Dual Core Streaming?

Hey all, a simple question with a simple answer.

Most of the threads along the forums here say that quad core is recommended for streaming. My sad little outdated computer only has a dual core. My full specs can be seen here:

I followed Destiny's streaming guide to a T and got everything up and running, but when I try to stream SC2 I get absolutely abysmal screen tears and FPS drops. I tried messing with the resolution and quality settings in FME, but all to no avail. If need be, I'll post screencaps of all the settings, but first my main question: With my computer's specs, is it possible to stream SC2 at a watchable framerate?

I had been attempting to stream to J.tv

Oh, and my down/upload speed results can be seen here:

My connection is wired and I had a jitter of 3.

My internet itself seems to be far beyond the required 1 MB/S, so it's either me screwing up settings, or my computer simply can't handle it.

Absolutely not. This is an older stripped-down dual core (like a Core 2 Duo, but with less cache and slow clock speed). Even if you had a top dual core you'd still have problems getting something people would want to watch.

I am almost positive you cant stream without a decent quad core processor, sc2 uses 2 cores by itself. Seeing as how streaming is very cpu intensive id say you need to upgrade ur processor b4 u start thinking streaming.

Ouch. And I'm guessing you can't go and get a better processor just as you can a video card, correct? Heh. I'm not the most up to date on hardware.

Yeah I have an overclocked e8400, which was among the best of the best dual cores but my stream struggles for 40 frames 480p in a 200/200 battle.

You kinda can, but with that socket (LGA 775), I believe the only quad cores you can get are some of the earlier consumer quad cores ever, being the Core 2 Quads. They don't have any currently on Newegg, but I'm sure you can snoop around and find one (amazon has a lot).

The process of changing processors is much more difficult though, it isn't just a swap in, swap out, plug in power thing

A few of my buddies work in computer repair, so the actual process isn't what I'm worried about.

Any idea how much one of these quads you mentioned would run me? I happen to have roughly $120 left over at the moment, and I may just drop that to upgrade. If it's more than that, I'll just stick with what I have.

Edit: Seems they go for anywhere between $150 to $350. Ouch.

Yeah, unfortunately they are still pretty damn expensive

Much better to just invest in a new rig if you're looking at replacing the processor in a 775 socket.

You can get a q9550 for roughly $240 on ebay, etc. But you can upgrade to a 2500k or a 2400 for $200, not worth it unless your absolutly a die hard 775 fanboi like me (I get them usually next to none, and just overclock the shit out of them, Getting a qx9770 for $60 next week :D gonna get that thing to like 5ghz)

I will only think about upgrading my home pcs if bulldozer impress's me or when Ivy Bridge comes out.

$200 for the CPU, but you still need the mobo and RAM, which adds up to $400-500

$200 for the CPU, $50 for the mobo like h61 mobo, $30 4 gbs of ram, not 400-500
