The idea's terrible from like three different directions. Shikyo's probably not being serious. But that CPU won't bottleneck anything. It's top of the line for gaming.

Hey my build's totally the best for non-sensible-useless-high-fps-numbers-in-top-left-corner which seems to be what he's looking for!

He mentioned streaming as well as occasional video editing, so I'd even consider Sandy Bridge-E over SLI GTX 580, much less SLI GTX 590.

Oh right xD Give me a second!

I was going through my SSD boot drive and I noticed that it states that I only have 3GB of space left on the drive. All I have on my SSD is Windows 7 (15gb), SCII (10gb), and a few other small programs that barely add up to 2gb. That's 27gb on a 64gb drive.
How can I go through and check why I'm missing so much space?
I ran TreeSize and got this:
It shows I'm using up around 28GB on my 64GB Crucial M4 SSD. I need to find the missing space!
***UPDATE*** So I found this: http://forum.crucial.com/t5/Solid-State-Drives-SSD/128-Gig-M4-Win7-64-bit-fresh-intall-uses-nearly-100-gigs-of/m-p/73421/highlight/true#M22642
and the site says to run powercfg -h off in a cmd prompt and after I did that I had my 15.5gb free on my C Drive. So now 28+15.5 is 43.5 so I'm still missing around 15gb of space to hit up around 59gb of the drive.

Let me tell you guys what I have right now so you can start salvaging.. I guess o.o

Wait, I'm confused. You already have an i7 2600k? What are you looking to get out of your computer again?
How would you possibly have made this 2 years ago. And you aren't content with SLI 295's? Jesus, no wonder you want to spend so much on the computer, you're absolutely loaded.

Better? =)
Also what on earth your current build -.- Why are you buying a second 2600k?

I changed the mobo and added the new processor a few months ago.

Raid0 on the HDDs isn't that good, RAID1 is ok but seriously that's just silly with the current HDD prices. They're going to be 70$ for 2TB in a few months.
Buy a second SSD for RAID0 instead, maybe you'll notice that somehow.
Anyway I think that 3930K CPU might be good for you then as I guess the 4core sandybridges can be a bit boring.
Honestly you'd get a lot more "bang for buck" out of a ~1000$ 34" 2560x1600 monitor.

We're all pretty much fucked for the whole year when it comes to hard drives. If you need a hard drive, buy one now from a non-online source. Best Buy was selling old 3TB Seagates for like $110; other places like Costco and Staples aren't much different.
Business responses, from Lenovo and HP, has generally been "everyone is fucked and preording stupidly huge number of hard drives and accessories so don't be surprised if you don't get any". Seagate, the largest hard drive manufacturer, themselves don't plan on reaching the same critical mass until the end of 2013: Nidec got ruined completely by the floods, which means every hard drive manufacturer is screwed since they're the guys who supply the motors. Western Digital, the second largest hard drive manufacturing company, are still fucked since their manufacturing plants are still flooded.
Seagate's response will be using less parts and using denser platters. Which, obviously, bumps up the price considerably because of a change of process. Steve Luczo doesn't seem worried about bumping the price up, its a good opportunity to bring up the profit margins again.
|
Well I don't think Nidec would take such a long time setting up another factory, they know there's a ton of demand and profits to be had so I expect them to be swift enough. Still predicting february / march, around the same time Ivybridge comes out(and same time I believe I'm finally going to buy the new computer)

Their whole one of a kind tooling kits got ruined and those don't just replace themselves. Not just that, you've got to deal with logistical problems like getting the workers back to work, trying to get warranty to cover for any damages, and producing enough hardware that everyone has a surplus.
Its not going to take a "few months", the backlog of corporate orders is even putting stress on guys like Intel, Dell, and HP who make those vertical SFF PC stands funnily enough. Western Digital, who make close to 1/2 of the world's hard drives now they own Samsung's HDD division, will still be completely flooded until the end of the year and then they've got to check out how much of their machinery is screwed and what they have to replace.
A few months for 2TB drives to get back to their original price is wishful thinking.

Hypothetically, if I have 2 sticks of 4gb ram at 1333/10666 and add in another 2 sticks of 4gb at 1600/12800, how does my computer handle that? (ignore whatever performance gains might or might not be had, this is for my own curiosity)

The modules at 1600 would downclock to 1333 or the modules at 1333 would upclock to 1600 and you might encounter some stability issues.

So in other words, not a good idea to mix (for the most part).

Yep, I wasn't planning on getting a cooler just yet but couldn't pass up that great deal. I went with the Gaia because I hear it's quieter but still good ^^.
