Well, where do I begin on this...

This is the second keyboard that I got from Razer (RMA'd the first one for the exact same issues). The right shift key doesen't work (and for you zerg that use shift + backspace and mouse click for larva inject, you will absolutely hate the fact it doesen't work), many keys sometimes double themselves, lets say I want to spawn only 2 of x unit, so I press it twice, it will sometimes register you pressing it twice, sometimes up to four times. This part isen't that bad, but it does get annoying.

Also the space key quite often either works and does it twice, or doesen't and delays. Can't find anything on google, razer tech support just wants to RMA it again. I have the newest razer driver, and have tried on multiple computers.

I wouldn't spend $119 on any non-mechanical keyboard, see if you can get a Blackwidow Ultimate from razer.

I have almost the exact same issues - although I don't use right-shift much so not sure about that - but my issues are with the m and o keys. Sometimes others too.

And whilst OBVIOUSLY I should have thought about it before I bought it - the fact that there are no stand-alone arrow-keys is actually quite freaking annoying.

Given that this is my second time being thoroughly unimpressed by some Razer tech - I'm probably going to get something from Steelseries and I will not go back.

Razer has had problems with membrane keyboards in the past as well, I think it has to do with their implementation of the "anti-ghosting" effect.

Early versions of the Razer Lycosa had a problem where keys would sometimes get stuck and repeat endlessly even if you didn't hold them down. Some keys also never registered and the touchpad controls were sluggish when they worked, though more often than not they didn't.
This was completely fixed in later production cycles of the Lycosa, but it became widespread enough that the Lycosa is known for having many issues (along with being the keyboard NaDa used for a while in WeMadeFox).

The Marauder may be suffering from similar defects in the manufacturing process. If you still have the production number of your old Marauder, you should include it in the RMA order. I doubt Razer manufactures the boards themselves, so this will help them identify the problem sooner rather than later. In the mean time, any new versions of the Marauder that you may receive might very well be also defective, so check them thoroughly right when you get them and send them back immediately if you find faults. You'll either get a working Marauder at some point, or help Razer resolve the issue and get one once they fix the problem.

If you decide to not bother with it, I can wholeheartedly recommend mechanical keyboards in general. If you ever get the same problem on a mech board, you can just swap out the single diode (keyswitch) of the defective key for a new one. They are very easy to fix, but expensive to make.

Gaming periferals are usually overpriced and a scam, but I've been impressed by the 6Gv2 and the Blackwidow for being actually more affordable than the standard Filco/Leopold/Das/Topre and being popular enough that you can just walk into a computer store and buy one right there instead of going through a mail-in order which I find very convienient. If you're willing to shop online, you can get better deals on boards from companies such as Rosewill or Adesso.

That being said, I've had to RMA one 6Gv2 for having a faulty key before. Just because you have a mechanical keyboard doesn't mean you can't get a faulty product. It's all about the luck of the draw.
Sometimes it's better to be good than it is to be lucky and sometimes it's better to be lucky than it is to be good.

Frozen really nailed it, but a good mechanical keyboard is a good way to go! Although the Marauder does look nice and light, good for BW Lans! Hehe.

If I didn't get my Logitech G110 for 50 dollars I'd definitely be looking at a Filco or something.

Best of luck with your warranty, I recently had my iPhone replaced with a DOA by Apple, so I know your pain, waiting for the third one

Let's toast to faulty technology huh!? :D

This. I wouldn't pay more than 80$ for any non-mechanical keyboard. Coincidentally, 80$ is roughly where the cheapest mechanical keyboards start (Steelseries 6GV2, Razer Blackwidow).

Its generally good to test input devices in stores (or a friends keyboard/mouse if he has) rather than ordering online - for some products and depending where you live that can be hard though.

Why on earth would you buy the garbage marauder keyboard?

Get the Razer Blackwidow... Seriously. Mechanical keyboards are way better and last for >10 years.

I got a blackwidow during the winter and you should really go with it instead of the SCII keyboard. Sure, the "look" is cool but a mechanical keyboard is so much better :D

I'll jump on the boat with the Blackwidow as well. Can't beat the value! Pretty much any mech keyboard will be far superior.

Using a mech keyboard is like typing for the first time again.

herpderp don't buy razer buy mechanical herp derp.

This thread was not about discussion on LOLBUYDIFFRENTKEYBOARD, it was to see if there was a possible solution known to the community who might have had or has the same issue.

Do either of you have feedback on the Blackwidow, pertaining to build quality? I was interested in it, but I went with a real German mechanical keyboard instead, due to its price being way less, and its build quality rivaling the Das and Filco.

I have this keyboard and I've enjoyed it quite a lot and have no real complaints.

I would return it, if possible. Those problems seem to be consistent throughout all of Razer's regular keyboards. It's probably a production related problem, in which there's nothing you can do about it other than return it, or suck it up and play with the issues. Ask them if they would be willing to trade for a lower cost keyboard or mouse that you like if you cannot refund.
There is no one like you in the universe.
