Not sure if there's any more potential in haswell or it's just the chips are binned more consistently. It doesn't look like haswell will be a big increase at all, although a bigger difference than sandy to ivy. Source? Tried Textures? What about Shaders medium? You might need Models on high instead of low, which requires some working to force on low shaders, but you can enable them at medium. Run through them one at a time until you find the culprit. It will probably be Models

Crystaldiskinfo says health is good, but it does make a clicking noise when moving files off it, should I be worried or is it no problem?

Go thru all the SMART data and run HDTach to confirm that the performance is still consistent with a working drive. Just be prepared to be able to move things off in a hurry though.

Yeah this is years outside of warranty, do you have a good program to check SMART data with? Because I just put a HDD I know is completely rooted in and crystaldiskmark says that is good as well.

I just use CrystalDiskInfo to check the SMART data. Make sure RAW values are set on 10 [DEC]. (Function >> Advanced Feature >> Raw Values >> 10 [DEC]) Here is an example of what that screen should look like: + Show Spoiler + ![]()

I think there is some concern when those numbers don't match though (84M vs. 32M). Can another Seagate user chime in here? Assuming you are not seeing significant symptoms during read/write operations, maybe it is still early to be concerned. But my viewpoint, which has worked for over a decade, is to replace HDDs when there is a noticeable change in noise (quiet drive is suddenly loud) or performance (boot up takes longer, folder access is suddenly slow) or both. Up to you, but my policy is better safe than sorry. Also Blaec - you need to link directly to your image, otherwise we need to manually copy the imgur link :p + Show Spoiler [Blaec's Seagate] + ![]()

It could possibly be an issue with the current engineering samples and could be fixed on the retail samples but the Ivy Bridge issue still hasn’t been fixed so far so we doubt Intel would do it again." Fixed by delid? Just runs hotter period? Good info or not? "The Core i7-4770K processor was tested on an un-disclosed Z87 motherboard due to NDA issues, it is mentioned that overclocking through BIOS is very detailed and users can easily reach 4.8 GHz – 5 GHz on air cooling" Well no shit, you can do this with some ivy bridges. Dude i helped OC before, he has 5ghz @1.285 bios on a hr-02 macho and two case fans, probably suboptimal paste/mount, and his temps were dipping below the 70's in prime with absolute max about 80c, at 5ghz. Is this a "Belial can get 5ghz" or "5ghz is easy so Belial has 5.6"? We have no idea A few hundred mhz sounds so silly, but there's so much stuff we don't know, if it holds out to 5ghz, you have 8%ish increase in performance, but if it goes 5.4 on the high end, you're talking 17%. Is 5ghz typical on 1.3v, or on 1.5? If it's 1.5, then the power draw will be like 60++% higher, with heat scaling with it

I'd test it on another computer to be sure, but just RMA it. Coolermaster will do it no problem (they may even do an advanced RMA, just ask). CM has great support, although they are slow in my experience. On April 27 2013 16:32 Blaec wrote: ![]() I moved about 10 files of about 2g each off it, and it only clicked for one. Should I bin it and buy a new one or will it be able to soldier on? It's dying, not dead. You can keep using it, just make sure you keep nothing important on it and back up the stuff onto another drive. Just because it's technically out of warranty doesn't mean you shouldn't take 2 minutes to write an email to the manufacturer to try to get an RMA. You don't become one of the top tech component companies by sticking to the rules in regards to customer support and warranties. Most tech companies won't even ask where you bought it.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229378 1) Would this be sufficient to stream in high quality with basically zero lag? 2) Is it a reasonable price for the performance? How much cheaper could I theoretically get the same level or better by building myself?

You could also get something better for the same price. It's possible to build pretty much the very best PC for streaming SC2 for under $1000 (overclocking is needed for that). I don't know how it works in Canada, but where I'm from, there are several online retailers with a very good variety of computer parts where you add $100 and they assemble and run tests on the PC over night before shipping it to you. This way, you'll save a lot of money and will get a better PC than that one. Surely something like this has to exist in CA. You can also try your hand at assembling the PC yourself, it's really not hard nowadays. Go ask in the "computer build resource thread". The opening post explains how to ask (there's a bunch of questions to answer), and someone will give you a list of parts from the shop's website you want to buy from within a day or so.
