco and BlackWidow negligible, though some other mechanical keyboards have better stabilizers. Also, once you've used PBT caps, you're supposedly never turning back. I haven't, and don't feel like it since it's paying a very heft premium. Maybe Razer will cover this when they introduce Blacks or Reds?

I've got a second gen G15 at the moment which is starting to get on in its years and I'm considering a mechanical keyboard to replace it. I tried a razer blackwidow ultimate at my friend's place and loved the feel of the keys, however, I noticed immediately that the size of the keys/the board was different to my G15 and I wasnt able to type effectively at all. Can anyone point out mechanical keyboards that have key spacing/size the same as or very comparable to my G15? Also, I am a fan of the solid hand/wrist rest on my G15, are there any stores that stock similar?

But in terms of the wrist rest the only mechanical keyboards that I know of that have some form of wrist rest in the steelseries 7g but that has black switches which take a lot more force to press. If you are looking for a keyboard that types like a blackwidow look for a keyboard with cherry blues and see what you find. PM me if you have any questions.

They all use the same kinds of switches, which means they're only the same size. If you're moving from non-mechanical, you'll get used to it in a week easily. Rubber domes are more easily manipulated so you can have non-standard sizes. Having those sizes on mechanicals would make them very wobbly. You see this effect a bit with a lower quality mechanical keyboard's enter key. You can just buy a wristrest if you need one, which easily transfers over to other keyboards. Your only other option would be the SteelSeries 7G, which has a hard wrist rest only for it. The 7G has the linear Cherry MX Blacks, which aren't the best for typing though.

Come on Not sure what ur gripe is. :| Blacks and Reds are both considered "gaming" switch types because of their linear, double tap ability. Reds are considerably the lighter of the two. Reds have been considered obsolete but I guess ur one of the few that prefer them. And actually, many prefer typeing on Blacks as well. It's all a matter of preference.
