Sometimes I'd wish we had some sort of 'like' here on TL.
I'll propably go for the Samsung, but I'll wait and see if something new and exciting comes up during Computex

My Starcraft just began to experience an extremely low frame rate (on multiplayer and vs. AI). My computer has never had issues running any game and, suddenly, today Starcraft is impossible to play. Anyone else have this issue / found a solution? Thanks!

How low is the frame rate? Have you tried alt tabing or going to the desktop then back to SC2 to see if it helps (I sometimes have SC2 think it's not focused on and usages the max fps of when the window is non-focused, when I have it focused on). Besides that, try posting on the battle.net forums about this issue too.

I've had the same problem, started very recently. All other games, whether online or on my desktop have no problems. I get about 60 fps (no idea if that's good/bad/not a factor), even with a good signal I lag a lot. EDIT: For whatever reason the lag isn't as bad (but still pretty bad) when I'm in off-line mode.

Not sure how much you guys know about Android phones but have a random thing that my phones started doing that I wondered if you could help me with. Basically the other day when I was on TL whilst out and about - it all of a sudden went to the main desktop page as opposed to the mobile version. Since then its not gone back. I've tried the usual newbie things - clearing cache, downloads, restarts - but it always goes to the desktop site. Anybody got any ideas? If it helps its a HTC Sensation running Android version 4.0.3. Also, I found out that theres a TL Android App but that just doesnt seem to work at all - it either crashes on startup, doesnt let me login or if I try and view without logging in, just doesnt load any forum threads. Thanks in advance

If you turned off the mobile version of teamliquid's website by mistake somehow then you need to clear the cache and cookies in order to get it back. If you're still having problems, maybe try switching browsers to something like Chrome.

I noticed that whenever I open most windows, that they're always the same size and position as they were last time. Anyone know if for something like notepad, it's saved somewhere I can copy and backup? Not a big deal but I wouldn't mind keeping it the same place and same size in case I accidentally resize it or move it >.>.

I think i'm experiencing somethin similar. I got a new PC today, installed SC2 and played a bit and I started to notice, that i get random lags, but only when building something. After some googling I found out, that apparently the newest Nvidia drivers from this week are causing some trouble. So I installed the second oldest drivers and it definitely helped. Before my GPU was running at 90%+ usage while I was in the SC2 lobby, now it is down to around 60% even when i'm playing. But there are still some lags. I haven't played SC2 in a while and only started again a few days ago, so i'm not really sure whether or not i had these lags with my old PC too. Somebody else having trouble with this?

Before you go and search for other reasons about your lags, try to see if it's fixed by the "unit preloader" map. Go into the arcade section and run the map that's called "unit preloader". You only have to do it once every time you start SC2 and before you go and play actual games. It's a scenario that shows all units and buildings and effects to make sure SC2 loads everything from disk.

Type %APPDATA% in the location bar of the Windows Explorer and snoop around through the folders there, or try to find the program's place for saving stuff in the registry in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software section. Microsoft Notepad is in the registry. Thanks for the replies ![]() I found it: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Notepad And it lists: iWindowPosDX iWindowPosDY iWindowPosX iWindowPosY And I tried editing the value of DX (which seems to be size it seems) and it changed the size of the window. Neat ![]() Though sadly, I can't find the stuff for Windows Photo Viewer (I tried searching photo viewer, photoviewer, and the iWindowPosDX in case the values are similar too but I couldn't find it). I tried searching the appdata folder (local > microsoft) and other folders too to see if it's somewhere else (I'll probably try searching more later). Anyway, thanks for the replies. For notepad at least, now I know where it is all stored (and now it can always be at the same size and same position!).

