I've read intels cpus become 5% faster with each new generation. That's not really an accurate way of putting it. It varies a lot per program, and "generation" can mean a lot of things. A Haswell CPU @4ghz is about as fast as Sandy Bridge @5ghz in x264 for example, they are one generation apart. Two gens apart if you count ivy bridge (die shrink) as a generation The difference is less in most applications sadly. But don't use guidelines like 5% more performance per clock per generation, because that's at best horribly inaccurate | ||

Usually the sales I've seen are $50 dollars or so, so depends if that potential discount is worth it for you, give it a way. I say get it now and save yourself the trouble. Many builds, like haswell i5 and a midrange gpu, will use like under 300 watts full load power, and it's extremely common to go way over the top on PSU wattage It would be bad to get like a random low quality or 80+/80+bronze 650w psu like a lot of people seem to go for at a higher price, vs a higher quality 430w unit | ||
