If you are playing starcraft 2, which is a really CPU intensive game, then it's kinda unreasonable to spend too much on the graphics card when really a GTX 460 will give over 40 fps even at 2560x1600. (hardware canucks review)
If your budget is below 1000, then i don't think you are playing at that resolution. however, if you want to go for such an expensive graphics setup to play other games then it's really up to you.
Point is, try not to have a GPU CPU imbalance.

I'd really appreciate some help making a computer build, as I know next to nothing about computers and this is my first time building one.
Budget: $900.
I want to make the computer from scratch, meaning that an OS must be included in that budget. I live in Canada and I am not sure where I should buy my parts (I hear newegg.ca is not as good as it's .com counterpart. I also heard that ncix.com is pretty good).
Resolution: preferably 1920X1080 but I'm willing to play on 1680X900.
Use: gaming, surfing the web.
Upgrade cycle: I probably won't upgrade for quite a while.
Time: I'm ordering the parts on August 7th
Overclocking: I'm not too familiar with this. I'd be willing to give it a go if it ends up giving me a good bang for my buck.
SLI/Xfire: I don't plan on doing so in the near future. I would be perfectly fine if the computer build does not support SLI/Xfire.
Thanks for your time and please make sure the budget stays close to $900 with tax, I'm not doing well money-wise right now

Wow, the Earthwatts looks like a good deal.
with all 3 rails that's 828W (correct me if I'm wrong) which seems like a pretty amazing deal for the price.
So the Aywun, haven't been able to get any reviews on that. but it is so much cheaper though.
Definitely either one of those 2, because I want to have a little headroom so as not to run my PSU at max, and in case I want to add any more components.

I was a bit turned away from building this since I wasn't too well-informed about Canada prices. And I was probably right about my own assumptions. I think I went a little over 900 but it's not too bad. You can save some money if you are in college or know someone that is by getting Windows 7 at a student discount.
The only thing I could pair was the processor and Windows 7, all the other offerings weren't the best components.
You can try to build something similar with the parts I listed below on Newegg.ca, but I think it'll cost more there. If you do find something cheaper on there you could try using ncix's price match program (I myself don't know how it works)

- I have an 17'' monitor and my resolution is 1280 x 1024. If i remain with any bucks left i'll try buying a new monitor aswell, but that's not my primary concern

- Well my main reason why i want to buy a new computer is because of Starcraft 2. That's my main reason. But i mustn't forget that I'll need this computer for college too, like for 3D modeling programs such as Katia or even AutoCAD. And yeah...I'd like to play some other new games too, not only sc2, but that's not a big deal. Naturally along with all that I'll use it for surfing, some image editing, programming, writing essays, streaming and so on.
What is your upgrade circle?
- Well the computer I am writing this on is 9 years old. I know it's old, but it served me well for surfing + BW. Nowadays that won't be enough coz im studying a major which will need me to use powerful programs as mentioned. I guess it will be ok if the new computer lasts at least 3-5 years if possible.
When do you paly on building it?
- I plan having the new computer before 3.8.2010. That's when my new internet conenction comes so it would be perfect if i could set it on my new computer directly. So i paly on building it this week.

Do you know a website I can use to look for parts that sell to Croatia? 700€ is capable of playing at your monitor's resolution. Also, I checked AutoCAD's system requirements and they were not very high (but probably high for your current computer considering it's 9 years old) and couldn't ind anything on Katia, but if the video card can handle SC2 it will blow away those programs you listed.

Most AutoCAD processes are mostly single threaded if I remember correctly. If you go deeper into AutoCAD, you may want a workstation GPU like a FireGL or Quadro.

Heads up for people in the US, but Newegg has 10% bing cashback again. Bing Cashback ends on July 31, so you better hurry. For people who don't know what bing cashback is, it's basically Microsoft's way of providing people a rebate (with a 60 day delay) so that people would start using Bing. Basic idea is you search/shop through bing, then enter the vendor sites directly through Bing, and Bing keeps track of all of this. Unfortunately none of the mentioned sites are here in Croatia and I plan buying a computer from the local stores. I guess the best bet would be that you tell me what components should i get for that price in USA/Canada or wherever you are from and I'll search them at the local stores and see if they cost too much or not. So just pretend I am from NA :D

I would recommend a Phenom II X4 955/i5 750 and a HD 5770 or a GTX 460 if possible. With the AMD you can go for a simple 870 Chipset motherboard, and with the Intel, you probably should get a P55 motherboard.

I was thinking about building a computer around i7, but if you think that for what I need i5/Phenom will be sufficient I guess it's better coz then the computer would be much cheaper

i7's are pricey, and clocked lower. People say they are easy to OC, but only if you have even MORE money, since to do it safely you need aftermarket cooling. Personally, I have a 1090T Black(that's the Phenom II X6), and that's significantly faster than a stock i7 while being only half the price.
What matters here is money and desire. Computer hardware depreciates pretty much as soon as it's released. You can spend a lot of money to get a really powerful system that will be "okay" in 4 years, or you can spend a lot less and get a decent system that will last a little bit, but won't play the newest games quite as well as you'd want them to. For most people, getting the cheaper system is worth it because they probably won't buy every brand new game and play it to death.
But honestly, if you're considering i7 and not overclocking, go with a 1090T. It's quite futureproof, and while it's still on the expensive side, it'll last a lot longer.
