XIGMATEK Gaia for $5 after. rebate. FIVE DOLLARS.
Seeing as how it's recommended so often here on the forums, I thought I'd give everyone a heads up for anyone making new builds.

However, there was this one Gigabyte SLi/Crossfire board that was really cheap... Was it Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3? How good is that in comparison to the cheap MSI multi-GPU boards? It doesn't support SLI. MSI P67A boards seem to use NEC as their USB3.0 controller instead of Etron. Gigabyte's power management, especially with C States, and delivery is the worst of all big boy manufacturers this generation (and probably the previous one too). Gigabyte still doesn't use uEFI in their non-LGA2011 boards, which still baffles me. So probably not very good. Gigabyte's recent boards are all garbage compared to the competition and I can't imagine MSI doing any worse. Outside setting Thubans on fire, MSI have had a pretty good reputation for their low/mid range offerings. The only good thing about Gigabyte boards these days is that they're pretty consistent with the chipsets they use so they're good if you want to play around with Mac OS.

All I have on my SSD is Windows 7 (15gb), SCII (10gb), and a few other small programs that barely add up to 2gb. That's 27gb on a 64gb drive. How can I go through and check why I'm missing so much space? I ran TreeSize and got this: It shows I'm using up around 28GB on my 64GB Crucial M4 SSD. I need to find the missing space! ***UPDATE*** So I found this: http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/128-Gig-M4-Win7-64-bit-fresh-intall-uses-nearly-100-gigs-of/m-p/73421/highlight/true#M22642 and the site says to run powercfg -h off in a cmd prompt and after I did that I had my 15.5gb free on my C Drive. So now 28+15.5 is 43.5 so I'm still missing around 15gb of space to hit up around 59gb of the drive. So an update to this for anyone else who wonders where there HDD space went on their shiny new SSD. What was happening was the hibernate function was taking up 16GB on my hard drive space and my pagefile was set to 16GB so I turned off the hibernate function using "powercfg -h off" command in a command prompt and then set pagefile to a much lower setting. This freed up all my missing GB and now all is good. That link in the quote goes over the process as well.

So I'm building a computer, and the build I'm going by is right here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=287430 There's Black Friday deals of course, and here's 2 I was looking at.. Rosewill Future Case Cooler Master 460W Power Supply My questions are.. 1. The Rosewill case I listed would be a superior choice to the Xigmatek Asgard II, case I have selected right now, right? And it should have space for all my components? 2. Which power supply would be better? As the thread noted, Antec is a much better brand, but I wasn't sure if the Cooler Master having 60W more power and a $10 decrease would be enough to merit using a "lower" brand. Also, how do you tell if a power supply is modular or not? EDIT: I just noticed the Cooler Master power supply has a MIR that makes it $20.. Thanks guys! :D

1) Probably. The Xigmatek case isn't really more than a tin can. 2) The Elite 460W you listed is exactly the same as the Elite 400W. Hilariously the advertised overcurrent protection is just a blank PCB. Don't be cheap, pay $10 and stick with the Antec.

The 560 seems to bench higher in a few games I play more often(SC2, Civ 5) and everyone says the 2GB will do better at larger resolutions + multi monitor setups. I currently play on 1600x900 and don't see myself ever going past 1080p when I get a new monitor. I also will never be multi-monitor gaming, the 2nd will be used purely for browsers and assorted stuff to have up to look @ between/during games if needed, and to expand my workspace for programming/working/etc. I plan on picking up Battlefield 3 before too long and would like to play on at least High settings with good framerates. Help me decide T_T Also was looking at the MSI Twin Frozr versions of both of these. Most reading I saw said they run cooler than the Asus DCII versions, and come with higher factory overclocks. I'm not that concerned about the fact that the 6950 might be unlockable to 6970 shaders either. I don't want that alone to be the reason I would get it. dunno about civ5, but both cards will run sc2 just dandy. since you're fixing to play bf3, id go with the 6950 as all the benchmarks ive seen have it rated above the 560ti. here is one such review: http://www.techspot.com/review/458-battlefield-3-performance/page5.html

That case's not too good and if overpriced, would rather just get HAF 912 as it's got better features and it's like half the price RAM overpriced, get cheapest 8b 1333/1600mhz ram you won't be able to find a GTX 460 later and that PSU is overkill and just ridiculous anyway, also you wouldnt even consider buying a second card later on for sli, either do it now or never. You'd get a GTX 570 for the same price if you don't account for sli possibility. GTX 460 isn't an intelligent choice in any case, 6870 is same price and scales better into crossfire and is better anyway. Heatsink is allright I guess but for just 5$ more I'd get the EVO. Do pricematching also, gosh. At least check directcanada and bestdirect.

EDIT: Also looking for a sweet graphics card. I would even go nVidia this time around if the price is right. I guess for comparisons use a 5830. Something better than that.

The games I'm planning to play are Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and possibly things like Skyrim I'm also planning to stream, as well as hook up to a widescreen tv besides just my monitor for streamwatching purposes. I don't want my budget to above 1300$ I'm getting a gtx 560ti to cover myself for gaming over the next 4 years, with sli if it really does become that outdated. I'm pretty much hoping that someone will double check and tell me all these parts are compatible(the motherboard was stolen off of a hackintosh website as one that works, and it also does what i want). Your GTX 560 Ti is stupidly overpriced. If you want a Twin Frozr II, just get it for $240: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127594 I'm not sure why you are getting a Twin Frozr II at $270, the Twin Frozr III is less expensive and also clocked higher: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127578 X750 for $110 is HOT HOT and it is stupid not to buy this over a HX650 or any other similar power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151087 NCIX's new sale starts tonight and I'm pretty sure there's going to be some less expensive case that's better or equal to the HAF 932 and the 212+ will be less expensive than $26, probably some motherboard sale as well.

Unless you need something specific, just get the least expensive burner which would be this for $16: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827151233

Unless you need to transfer large files quickly across your home network (over wireless), a single antenna model is generally fine. If both sides are 802.11n compliant, with multiple antennas on both sides, you can have multiple spatial streams to increase the data rate. For almost everybody, their connection to the ISP is the bottleneck however, so it's really a moot point. Models with external antennas that are not affixed to the back of your case (where the signal is being blocked by the chassis and may not be in a good place for reception even disregarding that) are preferred. Just look for something with relatively high customer reviews and hope for the best. This meets all the criteria and is $10: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704045 On November 25 2011 09:13 Tribute wrote: I'm planning on upgrading my cpu/mb sometime within the next 3-6 months, want to pick up an i5-2500k. Currently for Black Friday it's $20 off on Newegg, should I be picking this up now? Sure, i5-2500k is fine. But in less than 6 months, there will be a new generation of processors, meaning probably a replacement to the i5-2500k with similar price but slightly-to-somewhat higher performance and definitely lower power consumption. It's probably not a huge deal. Why 3-6 months? Are you buying the CPU + motherboard now but not actually using them? If you won't be using them in the meantime, it's probably worth waiting. Otherwise, just get the i5-2500k and be happy.
