What is a good CPU temperature while streaming. I have a core i5 2500k and its at 60C while Im streaming with SC2 open and Skype. Is that a good temperature? When I googled this all I could find was temperatures that it should be at while gaming which was 40-52C, and I'm within those limits with just sc2 open and the internet.

Yes, 60C is fine. Unless you start approaching 80C, I wouldn't be worrying.

Uhm... did you read any of this thread, like the title?

GT9800 isn't a CPU, and GPUs can generally take higher temps than CPU's.

It was more in reference of paying attention to heat warnings, not the specific value of 80

I'm very aware that the GT9800 is not a proccesor

You'd be amazed how many people post something like that thinking they're discussing the specific issue at hand. Like I think it was yesterday, when someone brought up a CPU bottlenecked benchmark to demonstrate that better GPU's beyond a certain point don't help in SC2.

Unfortunately, the thread was about CPU's, and they were responding to the benchmark I linked showing how much difference a CPU OC can and does make in SC2...

Not for that one. I got warned for saying something stupid was stupid in an overly colorful way.

I wouldn't call it a good temperature for an i5 with no overclocking, but it's completely fine. 40-52 is more normal but you need to take airflow, cpu cooler, thermal paste, room temperature, fan speed and so on in consideration. 60C is on the higher side and is probably a result from poor airflow and/or bad cpu cooler(like intels stock cooler).

Pretty sure it wasn't me, my ego is out of control, so I usually check posts like that to see if they end up getting moderated later. My only real saving grace is that my accuracy is high enough to make up for my ego mostly.

Oh wait, for saying trololol when someone said not to use integrated stuff and I said integrated LAN and Sound are usually perfectly fine for most people?

That's a totally different reason, trololol is banworthy no matter what or who you say it to I think.

40Cs is not a realistic load temperature for streaming. Streaming SC2 will fully tax all 4 cores, so I would believe stock clocks would have an average in the low to mid 50's. While 60C is a touch higher than expected, it's fine. Even more so if his ambient is closer to 26-28C's, which is a realistic summer time ambient temp.

Yup found the OP's post from another thread:

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=235259#7

Given that he idles in the SC2 lobby at 37-40C's, 62 is just fine.
With no power comes no responsibility?

Yikes!

In that case I would sell my computer for AC hahahaha.

OC that AC, add heatspreaders, add huge LED fans...plenty of fun to be had.

My i5 2500k(same cpu) stays around 40C when streaming sc2 with ultra settings in 720p. If I got 60C with no overclock I would be worried.

Well, if your temps started climbing significantly for no obvious reason, that would be cause for worry. However, if they're doing what they always do and the temps are that level, it isn't a reason to freak out. Conditions, circumstances, and individual chips matter quite a bit.

You live in Sweden, chances are your ambient temperature is extremely low. On a stock cooler with a decent amount of load, you are probably looking at the 50s or low 60s anywhere where weather can get pretty hot.

Hardware temperatures are close to useless without the given ambient temperature.

Well it's not like I have polar bears running around in my back yard. I got a phenom x4 running at 48-50C with only starcraft 2 up in the same room.
