Hey guys,
I am currently building a new computer, so I was rummaging around in my basement looking for some mice and keyboards that I could salvage from computers long gone - Save a few bucks on peripherals, ya know?
Well anyways I came upon a keyboard that I can't figure out. I know very little about mechanical keyboards, but I think that this is one. It is a very old keyboard, perhaps from our first family computer oh so long ago. Anyways, this thing doesn't even have a ps/2 connector. I was wondering if any of the knowledgeable people here on TL can give me some info on this thing:

*I know the last one's a little blurry, I can take another if you need me to

That's a DIN connector. There are PS/2 to DIN adapters but they might be hard to find =\
Don't know anything about the keyboard model though. Sorry =p

If TL doesn't help you can always go to http://www.geekhack.org and see if they can provide any help. They're the gurus of keyboards.
|
There are adapters you can change it to ps2 or usb. You should just toss it and buy a new one though because the keys are going to be loud and they keys require a lot more pressing to activate a key than a modern keyboard.

looks like an IBM model M, but its not, probably by same supplier?
|
I'm currently using a similar one for broodwar and it is the best starcraft keyboard ever, in my opinion.

ITS THE GOD OF ALL KEYBOARDS, THE IBM MODEL M!!!

Pop a key out and see what switch it is. I'm betting its some type of rubber dome.
|
I took some pictures of the switches. From what I can tell of most mechanical keyboards, the male end is usually on the board, with the female end on the key itself, but this keyboard is the opposite (idk if thats normal for the model m or whatever).

This keyboard isn't the same exact model posted above, as I noticed that the actual model m has a little valley/groove kind of thing, whereas the one I have is pretty much flat all the way across. Dunno if this is important. This is really just for my curiosity, it's not like I really need this keyboard for anything.

the keys are double shot so thats a good sign, you can put it in a dishwasher and itll come out like new without messing up the lettering... as for the keyboard? no idea, best try geekhack
|
? It says what the keyboard is in the picture... a Microspeed Keyboard Deluxe KB 101
Google it maybe?

I don't think I've ever seen the male/female ends switched in a cap like that before. Interesting!
I'm going to have to echo everyone else and say that GeekHack is where you should go. (Actually, I just saw your post!)

Haha yeah, I just posted over there, hopefully someone from geekhack can shed some light on this

Those kind of look like white alps switches. Not sure if that is what they are exactly, but that keyboard looks very close to a Dell AT101 keyboard which has black alps in it.
