hi, I was wondering if this is a viable way to see if a laptop would be able to run SC2 and at what graphics.

My friend has a laptop and the graphics rating is at around 3.3 or 3.6 and he can run it. he has 4 GB of ram. He runs it at low graphics and it sometimes lags.

would a computer that has a 5 rating (for graphics) and 4 GB or ram be able to run it? or is this pretty irrelevant?

I was looking at random laptops and was wondering exactly what "Graphics Chipset NVIDIA GeForce GT 310M with 1G DDR3 Dedicated VRAM" means. Is dedicated RAM good? also whats VRAM?

Well it depends on the rest of the ratings. You only gave us the graphics rating. Most likely, yes.

the graphics was the lowest score. I didn't really look at the rest of the specs in detail though.

VRAM=VideoRAM Deticated VRAM means that the gpu has it's own memory instead of using shared memory with everything else. So yeah it's better.

You should be fine on low/medium with that GPU configuration.

That GPU doesn't look so good on the list. You would at least get around 30 fps with it, with everything on low. At that point it would depend on the rest of the specs of the computer.

You really should just ignore windows index rating. It's not really accurate and it just creates more problems if you just go off of it.

Just get the name of the GPU and research that (CPU also).

The windows experience index is not very good at rating computers. So no, it's not a very viable way to see if the game will run on a laptop, but it may give you a general idea of where one laptop may stand versus another. Also, the graphics card alone cannot determine whether the laptop will be able to run the game or not. CPU and the amount of available RAM are also big factors.

VRAM stands for Video RAM I believe, and as Jiiks stated, it means that the graphics card has its own memory and does not share with the computer (which is slower). VRAM allows the graphics card to store information such as textures. Typically, the more VRAM you have, the higher resolution textures can be stored resulting in crisper graphics. However, a high amount of VRAM does not necessarily mean that the graphics card is good. The quality of the graphics card is much more important than the VRAM. So even though the 310m has a lot of VRAM, the card itself is rather slow.
