So basically, unless you are running stock settings with warranty up, don't touch adaptive =P

So to over clock we'd be setting the offset to +.x volts? Now I'm glad I decided to buy haswell xD

I wonder how it fairs against Haswell's graphics performance. The 5800k was damn good value.

Rumor has it 30% GPU performance increase over trinity was accurate, although the only thing I saw was from a month ago. Everybody was obsessed over haswell so there aren't many reviews out. Even with a moderate increase though, I think it should catch up to haswell GPU again at a much lower price. Intel definitely wont be offering iris pro for 140$ haha.

It's still two Piledriver modules with 384 VLIW4 (from HD 69xx, older than current HD 7750+ GCN) shaders.

Supposedly just a Trinity refresh with some process and clock / temp / power management improvements. I'm not sure what the rumors are from, but it'd be hard for just drivers and a slight clock bump to make it 30% better when the hardware is pretty much the same. Maybe for some specific workload, but probably not overall... then again, I haven't seen any benches, so my guesses could be way wrong.

Sadly, the IGP should probably still be slightly worse than Iris Pro 5200 (maxed out GT3e Haswell graphics). Then again, you can't readily buy Haswell with that, and AMD's asking for a lot less money for that performance.

Hello dear Liquidicians, i am in dear need of some help and i hope i can find some here. I am afraid i know shit about hardware and have been using a PC which i bought used from a friend, here are the specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 (2,8 Ghz; Sockel 775; 3 MB L2-Cache)
(ZOTAC GeForce 9800 GT) <-- the problem!
OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 PLATINUM 4GB EDITION DUAL CHANNEL
MSI P45D3 Neo-F
Enermax Modu82+ 425W

Now it seems to me that my GPU just died and i need a new one. A friend suggested to me, to look for an older highend GPU since i don't want to spend much money (and can't -.-) and an old highend GPU should be better/price than a newer lowend GPU. Thing is, i don't have the slightest idea what is low, high, new, old, it all reads like it is "the best GPU in the world" and i can't figure out which is what. I looked at the prices from the 1680x1050 GPUs in the OP of this thread but i really hoped to find something a bit cheaper which still allows me to play Dota 2 and watch Movies on my PC which is all i want. Has anyone an idea what i could get?

TL,DR: need a new GPU

What is your budget?
< 100 €

What is your resolution?
1680x1050

What are you using it for?
Should be able to handle Dota 2 with high Resolution and low Details etc.

What is your upgrade cycle?
Hopefully near never.

When do you plan on building it?
Now now now!

Do you plan on overclocking?
nope

Do you need an Operating System?
nope!

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
I don't know what that is so i am pretty sure "no" is the answer.

Where are you buying your parts from?
Somewhere in Europe, i guess it doesn't have to be Germany.

Thanks in advance for your time!
Make it idiot proof and someone is going to invent a better idiot...

DOTA 2 on low? You could get away with less than this, but you might as well just get something at least HD 6570 / 6670 / GT 430 / 530 / 630 level.

No need to spend close to 100 €. This HD 6670 would easily run high settings for about half that. Actually, it's just a last-gen part that's a slight downgrade from a 9800 GT, but all this should be more than enough.

So I ordered my stuff and the Z77UDH3 motherboard was out of stock so I had to go with the Z77HD4 motherboard from gigabyte. I looked at the differences and the main one is that there is one PCI16 slot on both, but a pci8x slot on the UDH3 sharing bandwidth with the PCI16 slot. This means that on the UDH3 board I could SLI 2 nvidia cards, but on the HD4 I can't?

Considering my lower budget and advantage of the bundle cost and not planning on SLI cards I don't lose anything by having gotten the cheaper motherboard correct? Last question before I post pics of my build once it comes in. And tons of thanks for the pc :D

I noticed also some connectors ill never use like a multichannel audio out (sub etc) and esata on the back which I also have no immediate plans for. So saving 50 dollars on the bundle (100 if I waited for the UDH3 mobo to come in instead of the HD4 board) I think I saved the money well.

No no no the main difference (well the only one I care about) is the power system. UD is a 12+8? phase and HD is 8+4?, which means you lose like 100/200Mhz max overclock.

Oh, well I wasn't planning on overclocking anyway but for 300 I could get no chance to overclock or get a chance to do some overclock.

In the end, I don't think 100/200Mhz is worth $100 dollars. I spent $830 after taxes, adding another $113 with tax in not worth that overclock. So cool, I am ok with that :D

The main difference would be SLI support and what ITzSnypah mentioned. Not that big of a deal if you aren't all that interested in overclocking.

Z77X-UD3H is 6+2+1 and the HD4 is 4+1+1 (I think) for future reference.

