They will very faintly record something. Hold them close to your mouth when speaking into them.
ya I did what you said and the mic showed activity on windows so i guess its my mic that randomly died.....anyways any recommendations for a 30-50$ headset / mic?

I'm trying to convert 3500 jpegs from progressive jpeg to baseline jpeg on a mac (can use a PC if needed), anyone know of an easy way to do this?

Is it worth waiting for the 800 series? Like, will the GTX 700 -> 800 be a big enough jump to warrant waiting another 4 or 5 months? I'm mainly interested in a mid-range card that I can use in Adobe CC and that's strong enough to run games... I figure anything above the 760/860 series will be able to provide what I need.... But that's why Im wondering if it's worth waiting for the 860 or 870 series

By "800 series" you mean maxwell or amd's equivelant
The 700 series, aside from the cards above the 770, are basically the same as 600 series.
With Maxwell in second half of next year, we're getting process shrink down to 20nm, so performance per watt and absolute performance will both go up a decent chunk
400 series was fermi on 40nm, 500 series was rebadge
600 series was kepler on 28nm, 700 series is rebadge with a new gpu added on the high end (gk110 in the 780, titan)
800 series will be maxwell on 20nm
Can't tell you what the performance difference will be, or performance/watt difference, or performance/dollar difference. Seems quite hard to guess, maybe someone else can make a more educated guess than i can. I think it's a bit longer than 5 months though. 20nm is the big kick everyone's been waiting for since the 7970 release in January 2012, though there's been a lot of price warring since then it's all been on the 28nm process

500 wasn't rebadge. There were process changes and new chip model numbers that were marginally different. 700 uses all the same chips as 600 except 780 being cut-down Titan.
Performance/dollar should be worse early on.
There are also rumors that Maxell might be more like 4 months from now and not on 20 nm. In that case, performance/watt shouldn't be all too much better.

Ok ty, wasn't aware of that but it was still fermi on 40nm AFAIK

My processor is i5-3570K. I'm waiting on getting a new graphics card so I can use it with the adobe programs that enable gpu hardware use. I was going to get an nvidia gtx 700 or wait for a gtx 800 card. I was wondering if the jump from 700 to 800 would be a big difference that made it worth the wait...and i guess if it will bottleneck with the processor I have as I dont plan on getting another mobo/processor

"bottlenecking" is a silly concept with modern hardware, every program is different and has different uses for and demands from hardware. Some stuff is CPU bound so better CPU helps, some stuff is GPU bound so better GPU helps, if you don't have a horribly mismatched piece of hardware then you will be held back by the CPU in some places and the GPU in others. This is evident in games like Starcraft 2, Skyrim or Battlefield 4 for example, which are largely cpu bound, while others like metro2033 or witcher 2/3 i'd imagine won't really care what CPU you have but will demand lots of GPU power

Cool. Thanks for the descriptive response!
I'll probably base my decision on what waiting and seeing if its worth getting depending on what ppl say whne it comes to working with Adobe CC stuff.

Just bought and built my pc, however i'm new to windows 7 and I'm not sure how to get off my motherboard's internal gpu and onto the 7970 I put in my rig. I looked through the Asus h81m guide and it doesn't tell me how to do it in the bios.
Can anyone lead me in the right direction?

Plug your monitor into the 7970 instead of the motherboard.

You need to plug the screen into the 7970 and not into the motherboard

Did you try both DVI ports? Did you plug in both the 6pin and 8pin PCIe connectors?

jk i figured the issue out. Ty. LMAO I didn't plug the power supply into it... =__=

So after fixing that, now my resolution is capped at 1152 x 864 when i should be on 1600 x 900 as that is my monitors natural resolution. The "Adjust resolution" on windows isn't allowing me to go above 1152 x 864.

You need to install GPU drivers

Alright, one last question ( I hope lol,) I have windows on my samsung SSD and I've also got another hd for everything else, such as games and things that will get used less. However when i go to my computer and look under hard disk drives only "local disk C:" shows up. When I look under device manager it shows that my other hdd and i've updated it to its latest drivers. How can i get it to show up under my computer?

Does it already have data on it? Is it formatted?
Go to Disk Management (it's in the Win-X menu) and check what's up there.

It's brand new so I would assume it doesn't. And I haven't done anything to it I just plopped it in when i was creating the pc earlier today. I haven't had to do anything in the past so i'm quite lost. LMAO
