Compared to your laptop CPU; Overheating wouldn't be a concern with cpu+gpu loaded Laptop CPU (sandy bridge QM) guaranteed for 2.2ghz, can be up to 2.8 if temperatures and tdp allows ^vs desktop Haswell CPU. 3.6ghz under load, and about 20% faster performance at the same clock speed* (that is, 1ghz on the haswell cpu is worth about 1.2ghz on your one) *varies depending on the type of load etc So the performance difference is quite large Woo page 400! And yea, for a serious upgrade from a desktop system you looking at locked i5 + midrange gpu at the kind of prices i said, the real power comes with CPU OC though. Since it's already a pretty high spec laptop (how much did you pay for it?) (6990m, quad core +ht) it's pretty hard to roll over it, but by £800-1k especially if you are willing to overclock, you're laughing

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204 it says operating Systems Supported Windows 2000 Windows NT XP compatible Vista compatible but does that mean only the minimun? or that i have to have those OS only? Cuz I only found like 2 or 3 optical drives that lists windows 7 as supported OS

I currently use 2 SSD's and 2 HDD's. Both SSD's always read fine. However, over the past couple weeks, my E: disappears from time to time until I restart then it shows back up. Today, my F: is gone (don't recall it disappearing before) and doesn't seem to want to show back up. Anybody have any insight on a way to figure out exactly what the problem is?

Tip to help yourself in the future: you can search for "Windows 7" in the reviews and you'll see a bunch of people saying it works fine with Windows 7.

You can run some kind of RAM benchmark if you're paranoid though. Check scores on the net and make sure you're not getting something akin to half.

You should be expecting numbers closer to 20 GB/s than 10 GB/s. edit: anyway, just saying that the clocks are half of the effective data rate, so they always report it that way. You're supposed to see 933 MHz there.

this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147107 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147170 which case is the best? (i also like that blue LED fan thing, but i also like the simplistic smooth texture of the corsair, so im just going to decide by whats good features like and durability) also, on the last 2 rosewill cases, it says "NOTICE: Please make sure your motherboard equipped with on-board USB 3.0 socket before purchasing" what is on board USB 3.0 socket and how do i know if my mobo has one?

Corsair recently started to make some LED fans, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835181046 etc Not sure what they mean with usb3.0 thing. Maybe that they just can't offer usb3.0 speed unless your motherboard to front panel thing supports it (i'd probably just use the usb3.0 and audio stuff etc on the back of the mobo/case anyway)

Pretty much every Z87, H87, and B85 motherboard has an internal USB3 header. For some earlier ones, where the chipset gave you less USB3 ports for free, it was common on the higher-end boards. Check the manual/features list. + Show Spoiler [images] + ![]() ![]()

For now, i think the corsair 200r is my top choice. I like the smooth layout that it looks like it has. Even with all the fractual design define R4 cases. but those are more expensive. so atm, corsair 200r at the top for now till i find a better deal for other cases (source 210 doesnt look bad too )