Doing an upgrade soon and just need it checked over

Resolution: 2 1920x1080 monitors
Usage: Gaming (max settings), heavy coding and stress testing, running virtual machines, basic photoshop
Upgrade Cycle: ~2-3 years
Build Time: In 1 month
Overclocking: Stock for now, will overclock when compile times become a pain
OS: Already have
SLI/crossfire: Single card now, will add in a second once the performance is not enough
Purchase from: Online from US sites, will compare prices at time of purchase

Current parts that I can carry over:
PSU: Corsair TX 750W
Case: Cooler Master HAF 920
RAM: 2x2GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
Some cheap optical drive

To purchase:
CPU: i7-4770k
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
RAM: 2x4gb G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 1600 (to make 12gb total)
Motherboard: Cheapest decent Z87 at time of purchase
GPU: GTX 770, best deal at time of purchase
HDD: Cheapest 2TB at time of purchase
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB

How does everything look?

Looks fine, though you may want to consider dropping down to an i5, unless your development toolchain and/or the stuff you develop is heavily parallelized. VM usage doesn't benefit from Hyperthreading unless you run heavy software in several VMs at the same time.

Basic photoshopping and gaming don't benefit from an i7 over an i5.

Hello, everyone. My system has finally broken down, so Im looking for a new one.
Im a total noob, so dont go too harsh on me.

What is your budget?
Actually, Ive got a birthday gift of 2000 Euros for PC issues, but I never plan to use them all. LOL...
So my budget is around 1000 Euros. Might be slighly more, because of dual monitor wish.

What is your resolution?
1920x1080. In plan, because I don't have sutable monitor(s) yet.

What are you using it for?
Would be nice to play modern games like Crysis 3, Far cry 3, Sc2 Hots, etc - on max with decent fps.
Other than that - a simple typewriter and Internet.
No streaming or 3d-Max'ing or video rendering.

What is your upgrade cycle?
I would say 4-5 years. So yeah, I need decent stuff from the start.

When do you plan on building it?
June-July 2013.

Do you plan on overclocking?
Though I have read articles and saw videos how to make it, Im just a bloody noob.
Plus, I dont have time to run Prime95 for 24 hours without BSOD.
So OC'ing other than muliplier - no.

Do you need an Operating System?
Yes. Windows 7 Extreme (Home edition? Somebody?)
Windows 8? NO!

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
Im planning to use only 1 grafik card. A decent one. So SLI - no.

Where are you buying your parts from?
hoh.de or notebooksbilliger.de or drivecity.de or compuland.de.
I'd rather avoid buying stuff from mindfactory or hardwareversand.

Still got no respond.
CPU: Intel i5-3550? No OC'ing intented.
Motherboard: no idea... Z77? Z87? Other?
GPU: no idea ...GTX?
RAM: 2 x 4 Gb Corsair Vengence 1600 cl9?
Monitor: 2 x 1920x1080 monitors
Case: no idea
PSU: no idea
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB
HDD: any 2 TB HDD

Could someone help a noob out?

1500 will be enough to get what you need. At that budget, you should DEFINITELY overclock, you'll get a very nice boost in FPS from both graphics card overclocking and CPU overclocking. Intel OCing is all multiplier. Just change the number and run a stability test. Many forums will guide you through the process. Doing it for a graphics card is even easier.

You never answered my question originally, not that I've seen anyways. Why don't you want to buy from probably the two most competetively priced computer components' websites in the EU???

8 GB of RAM is plenty. Samsung 840 pro 128/256 GB is a good buy. You can install Windows and your favourite games and programmes onto that for ease of use. SSDs really are great. Movies and media can be stored on a TB HDD.

Interesting poll.. I'm a bit torn on motherboard, think i'l end up overspending..

What do you look for in an expensive motherboard?
Overclocking capabilities, cooling, elecontronic components quality, better on-board sound or better network chips?

The problem is that I:
- never experienced with OC'ing
- need a nice aftermarket cooler (not a slightest idea which one)
- dont have time to run Prime95 for 24 hours

Because I never did OC'ing in the past, Im sure I'll do something stupid and kill CPU.This will cause further expenses and delay.
Plus I have to search for those sites with a detailed info about OC'ing - no time for this for sure.

Im sorry. I must have missed your question.
The reason is because I have read a lot of complaints about the service, when something goes wrong: i.e. wrong delivery, delivered broken parts and its a warranty issue, even sold retour parts on these sites!!!
I dont wanna risk some BS like that. HOH.de is slightly more expensive, but I have never read something like this about HOH.de So I'd like to purchase there.

Everything, i plan on pushing harder than the vast majority of OCers so i'd spend more than reccomended to pretty much anyone for safety and just to have it if nothing else