Oh wait, you said "properly". For 4.0 GHz there's really not much to it though, but I guess you could optimize that. It's just a matter of trial and error, hopefully systematically testing different combinations of clock speed, core voltage, and other peripheral settings to see what works. You want clock speed of 4.0 GHz, so that means a multiplier of 40x with the standard 100 MHz base clock. You just need to see what voltage and settings allow that to run stably. Lower voltages are better, if they work, as that means less stress on the CPU, lower temps, and lower power draw. Test stability by running a CPU stress test and monitor temperatures to make sure they're not going too high, like above mid-80s C or so under heavy load. You could probably find a guide on Gigabyte's Z77 UEFI layout and what settings do in particular, etc. at one of the usual places. Try OCN or something.

In the BIOS/UEFI of Gigabyte, if you press Escape in that 3D view, you'll get into the alternative old style menus. You might want to use that old style. I'll copy a post I made a while back: + Show Spoiler + Programs you might want to install: CoreTemp, CPU-Z, IntelBurnTest (or LinX), HWMonitor If you have enough patience, best would be to wait a few days and see if everything runs perfect at default settings without any overclocking. Starting from default BIOS settings, set "Load Line Calibration" (LLC) to "High". Set the memory to use the XMP profile. Set CPU voltage to "Normal" (or something fixed and modest like 1.2 V). For the overclocking, go at it like this: 1) if the PC runs stable, increase multiplier 2) if the PC runs unstable, increase voltage (or offset) 3) if the CPU is too hot, decrease multiplier and stop "IntelBurnTest" or "LinX" are the stress test programs that produce the highest possible CPU temperature. Use one of those and check if CPU core temperatures are below 85 C (that's just my opinion). Normal programs will then run at 60 C or something. IBT and LinX are also a solid test of stability if you increase their memory use so that they run for several minutes for each pass of the test they do. You could also go at it backwards. Instead of slowly working your way up, you could just declare your cooler will probably do 1.3 V just fine, set that voltage (that takes some guessing if using offset voltage), then find the highest multiplier that will run IBT or LinX at 4 GB memory for 20 passes without crash or error. Don't touch 1.4 V, better stay below 1.35 V (that's just my opinion). This is a guide about overclocking on Ivy Bridge: http://sinhardware.com/index.php/overclockingoc-guides/116-ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide/126-ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide-with-ln2-guide-at-the-end That guide uses a Gigabyte board and has screenshots of the relevant BIOS settings. This guide comes with a ZIP file of a bunch of programs and explains how to use "prime95" and stuff, but isn't for your motherboard: http://www.overclock.net/t/1198504/complete-overclocking-guide-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-asrock-edition About stability, you should look for "WHEA" warnings in the Windows event viewer in the Administrative Events log. The CPU can apparently catch errors and fix those without the PC crashing. Windows will log that WHEA event when this happens. Increase voltage by a +0.005 V step each time you see those warnings. Those events should disappear after you increase voltage enough. I needed about +0.02 V total. You might want to look at a program named "SpeedFan" which can control fan speeds depending on temperatures. It's pretty annoying to use, but it seems to be the only Windows program that can do what it does. This is an explanation of "offset" voltage, probably not important: + Show Spoiler + I'm personally a fan of offset overclocking. In practice it looks like this: Starting with optimized defaults: 1) change Vcore voltage from "Auto" to "Normal" 2) the row named "DVID" will light up and be accessible; that's the offset and you increase this until it's stable That's pretty much it. Explanation is this: The CPU messages a "VID" value to the board. That's the voltage the CPU thinks it needs. What voltage the CPU will actually get from the board is called "Vcore". VID changes depending on how much power saving is used at that particular point in time. VID is determined by Intel after testing the CPU in the factory. It is set so that your particular CPU will run stable for all normal multipliers and power saving. If you want to look at VID in real time, there's a program named "CoreTemp" that shows it. The offset is needed because VID will be off when overclocking enough. The offset you've set will simply get added to VID and result in Vcore. I used the turbo multipliers to overclock as that's what I knew coming from my ASRock board. If you use the turbo multipliers, you also have to increase the Watts and Ampere limits on the same screen. Just use some ridiculous numbers like 1200 W and 300 A, the CPU will not eat more than it wants.
