The manual for the mobo has each pin labeled with + or - but the connectors to the front panel have the following symbols: triangle with an S above it and a capital G.
How do those correspond with the + - symbols?
In my experience the triangle usually goes to the "+" but as others have said you can always try and just change it if it doesn't work. Otherwise look at you cases manual or google your case. If it's a known brand/modell there is usually some instructions somewhere when it comes to the front panel connectors.

It's not bad. Do you need a 6core though?

I'd get it. Windows is $100.00 so the components are really $500.00

I wouldn't buy it. A hex core Ph2 and a 550Ti... yuck. Even at the price, those aren't exactly beastly.
It's not terrible for the price, but the gaming performance will still be rather lackluster. If your budget is that tight, you can get a much better optimized build, particularly if you don't need the hex core.
That's really a rig that tries to do too much for it's price point, and comes out mediocre at everything.
Only way that's worth buying is if you want to stream for $600, and even then, you should do better finding a friend with a .edu email to get Win7 for $30 and spending $570 building a much better rig that's better optimized.

Answer the questions in the OP, we will tell you if it is good for your needs, even though i serisouly doubt it

Which 560ti would you get msi or evga? I like the idea of cooler cpu but is evgas support better?
Also, would the 560ti easily run dual 24in monitors at 1080p with ultra settings on one screen and chrome / skype / other programs on the other monitor?
|
thats a 550ti ... not 560

Yes, it'll run ultra in most games and reasonably high in some other games. Yes, having a secondary monitor displaying desktop stuff has little to no impact on performance.
MSI. EVGA's post-sale support is arguably better yes. How do you get a cooler CPU...? Unless you're purchasing a blower heatsink except EVGA doesn't have a blower heatsink on its GTX 560 Ti's

MSI runs cooler and faster and is cheaper if I'm not mistaken. EVGA is more expensive for slightly better support, which is not worth it at all.
Yes it'll easily run it, but multi-tasking depends on your processor not your graphics card. Unless you want to video chat with someone while playing Starcraft...

Appreciate the help.

When you say "But the higher the better" for your resolution, do you mean you'll be upgrading your monitor? Do you expect that budget to include a monitor? This is crucial.
Also, if you're planning on building in a month, come back at most 1 week before you plan to place your order. Pricing&sales will most likely change by then. I don't include the monitor in the budget. Will you be purchasing a new monitor relatively soon (within the next year or so)? Important question.
No i don't

any hopes of SB prices dropping anytime soon?
I bought everything I need to build a new computer except for cpu+mobo, hd, and ram. I was thinking of going for SB if I sniped some deal on a good mobo + 2500k for about 300ish but that might be unlikely. Might have to wait for BD benchmarks then =./
P.S. NCIX was highly dissapoint last wednesday lol
|
Bulldozer is coming out in October and Intel just released a lot of new processors so no the 2500k isn't going to drop in pricing anytime soon.
I'm not sure what you're expecting on sales since last week was definitely not a disappointment... 5850 for $130, 6850 for $140, 6870 for $160, Earthwatts 650 for $45, core i5 2500k for $200, GSkill 8gb for $35, ...
You can still get a Caviar Blue 1TB off Newegg for $49.

Hey guys, will I notice a difference between using a HDMI cable over a DVI? My monitor has a HDMI port and I was planning on buying the DVI - HDMI cable.
|
No you won't since they're both digital.
|
im just trying to snipe a good mobo with a 2500k at a good price. Not too worried about the rest.
I thought BD was supposed to come out like next week lol

Many thanks

You need to install/upgrade your driver for your graphics card. Generic non PnP monitor means no graphics card is detected (I think).
