Blizzard Support Asking for Account Closure?

NemesysTV United States1088 Posts August 26 2011 16:14 GMT #1 Its basically saying im going against the ToS by selling WoW accounts when i have never played World of Warcraft in my life nor do i have an account with this email. Should i trust this at all?

I bet it's a hyperlink whose actual target is not the typed one. Mouse over it and see where it actually leads, just don't click on it lol.

Any real blizzard email will never ask for your account details and will probably not use links if asking you to check your account. Please tell me you didn't follow the link and try to log in.......

That's how they get you. If you look at the actual link by hovering your mouse over it (DO NOT CLICK), you'll see in the bottom of your screen it'll say like battle.net-com.net or something stupid like that, most likely involving a lot of hyphens in my experience. It's very interesting and sad because I get them on my e-mail account that isn't even registered with Battle.net. And as others have said, there are zero circumstances where any legitimate company will ask for your account details in an e-mail. When your account is banned or suspended, the game will not open for you and you'll be asked in the game client to visit the Support section of their website. From their Support section you can yourself find how to make an Account Inquiry or something of the nature to appeal the decision. You will never receive an e-mail unless it's for promotions and you will never be linked to a page where you can enter your password.

Baarn United States2702 Posts August 26 2011 17:28 GMT #14 It's bullshit. Blizzard will lock your account if you have violated. Then you get an email saying what for and you gotta take steps to get your account back which involves a phone call. Don't fall for phish scams.

Go to http://www.ip-address.org/ and trace email, copy&paste the source to the blue box and it'll track where the email came from. Not sure how to block the specific sender and if anyone knows I would like know, thanks.

My curiosity almost got the better of me before I reread it and realized it made no sense at all when associated with what I know about Blizzard. Seriously should have been obvious I mean it was in the junk folder and everything.

Also no legitimate company will ever ask you for your password, and very few will ever have cause to ask you to email them details of the account. If you're ever unsure from anything (not just Blizzard) visit the companies website (without clicking any links in the email to do so - in this case battle.net) and ask them directly for confirmation, no real company is ever going to begrudge you being safe.
