What is your budget? $1k - $1.3k. Would like to see what i can get for 1k first, then if can benefit alot more for a little extra, i'll do that. What is your resolution? 1920x1080 What are you using it for? Gaming on ultra to max settings (mostly sc2), streaming, and music production What is your upgrade cycle? 3+ years When do you plan on building it? ASAP Do you plan on overclocking? No Do you need an Operating System? Currently using Vista. If highly recommended, i'll upgrade to Windows 7. If avoidable, No. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No Where are you buying your parts from? Fl, Usa. I prefer using Newegg, but don't mind using other sites I'm not that computer savy, so i'd prefer buying a prebuilt comp. If building a comp would benefit me more for the buck, i'll go that direction. I'm also in need of a Gaming Mouse. Appreciate it TL'ers <3 | ||

700-850 € What is your resolution? 1920x1080 What are you using it for? Mostly gaming, maybe streaming in the future when my internet will be upgraded but I don't think so. What is your upgrade cycle? 3-5 years When do you plan on building it? ASAP Do you plan on overclocking? Don't think so Do you need an Operating System? Yes Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No Where are you buying your parts from? My favorite would be a prebuilt PC because I don't know anything anymore about computers or maybe i can order and let it built by a local computer store. I reviewed prebuilt computers from Dell/Alienware, Alternate and such sites but everytime I look up the system in other forums they get bad testresults or reviews/comments. I will appreciate every help. an example is the xp 8500 The system: AMD Radeon™ HD 7570 1GB DDR5 1TB-SATA-Harddrive 8 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600 MHz Intel® Core™ i7-3770 (3.40GHz, 8MB) 3rd generation Windows 7 home premium for 850€ Is that a good deal ? | ||

I'll think on this for a week or so. The price is well within what I was prepared for so I basically just don't want to buy anything stupid and I think you guys have helped me with that. We'll see if I decide to overclock, it will probably depend on what fps I get but I'm not expecting any issues with this build in the near future. Again, thanks A LOT everyone for all the advice, if you're ever in Dallas I owe you a beer or two. EDIT: Is the Antec 900 really that bad? It gets pretty good reviews. I'll think about the cases some more tonight, thanks for that feedback. At this point just assume I will overclock eventually, I've done a complete 180 ![]() I got a lot of good information on building my computer by following the discussion around trainriderJ's computer (previous page). But I have a couple questions (thank you teamliquid community!) I'm wondering if the GTX 670 is really worth the extra money compared to the GTX 570. I'm also wondering for a build like this one would you want to buy a 120Hz monitor? | ||

this prebuilt would be a ton better, but doesn't come with OS, and can be OC'D if you build yourself/don't oc, you could get the same for about 150 cheaper and for a gtx 670 vs gtx 570, depends what games you play, fo a 120hz display, most definitly though | ||

------------------------------- What is your budget? Around £800-£900 What is your resolution? Frankly, I am not entirely sure. I was planning on using my HDTV as a monitor, but if that isn't recommended then I would pay for a new monitor. I see 1920x1080 is the general one, so lets go with that. Any help with this one is appreciated. What are you using it for? Gaming and general use. What is your upgrade cycle? 2+ years. When do you plan on building it? As soon as physically possible! Do you plan on overclocking? No. Do you need an Operating System? Yes. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? No. Where are you buying your parts from? Scan.co.uk Any help is very much appreciated. | ||

Frequently, if a card will drive more pixels, it will perform similar or better on less pixels in the same game. In this case, similar, because it's not that much smaller a resolution. | ||

It was $379, but I created an account to check out and now the price is $399. I want to know if it's a scam or if I was just really unlucky. | ||

What is your budget? As stated $500 before taxes will go up to $600 if the extra 100 helps a lot. What is your resolution? 1920x1080 I can go lower if it helps performance What are you using it for? Playing recent games (<3yrs old) smoothly. I don't really care about graphics, but if it looks nice that's also a plus. Also obviously do general computing tasks, I'd also like to dual monitor the computer. What is your upgrade cycle? I don't have one. I'm hoping it'll last me at least 3years. When do you plan on building it? Mid August, before the new term starts in September. Do you plan on overclocking? Depends if it'll substantially add to the performance:price ratio. Do you need an Operating System? My school gives me Windows 7 Pro for free, so I am planning to take advantage of that offer. Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire? Not if one video card will perform better for the same cost of 2. Where are you buying your parts from? Anywhere that ships to Canada with reasonable shipping costs. NCIX, canada computer, newegg.ca comes to mind. thanks! It's my first computer build and I thought it'd be a fun project to take on. | ||

Pricing is going to change by mid august so come back than and ask for another recommendation as there isn't much wiggle room for a $500 build.
